Questionando a natureza da urbanização contemporânea, a autora contrapõe as situações de fluxo/rede e de estático/circunscrito para examinar o papel que a cidade desempenha e pode vir a desempenhar nessa nova configuração. Após revisitar os conceitos de cidade, urbanismo e técnica e analisar de forma penetrante os principais paradigmas urbanísticos de nosso século, a autora busca cernir os principais elementos que caracterizam a desconstrução da cidade européia desde há 100 anos. Notas sobre a Carta de Veneza

This paper presents a critical reading of the Venice Charter, an Icomos key document, fruit of a conference held in 1964. The Charter is often quoted in Brazil but is not always properly understood. The conservation and restoration charters - especially those produced by international institutions - are documents that have an indicatory or, at the most, prescriptive character. They constitute the deontological foundation of many professionals involved in preservation, but they are not recipes for immediate use. In order to elaborate a well-founded reading of the document, its ideas must be understood in connection to the theoretical postulates of the time they were engendered and to the developments of the field. Thus this paper will examine these subjects, commenting and enlightening the Charter's articles and pointing out the origins of specific ideas. It also discusses how the Charter relates to previous documents and their theoretical foundations. This approach, based in a critical analysis, is necessary in order to reach a fuller interpretation of the Charter's indications so that they can be used in the present

Romantismo e objetividade: notas sobre um panorama do Rio de Janeiro

The article deals with the great Panorama of Rio de Janeiro exhibited in Paris, 1824, and its sources - a series of watercolours which have also generated succeeding engravings produced dur-ing the 1830s. Panoramas, in their early formal conventions are shown to interplay with Romanticism's and Naturphilosophie's theses and to put in motion the legacy of 11th-century paint-ing . As this geme of visual device develops, Rio's watercoulours display symptoms of a gradual dismissal of its initial ambilions, through lhe treatment of the natural site and the city. At last the invention of the daguerreotype and vai d'oiseau urban images, among other traits, signale the changes in sensibility related to the production and consumption of those circular canvasses. From 1840/50 on panoramas conceived by the will to fuse art and science and bya reflection on nature and liberty turn essentially into a mass entertainment.Romantismo e objetividade: notas sobre um panorama do Rio de Janeiro Margarelh da Silva Pereira Enfoca O grande Panorama do Rio de Janeiro, exibido em Paris em 1824, do qual se conhece a série de aquarelas que serviram de base tanto àquela ampliação quanto às sucessivas gravuras da cena que foram produzidas na década de 1830. Busca-se mostrar como os panoramas em sua formalização inicial dialogam com as teses do romantismo e da Naturphilosophie, mobilizan-do heranças da pintura seiscentista. No desenvolvimento desta forma de exibição as aquarelas do Rio apresentam sintomas do gradual afastamento das ambições iniciais através do tratamento dispensado ao sítio natural e à cidade. Por fim, a invenção do daguerreótipo, e as vistas urbanas em võo de pássaro, enlre outros, balizariam a mudança de sensibilidade na produção e na fruição dessas telas circulares. Imigração, patrimônio cultural e turismo no Brasil

The heritage of immigration, like all cultural expression, has multiple forms and understanding permeates the approach to several issues, among them: the various manifestations of cultural heritage, the intentions of conservation actions and appreciation of the cultural heritage of immigrant groups and practices for the resonance of this heritage, such as tourism. The objective of this paper is to analyze the heritage of immigration as a phenomenon that was constituted in a particular environment, not only by the above issues, but also as a particular form of instituting the past in the present and its consequences for the construction of collective identitiesO patrimônio da imigração, como toda expressão cultural, possui múltiplas formas e sua compreensão perpassa pela abordagem de várias questões, dentre elas: as várias manifestações do patrimônio cultural; as intencionalidades das ações de preservação e valorização da herança cultural de grupos de imigrantes; e as práticas para a ressonância deste patrimônio, como é o caso do turismo. O objetivo deste artigo é analisar o patrimônio da imigração como fenômeno que se constituiu num ambiente determinado, não só pelas questões acima, mas também como uma forma particular de instituir o passado no presente e seus desdobramentos para a construção de identidades coletivas
