Computing period matrices and the Abel-Jacobi map of superelliptic curves
International audienceWe present an algorithm for the computation of period matrices and the Abel-Jacobi map of complex superelliptic curves given by an equation y m = f (x). It relies on rigorous numerical integration of differentials between Weierstrass points, which is done using Gauss method if the curve is hyperelliptic (m = 2) or the Double-Exponential method. The algorithm is implemented and makes it possible to reach thousands of digits accuracy even on large genus curves

State transition and electrocaloric effect of BaZrTiO: simulation and experiment
The electrocaloric effect (ECE) of BaZrTiO (BZT) is closely
related to the relaxor state transition of the materials. This work presents a
systematic study on the ECE and the state transition of the BZT, using a
combined canonical and microcanonical Monte Carlo simulations based a
lattice-based on a Ginzburg-Landau-type Hamiltonian. For comparison and
verification, experimental measurements have been carried on BTO and BZT
( and ) samples, including the ECE at various temperatures, domain
patterns by Piezoresponse Force Microscopy at room temperature, and the P-E
loops at various temperatures. Results show that the dependency of BZT behavior
of the Zr-concentration can be classified into three different stages. In the
composition range of , ferroelectric domains are visible,
but ECE peak drops with increasing Zr-concentration harshly. In the range of , relaxor features become prominent, and the decrease of
ECE with Zr-concentration is moderate. In the high concentration range of , the material is almost nonpolar, and there is no ECE peak visible.
Results suggest that BZT with certain low range of Zr-concentration around
can be a good candidate with relatively high ECE and
simutaneously wide temperature application range at rather low temperature

Structural and Electric Properties of Epitaxial Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-Based Thin Films
Substantial efforts are dedicated worldwide to use lead-free materials for environmentally friendly processes in electrocaloric cooling. Whereas investigations on bulk materials showed that Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3 (NBT)-based compounds might be suitable for such applications, our aim is to clarify the feasibility of epitaxial NBT-based thin films for more detailed investigations on the correlation between the composition, microstructure, and functional properties. Therefore, NBT-based thin films were grown by pulsed laser deposition on different single crystalline substrates using a thin epitaxial La0.5Sr0.5CoO3 layer as the bottom electrode for subsequent electric measurements. Structural characterization revealed an undisturbed epitaxial growth of NBT on lattice-matching substrates with a columnar microstructure, but high roughness and increasing grain size with larger film thickness. Dielectric measurements indicate a shift of the phase transition to lower temperatures compared to bulk samples as well as a reduced permittivity and increased losses at higher temperatures. Whereas polarization loops taken at â100 °C revealed a distinct ferroelectric behavior, room temperature data showed a significant resistive contribution in these measurements. Leakage current studies confirmed a non-negligible conductivity between the electrodes, thus preventing an indirect characterization of the electrocaloric properties of these films
Itching in Patients with Chronic Hand Eczema: Data from the CARPE Registry
Background:
Itching is a leading symptom of chronic hand eczema (CHE) having a great impact on patients. The determinants of itching in CHE are unclear.
Objective: We performed a cross-sectional analysis investigating factors associated with the presence and severity of itch in CHE patients from the CARPE registry.
Methods: We present baseline data on itch in relationship with sociodemographic factors, severity of CHE, atopy, contact allergy, treatment and patient- reported outcomes including health-related quality of life (HRQoL).
Results: Of 1,051 patients with CHE, 78.1% reported itching. Significant positive associations with itching were observed for younger age groups (17-25 and 26-45 years), for moderate, severe and very severe CHE and for small/moderate impairment in HRQoL. Atopic skin diathesis, hardly being able to realize treatment recommendations and very or extremely large impairments in HRQoL were associated with itch severity.
Conclusion: Taking the identified variables into account may help identify vulnerable groups most affected by (severe) itch

A cross-sectional study investigating lifestyle and weight perception of undergraduate students in southern Italy
BACKGROUND:
The aim of the study was to explore lifestyle of undergraduate students in southern Italy and to investigate their determinants.
METHODS:
An anonymous, web-based questionnaire investigating weight and its perception, smoking and alcohol use, achievement of recommended levels of physical activity and time spent daily in screen-based sedentary behaviors was administered to students attending two universities in southern Italy. Age, gender, city, type of degree course attended, occupational status and residential status were considered as possible demographic determinants.
RESULTS:
The majority of the participants reported a normal weight (71.2%), were non-smokers (66.6%), occasional alcohol consumers (60.5%) and insufficiently active (62.6%), with a reported mean screen time exceeding 2âh per day. Gender, city, type of degree course and occupational status were found to be associated with lifestyle by regression analysis. Normal weight, overweight and obese students were generally properly aware of their weight condition; however, weight misperceptions were registered among normal and underweight undergraduates.
CONCLUSIONS:
This study highlighted some critical issues regarding lifestyles of university students that suggest the need for health promotion interventions targeted mainly on physical activity
Which outcomes have been measured in hand eczema trials? A systematic review:A systematic review
The considerable heterogeneity of outcomes and measurement instruments in hand eczema trials substantially limits the evidence synthesis concerning therapeutic and preventive interventions. Therefore, the Hand Eczema Core Outcome Set (HECOS) initiative is developing a core outcome set for future trials. The first objective was to identify outcomes that were measured in previous trials, to group them in domains, and to identify their measurement instruments. We conducted a systematic review of controlled and randomized controlled hand eczema trials published since 2000. Sixty-one eligible studies were identified. Each assessed one or more of 47 outcomes in the "skin" domain. Eighteen trials (30%) additionally focused on preventive behaviour in risk occupations. Quality of life was measured in 13 studies (21%). Thirty-two distinct named instruments were applied, but 223 measurements (62%) were conducted with unnamed instruments. Only 32 studies (52%) defined a primary outcome. Twenty-nine trials (48%) provided some information on adverse events, but none gave any references concerning relevant methods. Our review confirms the need to harmonize outcome measurements in hand eczema trials. The findings form the basis for a consensus process to generate a core outcome set to improve the explanatory power and comparability of future hand eczema studies.</p
