Effects of state dependent correlations on nucleon density and momentum distributions

The proton momentum and density distributions of closed shell nuclei are calculated within a model treating short--range correlations up to first order in the cluster expansion. The validity of the model is verified by comparing the results obtained with purely scalar correlations with those produced by finite nuclei Fermi Hypernetted Chain calculations. State dependent correlations are used to calculate momentum and density distributions of 12C, 16O, 40Ca, and 48Ca, and the effects of their tensor components are studied.Comment: 16 pages, latex, 8 figures, accepted for publication in Phys. W. A. WILDE & COMPANY,PUBLISHERS OFTHE PELOUBET SERIES,110 Boylston Street.Boston, JUly 13/00 189Dear Sir:-It has been suggested to us that we take the liberty off writing you with the hopes that it may result in mutual benefit to us both at some later period. For some twelve years we have been publishing for young people from about the age of 16 to 22, literature which should be both helpful and instructive, interesting enough to be included both in school libraries and to find its place on the shelves of our public libraries. We have made every effort to maintain a high standard along this line. Herewith, enclosed, find our catalogue, and I think the names of the authors themselves will show you that our list of books is A. No. I.You have been suggested to us as one who would be likely to write us a story of western life which would meet all these requirementa We should be very much pleased if you would give this subject some thought and let us know how you feel concerning it.We have always borne the reputation of being just towards our authors, making their interest and our own one.Trusting that we may hear from you favorably,we beg to remainMost sincerely yours,Mr. John Muir [illegible]wartInez, Calif.[02712

Correlations and charge distributions of medium heavy nuclei

    Get PDF
The effects of long- and short-range correlations on the charge distributions of some medium and heavy nuclei are investigated. The long-range correlations are treated within the Random Phase Approximation framework and the short-range correlations with a model inspired to the Correlation Basis Function theory. The two type of correlations produce effects of the same order of magnitude. A comparison with the empirical charge distribution difference between 206Pb and 205Tl shows the need of including both correlations to obtain a good description of the data.Comment: 20 pages, Latex, accepted for publication in Jour. RPA quasi-elastic responses in infinite and finite nuclear systems

    Get PDF
Quasi-elastic responses in nuclear matter and in 12^{12}C and 40^{40}Ca nuclei are calculated in ring approximation to investigate the finite size effects on the electromagnetic quasi-elastic responses. A method to simulate these effects in infinite systems calculations is proposed. The sensitivity of the results to the various terms of the residual interaction is studied. The results of nuclear matter RPA calculations are compared with those obtained in ring approximation to evidence the importance of the exchange terms.Comment: 14 pages, 8 figure

Influence of real-time information provision to vacant taxi drivers on taxi system performance

    Get PDF
This paper assumes that all taxi drivers adopt a profit maximization strategy when searching for customers. Some taxi drivers are provided with real-time information on customer and taxi queue lengths at all taxi stands while others have no information at all. The questions to be investigated are: (1) will equipped taxi drivers earn a higher profit compared to the uninformed taxi drivers? (2) What is the impact of real-time information provision to a portion of all the taxi drivers on the overall taxi system performance? To find answers to these questions, a case study is conducted by assuming a hypothetical linear city with a single city centre, ten taxi stands and twenty residential zones. A discrete-event dynamic simulation model is adopted to simulate the movements of taxis and to estimate various taxi system performance characteristics, such as taxi operation profit and customer waiting time. The time period simulated is a 3-hour morning commune. The taxi fleet size, fare structure, taxi operation cost and customer demand pattern are all assumed given. The simulation model is used to investigate the variation of taxi system performance with the proportion of informed taxi drivers in the taxi fleet.published_or_final_versionThe 12th World Conference of Transport Research (WCTR 2010), Lisbon, Portugal, 11-15 July 2010
