Building a knowledge and learning society in Portugal - Adult students in technological schools and higher education institutions

It was developed by the Portuguese partner of the PRILHE (Promoting Reflective Independent Learning in HE) project consortium. This was a project funded by the European Commission Socrates Adult Education Programme (113869-CP-1-2004-1-UK- GRUNDTVIG-G1PP). In Portugal, adults may choose Higher Education Institutions[1] (HEI) or Technological Schools (TS) to pursue their education. The case study shows that there are similarities and differences between students from TS and Universities, mostly related with the approaches students have to learning and the way teachers take into consideration these approaches. It seems that TS have “best practices” that could usefully be implemented by other institutions. The chapter is organised as follows: first, we contextualize LLL development as an element within the political objective of creation of a knowledge economy, especially in the context of the European Union's Lisbon Agenda, linking education with employment. The different access routes non-traditional adult students can take to access Universities in the Portuguese higher education (HE) system are then briefly described. Diferentes Integrações de Laboratórios Remotos em Cursos de Engenharia

Este artigo aborda diferentes integrações do VISIR. O VISIR é um laboratório aberto remoto dedicado a experimentos com circuitos elétricos e eletrónicos. Este laboratório permite que professores e alunos tenham oportunidade de contatar com experimentos remotamente e em tempo real, com equipamentos de teste e medição (fonte de alimentação tripla DC, gerador de funções, multímetro e um osciloscópio) ligado a componentes elétricos e eletrónicos. As abordagens didáticas são resumidas e as análises feitas fornecem explicações para alguns dos problemas encontrados, além de algumas diretrizes para futuras implementações. Uma série de pontos fortes e fracos é destacada, levando a sugestões sobre como aprimorar algumas abordagens estratégicas para motivar professores e motivar alunos para o potencial da utilização do VISIR no ensino e na aprendizagem. (Oligo)thienyl-imidazo-benzocrown ether derivatives : synthesis, photophysical studies and evaluation of their chemosensory properties

A series of novel (oligo)thienyl-imidazobenzocrown ethers were synthesised through a simple method and evaluated as fluorimetric chemosensors for transition metal cations. Interaction with Ni2+, Pd2+, and Hg2+ in ACN/DMSO solution (99:1) was studied by absorption and emission spectroscopy. Chemoselectivity studies in the presence of Na+ were also carried out and a fluorescence enhancement upon chelation (CHEF) effect was observed following Hg2+ complexation. Visceral leishmaniasis in the State of Maranhão, Brazil: evolution of an epidemic

TEMÁTICA SEGURANÇA DO PACIENTE NAS MATRIZES CURRICULARES DE ESCOLAS DE GRADUAÇÃO EM ENFERMAGEM E OBSTETRÍCIA

Objetivos: categorizar a temática segurança do paciente nas matrizes curriculares de cursos de graduação em enfermagem e obstetrícia. Método: Estudo documental, desenvolvido em nove universidades no período de junho de 2013 a março de 2014. Foram elencadas 16 palavras-chave diretas e 12 indiretas e categorizadas conforme o Patient safety curriculum guide: multi-professional edition.  Resultados: As palavras-chave diretas e indiretas foram encontradas em 168 disciplinas, sendo Segurança do Paciente (20,4%) e Lei do Exercício Profissional (13,7%) as diretas mais frequentes, enquanto que as indiretas foram Sistematização da Assistência em Enfermagem (42,1%) e Biossegurança (10,0%). Conclusão: A temática segurança do paciente foi encontrada nos conteúdos programáticos analisados, porém de maneira desarticulada; tornando-se imperativo buscar estratégias de ensino, que repercutam na formação do estudante. Descritores: Segurança do paciente; Currículo; Enfermagem; Obstetrizes
