The widespread use of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) has been a source of concern because of their various effects on the endocrine system. These effects include metabolic disorders, complications in reproductive health, hormone-related cancers, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Of particular concern is bisphenol A (BPA), a synthetic compound commonly found in consumer products such as water bottles, thermal receipt paper, and epoxy resins used in processed food packaging. Previous studies have shown that BPA can mimic estrogen through a variety of mechanisms and thus elicit an endocrine response. Some manufacturers have responded by removing BPA from their products; however, studies using a replacement compound bisphenol S have reported it to be just as, if not more, dangerous. The use of zebrafish (Danio rerio) larvae as a model organism allows for the effects of bisphenol exposure to be rapidly quantified through a simple behavioral assay. In studies involving bisphenol exposure, the use of zebrafish has demonstrated reproductive, developmental, endocrine, and behavioral effects. The study of bisphenol F, yet another endocrine disruptor that has become a replacement for BPA in consumer products, is highly important to public safety

Two natural questions are answered in the negative:
(1) If a space has the property that small nulhomotopic loops bound small
nulhomotopies, then are loops which are limits of nulhomotopic loops themselves
nulhomotopic?
(2) Can adding arcs to a space cause an essential curve to become
nulhomotopic?
The answer to the first question clarifies the relationship between the

Oncolytic herpes viruses, chemotherapeutics, and other cancer drugs
Oncolytic viruses are emerging as a potential new way of treating cancers. They are selectively replication-competent viruses that propagate only in actively dividing tumor cells but not in normal cells and, as a result, destroy the tumor cells by consequence of lytic infection. At least six different oncolytic herpes simplex viruses (oHSVs) have undergone clinical trials worldwide to date, and they have demonstrated an excellent safety profile and intimations of efficacy. The first pivotal Phase III trial with an oHSV, talimogene laherparepvec (T-Vec [OncoVex<sup>GM-CSF</sup>]), is almost complete, with extremely positive early results reported. Intuitively, therapeutically beneficial interactions between oHSV and chemotherapeutic and targeted therapeutic drugs would be limited as the virus requires actively dividing cells for maximum replication efficiency and most anticancer agents are cytotoxic or cytostatic. However, combinations of such agents display a range of responses, with antagonistic, additive, or, perhaps most surprisingly, synergistic enhancement of antitumor activity. When synergistic interactions in cancer cell killing are observed, chemotherapy dose reductions that achieve the same overall efficacy may be possible, resulting in a valuable reduction of adverse side effects. Therefore, the combination of an oHSV with āstandard-of-careā drugs makes a logical and reasonable approach to improved therapy, and the addition of a targeted oncolytic therapy with āstandard-of-careā drugs merits further investigation, both preclinically and in the clinic. Numerous publications report such studies of oncolytic HSV in combination with other drugs, and we review their findings here. Viral interactions with cellular hosts are complex and frequently involve intracellular signaling networks, thus creating diverse opportunities for synergistic or additive combinations with many anticancer drugs. We discuss potential mechanisms that may lead to synergistic interactions
Reduction of high-speed impulsive noise by blade planform modification of a model helicopter rotor
The reduction of high speed impulsive noise for the UH-1H helicopter was investigated by using an advanced main rotor system. The advanced rotor system had a tapered blade planform compared with the rectangular planform of the standard rotor system. Models of both the advanced main rotor system and the UH-1H standard main rotor system were tested at 1/4 scale in the 4 by 7 Meter Tunnel. In plane acoustic measurements of the high speed impulsive noise demonstrated that the advanced rotor system on the UH-1H helicopter reduced the high speed impulsive noise by up to 20 dB, with a reduction in overall sound pressure level of up to 5 dB
Experimental blade vortex interaction noise characteristics of a utility helicopter at 1/4 scale
Models of both the advanced main rotor system and the standard or "baseline" UH-1 main rotor system were tested at one-quarter scale in the Langley 4- by 7-Meter (V/STOL) Tunnel using the general rotor model system. Tests were conducted over a range of descent angles which bracketed the blade-vortex interaction phenomenon for a range of simulated forward speeds. The tunnel was operated in the open-throat configuration with acoustic treatment to improve the semi-anechoic characteristics of the test chamber. Acoustical data obtained for these two rotor systems operating at similar flight conditions are presented without analysis or discussion

Measuring sensory and marketing influences on consumers' choices among food and beverage product brands
Advance in food science depends on measuring the factors in human perception that influence eaters' activities with branded products. Assessed samples must include at least two levels of a sensed material characteristic (e.g. sucrose) or conceptual marketing attribute (e.g. ālow fatā), minimally confounded by other features. Each feature needs to be measured for its effect on the individual's objective achievement of choosing among the samples for a familiar context of use. These influences interact, consciously and unconsciously. This theory of how a mind works has generated a wide range of scientifically illuminating and commercially practical examples, illustrated in this review
