Wu Wei in Chuang Tzu as Life-Systematic

    Get PDF
Wu wei (non-doing) in Chuang Tzu is expressed in story-bits reflecting life-slices. They are lifesystematic, not random, not having a system. One; Chuang Tzu is a dragonfly over the pond of life, dotting the water of daily ongoing without dotting it. Two; the dotting is dot-sayings that yam life\u27s concrete bits into story-coherence. Three; Chuang Tzu dots and struts around to let others say, and life-coherenc.e appears. FoUl\u27; life-coherence is a life-family of concrete bits, a thread of many life-fibres twisted together. Five; Chu Hsi and Chuang Tzu have dot-sayings that draw readers into making systems of their own to attribute them to Chu and Chuang Tzu. System is then a verb, to let-make systems, weaving out a system beyond system. Six; this system-beyond is expressed in spontaneous flexuous story-nets to cipher comprehensive/ systematic life. Seven; being flexibly systematic expresses the inexpressible One Poem of life. All this while, Chuang Tzu has been winking at us, letting us spin out all the above. That is tacit wu wei- of living happily ever after

A Metaphorical Nature: The Immanent Journey

This thesis presents a theoretical background for the art practice. It explores the ideal relationship between human and nature through the Tao of Chuang Tzu and how art can be the catalyst to reveal and bring the true being and freedom. Chuang Tzu takes the relationship of all objects and the world as comprehensive, without distinction and egocentrism

    Developing a New Partnership

Many factors contribute to the success and impact of a Mathematics Resource Teacher on K-5 mathematics instruction. Developing a strong partnership with stakeholders and sharing a common vision for quality mathematics instruction are key factors in the successful implementation of the Mathematics Resource Teacher program. In this article, we share the experience of elementary school principal, Timothy Martino, as he prepared to open a new elementary school in August 2012. Frederick Douglass Elementary opened with a full-time, school-embedded Mathematics Resource Teacher, Mrs. Cindy Brady. Timothy Martino and Mrs. Brady developed a partnership with division-level central office staff and with the teachers of Frederick Douglass Elementary. Thus, they began the journey toward improving mathematics instruction for students through a team approach

Brachial plexus injury mimicking a spinal-cord injury.

Objective High-energy impact to the head, neck, and shoulder can result in cervical spine as well as brachial plexus injuries. Because cervical spine injuries are more common, this tends to be the initial focus for management. We present a case in which the initial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was somewhat misleading and a detailed neurological exam lead to the correct diagnosis.Clinical presentation A 19-year-old man presented to the hospital following a shoulder injury during football practice. The patient immediately complained of significant pain in his neck, shoulder, and right arm and the inability to move his right arm. He was stabilized in the field for a presumed cervical-spine injury and transported to the emergency department.Intervention Initial radiographic assessment (C-spine CT, right shoulder x-ray) showed no bony abnormality. MRI of the cervical-spine showed T2 signal change and cord swelling thought to be consistent with a cord contusion. With adequate pain control, a detailed neurological examination was possible and was consistent with an upper brachial plexus avulsion injury that was confirmed by CT myelogram. The patient failed to make significant neurological recovery and he underwent spinal accessory nerve grafting to the suprascapular nerve to restore shoulder abduction and external rotation, while the phrenic nerve was grafted to the musculocutaneous nerve to restore elbow flexion. Conclusion Cervical spinal-cord injuries and brachial plexus injuries can occur by the same high energy mechanisms and can occur simultaneously. As in this case, MRI findings can be misleading and a detailed physical examination is the key to diagnosis. However, this can be difficult in polytrauma patients with upper extremity injuries, head injuries or concomitant spinal-cord injury. Finally, prompt diagnosis and early surgical renerveration have been associated with better long-term recovery with certain types of injury

Search for RPV Scalar Leptons at Tevatron

We reviewed CDF and D0 searches for R-parity violation supersymmetry in leptons involved final states using up to 344+-21 pb-1 Tevatron Run II data of ppbar collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV. All the results were in good agreement with the standard model expectations. No evidence of new physics was observed. However, owing to the improvement on detectors, energy and luminosity from Run I to Run II, the limits for the existence of R-parity violation supersymmetry have been greatly advanced.Comment: EPS HEP2005 conference proceeding

Combinatorics and formal geometry of the master equation

We give a general treatment of the master equation in homotopy algebras and describe the operads and formal differential geometric objects governing the corresponding algebraic structures. We show that the notion of Maurer-Cartan twisting is encoded in certain automorphisms of these universal objects
