The use e-learning resources by academic teachers - a Polish-Czech comparative study
The article is a result of the collaboration between Polish and Czech scientists
who explore the issues of applying resources from the e-learning environment
by academic teachers. The presented study was conducted in 2015 â 2016, within
the project IRNet â International research network for study and development
of new tools and methods for advanced pedagogical science in the field of ICT
instruments, e-learning and intercultural competences. The research was aimed
at learning academic teachersâ opinions on their own skills and possibilities
of using various resources from the e-learning environment, as well as the
ways in which they apply information and communication technologies in the
educational process

The article is a result of the collaboration between Polish and Czech scientists who explore the issues of applying the resources from e-learning environment by academic teachers. The presented studies were conducted in 2015-2016 within the IRNet project â International research network for study and development of new tools and methods for advanced pedagogical science in the field of ICT instruments, e-learning and intercultural competences in Poland (University of Silesia in Katowice, Faculty of Ethnology and Educational Science in Cieszyn) and the Czech Republic (University of Ostrava, Pedagogical Faculty). The undertaken research was aimed at learning the opinions of academic teachers on their preparation for distance classes and for the stimulation of studentsâ learning process. In the studies, the constructivist perspective was applied, which highlighted (in the educational process) the learnerâs activity resulting in the subject builds their educational reality. What was referred to due to the comparative nature of the research was Harold J. Noahâs model of comparing the quality of University education. The cases of Poland and the Czech Republic were discussed
Supporting the learning of Polish and Czech students by digital tools
The article presents the results of exploring the purposes of using digital tools
to support student learning at universities. This comprises some identified
types of digital tools and the frequency of their use by academic staff, which
varies due to their level of digital literacy. Then the collected data is provided
concerning the numbers of academic staff using basic electronic communication
methods. The above data were collected in Polish and Czech universities
and later compared to each other.
The presented study was conducted over the period 2015 â 2016 within
the IRNet project â International research network for study and development
of new tools and methods for advanced pedagogical science in the field of ICT
instruments, e-learning and intercultural competences in Poland (University
of Silesia, Faculty of Ethnology and Educational Science in Cieszyn) and the
Czech Republic (University of Ostrava, Pedagogical Faculty).
The undertaken research was aimed at recognizing academic teachersâ
activities concerning their support in university studentsâ learning process
Badania nad kompetencjami informatycznymi uczniĂłw i ich wykorzystanie w nauczaniu tych przedmiotĂłw na wybranych uniwersytetach. Polsko-czeskie stadium porĂłwnawcze
Due to the occurring changes, teaching qualifications cannot be assumed as unchangeable, nor can a permanent list of required pedagogical competences be established. Therefore, what is necessary is appropriate preparation of students â future teachers. This is associated with increasing the effectiveness of teacher training and with the need of lifelong education, which is a requirement of modern times. In this situation, the studies aimed at diagnosing studentsâ competences gain particular significance. They can enable verification and implementation (still at the stage of university studies) of some classes which will ensure optimal professional and social functioning of future teachers.
The studies discussed in the article were conducted in 2014-2015 within the IRNet project: International research network for study and development of new tools and methods for advanced pedagogical science
in the field of ICT instruments, e-learning and intercultural competences in Poland, University of Silesia, Faculty of Ethnology and Education in Cieszyn, and in the Czech Republic, University of Ostrava,
Pedagogical Faculty. The research aimed at specifying the level of information-communication, intercultural and technological (ICT) competences which Polish and Czech students acquire in the
course of education.3636537921Studia Edukacyjn
A new approach to an achievement motivation system for the choice of an engineering high school and field of study
Achievement motivation is an important prerequisite for studentsâ engagement, overcoming study difficulties and, ultimately, successful completion of their studies. The aim of this study is to find out the current level of performance motivation of the population of students of engineering high schools, to compare its level with the standard for high school population and to find out whether there is a relationship between its level and choice. Two questionnaires were used in the research. The first was the School Achievement Motivation Questionnaire for Pupils. The theory of achievement motivation is then based on the concept of independence of the need for successful performance and the need to avoid failure. The resulting orientation of a person in a performance situation then depends on the predominance of one or the other tendency. The second questionnaire was focused on finding personal data, questions of school choice, satisfaction with school choice and other. The research was carried out at the beginning of 2020 and the sample consisted of over 900 students. Main results of the study: First, in the component of performance motivation NACH (need to achieve) the performance motivation of the group is statistically different from the group norm. In the NAF (the need to avoid failure) component, the results are statistically identical. Second, schools do not differ in the results for the NACH component, but differ in the NAF component. Third, in both components, the value of performance motivation for beginners and for final years in both components is significantly different from other years. Fourth, the studentâs statement on the choice of study at an engineering school as a primary choice is not related to the values of NACH and NAF. Fifth, the level of studentâs achievement motivation in both components is related to the studentâs idea of studying
The Cultural Identity and Education of University Students in Selected East-Central Countries
In Polish and Czech pedagogy, there have not been many studies on the social, cultural and educational functioning of academic youth in a culturally diversified environment. The analysis of identity behaviours presented by university students from the Polish-Czech borderland and of their learning potentialities will provide a chance for mutual recognition, understanding and the enrichment of both cultures â along with providing a chance for cultural sensitization. Due to the applied culturalization attitudes, this will also enhance the participation in the culture of the neighbouring country and the shortening of cultural distance. Such studies are also associated with a reflection upon the way in which a contemporary human understands cultural dimensions, the role they play in human life and the scope in which they shape the individualâs own and their social/cultural identity

Objectives and Content of E-module âTools for Adaptive Learning. Learning Stylesâ within the MOOC Course âICT Tools for E-learningâ
The paper presents the objectives and content of the educational module âTools for Adaptive Learning. Learning Stylesâ within the MOOC course âICT Tools for E-learning,â which is being developed at the University of Ostrava as an outcome of the IRNet project. The main aim of the course is to provide both academic scholars and students with the theoretical foundation of adaptive learning that will allow them to acquire skills, to use the existing courses in the existing adaptive e-systems, and/or to create new courses and systems. The content of the course includes the following: defining basic constructs used in the course; overview of the development of adaptive learning with the use of educational technologies, its theoretical concepts, and representatives; presentation of the results of the previous researches and educational effects of adaptive (e-)learning, and some of the concepts of adaptive learning that have recently been developed at the University of Ostrava
