Decoherent Scattering of Light Particles in a D-Brane Background
We discuss the scattering of two light particles in a D-brane background. It
is known that, if one light particle strikes the D brane at small impact
parameter, quantum recoil effects induce entanglement entropy in both the
excited D brane and the scattered particle. In this paper we compute the
asymptotic `out' state of a second light particle scattering off the D brane at
large impact parameter, showing that it also becomes mixed as a consequence of
quantum D-brane recoil effects. We interpret this as a non-factorizing
contribution to the superscattering operator S-dollar for the two light
particles in a Liouville D-brane background, that appears when quantum D-brane
excitations are taken into account.Comment: 18 pages LATEX, one figure (incorporated
Timeless path integral for relativistic quantum mechanics
Starting from the canonical formalism of relativistic (timeless) quantum
mechanics, the formulation of timeless path integral is rigorously derived. The
transition amplitude is reformulated as the sum, or functional integral, over
all possible paths in the constraint surface specified by the (relativistic)
Hamiltonian constraint, and each path contributes with a phase identical to the
classical action divided by . The timeless path integral manifests the
timeless feature as it is completely independent of the parametrization for
paths. For the special case that the Hamiltonian constraint is a quadratic
polynomial in momenta, the transition amplitude admits the timeless Feynman's
path integral over the (relativistic) configuration space. Meanwhile, the
difference between relativistic quantum mechanics and conventional
nonrelativistic (with time) quantum mechanics is elaborated on in light of
timeless path integral.Comment: 41 pages; more references and comments added; version to appear in

ASTROD, ASTROD I and their gravitational-wave sensitivities
ASTROD (Astrodynamical Space Test of Relativity using Optical Devices) is a
mission concept with three spacecraft -- one near L1/L2 point, one with an
inner solar orbit and one with an outer solar orbit, ranging coherently with
one another using lasers to test relativistic gravity, to measure the solar
system and to detect gravitational waves. ASTROD I with one spacecraft ranging
optically with ground stations is the first step toward the ASTROD mission. In
this paper, we present the ASTROD I payload and accelerometer requirements,
discuss the gravitational-wave sensitivities for ASTROD and ASTROD I, and
compare them with LISA and radio-wave PDoppler-tracking of spacecraft.Comment: presented to the 5th Edoardo Amaldi Conference (July 6-11, 2003) and

The Supersonic Project: SIGOs, A Proposed Progenitor to Globular Clusters, and Their Connections to Gravitational-wave Anisotropies
Supersonically induced gas objects (SIGOs), are structures with little to no dark-matter component predicted to exist in regions of the universe with large relative velocities between baryons and dark matter at the time of recombination. They have been suggested to be the progenitors of present-day globular clusters. Using simulations, SIGOs have been studied on small scales (around 2 Mpc) where these relative velocities are coherent. However, it is challenging to study SIGOs using simulations on large scales due to the varying relative velocities at scales larger than a few Mpc. Here, we study SIGO abundances semi-analytically: using perturbation theory, we predict the number density of SIGOs analytically, and compare these results to small-box numerical simulations. We use the agreement between the numerical and analytic calculations to extrapolate the large-scale variation of SIGO abundances over different stream velocities. As a result, we predict similar large-scale variations of objects with high gas densities before reionization that could possibly be observed by JWST. If indeed SIGOs are progenitors of globular clusters, then we expect a similar variation of globular cluster abundances over large scales. Significantly, we find that the expected number density of SIGOs is consistent with observed globular cluster number densities. As a proof-of-concept, and because globular clusters were proposed to be natural formation sites for gravitational wave sources from binary black-hole mergers, we show that SIGOs should imprint an anisotropy on the gravitational wave signal on the sky, consistent with their distribution
Does the host match the content? A taxonomical update on online consumption communities
This article proposes a taxonomy of online consumption communities in order to address this rather ambiguously conceptualised research field. Specifically, intercommunity differences are investigated with regard to how content focus (brand vs activity) and its congruency with the type of host (doubled vs mixed) affect consumers’ posting behaviour. Based on an online survey (n = 888), a series of regressions of various benefits on posting behaviour supports the usability of the proposed taxonomy. In particular, social benefits had the strongest effect on consumers’ posting behaviour across all communities, while the effects of functional, altruistic and sharing benefits varied in significance and direction of influence when accounting for the different community characteristics. These findings help marketing managers to design online communities and motivate consumers to contribute. © 2015, Westburn Publishers Ltd
Bianchi type-I string cosmological model in the presence of a magnetic field: classical versus loop quantum cosmology approaches
A Bianchi type-I cosmological model in the presence of a magnetic flux along
a cosmological string is considered. The first objective of this study is to
investigate Einstein equations using a tractable assumption usually accepted in
the literature. Quantum effects of the present cosmological model are examined
in the framework of loop quantum cosmology. Finally we draw a parallel between
the classical and quantum approaches.Comment: 14 pages, 8 figure
