MiR675-5p acts on HIF-1α to sustain hypoxic responses: A new therapeutic strategy for glioma
Hypoxia is a common feature in solid tumours. In glioma, it is considered the major driving force for tumour angiogenesis and correlates with enhanced resistance to conventional therapies, increased invasiveness and a poor prognosis for patients. Here we describe, for the first time, that miR675-5p, embedded in hypoxia-induced long non-coding RNA H19, plays a mandatory role in establishing a hypoxic response and in promoting hypoxia-mediated angiogenesis. We demonstrated, in vitro and in vivo, that miR675-5p over expression in normoxia is sufficient to induce a hypoxic moreover, miR675-5p depletion in low oxygen conditions, drastically abolishes hypoxic responses including angiogenesis. In addition, our data indicate an interaction of miR675-5p, HIF-1α mRNA and the RNA Binding Protein HuR in hypoxia-induced responses. We suggest the modulation of miR675-5p as a new therapeutic option to promote or abolish hypoxia induced angiogenesis
Application of Multifractal Measures to Tehran Price Index
We report an empirical study of Tehran Price Index (TEPIX). To analyze our
data we use various methods like as, rescaled range analysis (), modified
rescaled range analysis (Lo's method), Detrended Fluctuation Analysis (DFA) and
generalized Hurst exponents analysis. Based on numerical results, the scaling
range of TEPIX returns is specified, long memory effect or long range
correlation property in this market is investigated, characteristic exponent
for probability distribution function of TEPIX returns is derived and finally
the stage of development in Tehran Stock Exchange is determined.Comment: 19 pages, 6 figure
Effect of different stunning methods of pigs on subcutaneous veining defect and meat quality of raw ham
First AUV and ROV investigation of seismogenic faults in the Alboran Sea (Western Meditarranean)
In May-June 2015 we carried out the SHAKE cruise on board the RV
âSarmiento de Gamboaâ the first in situ investigation using state-of-the-art underwater
vehicles, the AUVs âAsterXâ and âIdefXâ (IFREMER, France) and the ROV âMax
Roverâ (HCMR, Greece). Here we present how these vehicles helped us to achieve our
main goals to survey active seismogenic faults and associated structures of the Eastern
Alboran Sea (Western Mediterranean).Peer Reviewe
Forecasting for Network Management with Joint Statistical Modelling and Machine Learning
Forecasting is a task of ever increasing importance for the operation of mobile networks, where it supports anticipa tory decisions by network intelligence and enables emerging zero touch service and network management models. While current trends in forecasting for anticipatory networking lean towards the systematic adoption of models that are purely based on deep learning approaches, we pave the way for a different strategy to the design of predictors for mobile network environments. Specifically, following recent advances in time series prediction, we consider a hybrid approach that blends statistical modelling and machine learning by means of a joint training process of the two methods. By tailoring this mixed forecasting engine to the specific requirements of network traffic demands, we develop a Thresholded Exponential Smoothing and Recurrent Neural Network (TES-RNN) model. We experiment with TES RNN in two practical network management use cases, i.e., (i) anticipatory allocation of network resources, and (ii) mobile traffic anomaly prediction. Results obtained with extensive traffic workloads collected in an operational mobile network show that TES-RNN can yield substantial performance gains over current state-of-the-art predictors in both applications consideredThis work is partially supported by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement no.101017109 DAEMON. The Spin-Statistics Connection in Quantum Gravity
It is well-known that is spite of sharing some properties with conventional
particles, topological geons in general violate the spin-statistics theorem. On
the other hand, it is generally believed that in quantum gravity theories
allowing for topology change, using pair creation and annihilation of geons,
one should be able to recover this theorem. In this paper, we take an
alternative route, and use an algebraic formalism developed in previous work.
We give a description of topological geons where an algebra of "observables" is
identified and quantized. Different irreducible representations of this algebra
correspond to different kinds of geons, and are labeled by a non-abelian
"charge" and "magnetic flux". We then find that the usual spin-statistics
theorem is indeed violated, but a new spin-statistics relation arises, when we
assume that the fluxes are superselected. This assumption can be proved if all
observables are local, as is generally the case in physical theories. Finally,
we also show how our approach fits into conventional formulations of quantum
gravity.Comment: LaTeX file, 31 pages, 5 figure
Anomalous behavior of the Debye temperature in Fe-rich Fe-Cr alloys
Debye temperature, , of Fe-rich FeCr disordered
alloys with was determined from the temperature dependence of
the central shift of M\"ossbauer spectra recorded in the temperature range of
60 -- 300 K. Its compositional dependence shows a maximum at with
a relative increase of % compared to a pure iron. The composition at
which the effect occurs correlates well with that at which several other
quantities, e. g. the Curie temperature and the spin-wave stiffness
coefficient, , show their maxima, but the enhancement of is
significantly greater and comparable with the enhancement of the hyperfine
field (spin-density of itinerant -like electrons) in the studied system. The
results suggest that the electron-phonon interaction is important in this alloy
system
