From maximum force to physics in 9 lines -- and implications for quantum gravity
A compact summary of present fundamental physics is given and evaluated. Its
9 lines contain both general relativity and the standard model of particle
physics. Their precise agreement with experiments, in combination with their
extreme simplicity and their internal consistency, suggest that there are no
experimental effects beyond the two theories. The combined properties of the 9
lines also imply concrete suggestions for the search for a theory of quantum
gravity. Finally, the 9 lines specify the only decisive tests that allow
checking any specific proposal for such a theory.Comment: 10 pages, 1 tabl
SU(3) Landau gauge gluon and ghost propagators using the logarithmic lattice gluon field definition
We study the Landau gauge gluon and ghost propagators of SU(3) gauge theory,
employing the logarithmic definition for the lattice gluon fields and
implementing the corresponding form of the Faddeev-Popov matrix. This is
necessary in order to consistently compare lattice data for the bare
propagators with that of higher-loop numerical stochastic perturbation theory
(NSPT). In this paper we provide such a comparison, and introduce what is
needed for an efficient lattice study. When comparing our data for the
logarithmic definition to that of the standard lattice Landau gauge we clearly
see the propagators to be multiplicatively related. The data of the associated
ghost-gluon coupling matches up almost completely. For the explored lattice
spacings and sizes discretization artifacts, finite-size and Gribov-copy
effects are small. At weak coupling and large momentum, the bare propagators
and the ghost-gluon coupling are seen to be approached by those of higher-order
NSPT.Comment: 18 pages, 19 figures, 5 table
General relativity and cosmology derived from principle of maximum power or force
The field equations of general relativity are shown to derive from the
existence of a limit force or of a limit power in nature. The limits have the
value of c^4/4G and c^5/4G. The proof makes use of a result by Jacobson. All
known experimental data is consistent with the limits. Applied to the universe,
the limits predict its darkness at night and the observed scale factor. Some
experimental tests of the limits are proposed. The main counter-arguments and
paradoxes are discussed, such as the transformation under boosts, the force
felt at a black hole horizon, the mountain problem, and the contrast to
scalar--tensor theories of gravitation. The resolution of the paradoxes also
clarifies why the maximum force and the maximum power have remained hidden for
so long. The derivation of the field equations shows that the maximum force or
power plays the same role for general relativity as the maximum speed plays for
special relativity.Comment: 24 pages, 1 figure, LaTeX, published versio
Screening of Patient Impairments in an Outpatient Clinic for Suspected Rare DiseasesâA Cross-Sectional Study
Background: Most rare diseases are chronic conditions with variable impairment of functionality, which can result in a need for rehabilitation. To our knowledge, there are no systematic studies on the rehabilitation needs of patients in centres for rare diseases in the literature. Our hypothesis is that participation of these patients is so limited that there is an increased need for rehabilitation. For this reason, a survey on the need for rehabilitation was carried out in all patients presenting to the centre for rare diseases, in order to assess the need for rehabilitative measures to counteract disturbances in activity and participation. Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed to collect data using a written questionnaire from December 2020 to June 2021, including patients presenting personally in the center for rare diseases. Results: Nearly 70% of the participants assessed their own ability to work as critical. Of those surveyed, n = 30 (44.9%) had PDI total â„ 33 points and, thus, a clear pain-related impairment. Conclusion: The results show functional restrictions in the areas of mental well-being and activity. As expected, the health-related quality of life is reduced as compared to healthy people. Almost half of the participants reported significant pain-related impairments, however, only 9% of all respondents stated that they had received appropriate pain therapy. The results show the need for rehabilitation-specific skills in the care and counseling of patients with rare diseases
Das Potenzial algenbasierter Kraftstoffe fĂŒr den Lkw-Verkehr. Sachstandsbericht zum Monitoring »Nachhaltige Potenziale der Bioökonomie â Biokraftstoffe der 3. Generation«

Transformations of the National:Rammsteinâs âDeutschlandâ as a Provocation of German History
This contribution examines the nexus between âthe politicalâ and popular music from an interdisciplinary perspective. Using Rammsteinâs highly provocative single âDeutschlandâ (2019) as an example, this case study showcases multiple different and often contradictory readings of the bandâs work with a view to its textual, visual, sonic and performative dimensions. Overall, this contribution suggests that the political in Rammstein oscillates between self-reference and historical reference, between deconstruction and marketability, and between scandalous irony and ambiguous sincerity
Sperm Lipid Composition in Early Diverged Fish Species: Internal vs. External Mode of Fertilization
The lipid composition of sperm membranes is crucial for fertilization and differs among species. As the evolution of internal fertilization modes in fishes is not understood, a comparative study of the sperm lipid composition in freshwater representatives of externally and internally fertilizing fishes is needed for a better understanding of taxa-specific relationships between the lipid composition of the sperm membrane and the sperm physiology. The lipidomes of spermatozoa from stingray, a representative of cartilaginous fishes possessing internal fertilization, and sterlet, a representative of chondrostean fishes with external fertilization, have been studied by means of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS), electrospray MS, gas chromatography-(GC) MS, and thin-layer chromatography (TLC). NMR experiments revealed higher cholesterol content and the presence of phosphatidylserine in stingray compared to sterlet sperm. Unknown MS signals could be assigned to different glycosphingolipids in sterlet (neutral glycosphingolipid Gal-Cer(d18:1/16:0)) and stingray (acidic glycosphingolipid sulpho-Gal-Cer(d18:1/16:0)). Free fatty acids in sterlet sperm indicate internal energy storage. GC-MS experiments indicated a significant amount of adrenic acid, but only a low amount of docosahexaenoic acid in stingray sperm. In a nutshell, this study provides novel data on sperm lipid composition for freshwater stingray and sterlet possessing different modes of fertilization
