    On F-theory E_6 GUTs

    We approach the Minimum Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) from an E_6 GUT by using the spectral cover construction and non-abelian gauge fluxes in F-theory. We start with an E_6 singularity unfolded from an E_8 singularity and obtain E_6 GUTs by using an SU(3) spectral cover. By turning on SU(2) X U(1)^2 gauge fluxes, we obtain a rank 5 model with the gauge group SU(3) X SU(2) X U(1)^2.     Detection of Symmetry Enriched Topological Phases

    Topologically ordered systems in the presence of symmetries can exhibit new structures which are referred to as symmetry enriched topological (SET) phases. We introduce simple methods to detect the SET order directly from a complete set of topologically degenerate ground state wave functions. In particular, we first show how to directly determine the characteristic symmetry fractionalization of the quasiparticles from the reduced density matrix of the minimally entangled states. Second, we show how a simple generalization of a non-local order parameter can be measured to detect SETs. The usefulness of the proposed approached is demonstrated by examining two concrete model states which exhibit SET: (i) a spin-1 model on the honeycomb lattice and (ii) the resonating valence bond state on a kagome lattice. We conclude that the spin-1 model and the RVB state are in the same SET phases

    New Constructions of Zero-Correlation Zone Sequences

    In this paper, we propose three classes of systematic approaches for constructing zero correlation zone (ZCZ) sequence families. In most cases, these approaches are capable of generating sequence families that achieve the upper bounds on the family size (KK) and the ZCZ width (TT) for a given sequence period (NN). Our approaches can produce various binary and polyphase ZCZ families with desired parameters (N,K,T)(N,K,T) and alphabet size. They also provide additional tradeoffs amongst the above four system parameters and are less constrained by the alphabet size. Furthermore, the constructed families have nested-like property that can be either decomposed or combined to constitute smaller or larger ZCZ sequence sets. We make detailed comparisons with related works and present some extended properties.     Modeling the dynamic characteristics of human ossicles

    The dynamic characteristics of human ossicle responses to stimulus frequencies of 125 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 750 Hz, 1 kHz, 2 kHz, 3 kHz, 4 kHz, 5 kHz, 6 kHz, 7 kHz and 8 kHz were analyzed using a 3D image model that was constructed using the finite element method. The 3D image model of the ossicle chain was based on images previously obtained from highresolution computed tomography (CT) scans of the middle ear region of patients. The displacement at the footplate in the 3D model showed essentially no response when the ossicles were subjected to sound stimuli with frequencies above 2 kHz. However, the ossicles responded to sound stimuli with frequencies below 1 kHz, and the vibration of the ossicles was equivalent to the amplitude of the sound stimuli

    Investigating Resistance Factors in Last-Mile Drone Delivery

    This paper aims to fill an emerging research gap in alleviating general resistance to using drones in last-mile delivery. The risks that pertain to its program codes, package objects, and communication signals are what we identify and propose to be the significant resistance reasons. Our theoretical basis includes Diffusion of Innovations Theory (DIT) and Equity Theory (ET). Our methodological approach is based on a structured experiment where there are drones and delivery scenarios for our experimental participants to experience, followed by data collection and statistical analysis. Overall, this paper contributes to enhancing general satisfaction with last-mile drone delivery
