Sensitivity of Capital Market Development to Public Debt in Nigeria
This article investigated the sensitivity of capital market development to public debt in Nigeria using descriptive statistic, regression analysis, and the Engle-Granger co integration techniques for the period ranging from 1981 to 2014. The estimates from the descriptive analysis showed that both the market capitalization and public debt series were not normally distributed at 5% significance level. The ADF unit root test showed that the market capitalization and public debt series were integrated of order one (i.e., I (1)). The results from the regression model provide evidence to show that capital market development is not sensitive to domestic debt at any conventional level, but it is sensitive to external debt at 10% significance level. The estimates of the Engle-Granger co integration tests show that capital market development is not co integrated with public debt. It is recommended that capital market and debt management authorities should formulate policies will enhance linkage between the markets
Theorizing the place of evil within Sam Ukala’s Radical Theatre: A study of three plays
The radical dimension of Sam Ukala’s plays appears to have been captured by a good number of critics, whether this radicality is located in his experimentation with a new theatre soused in the folktale tradition, or conceptualised as the drive for a new society. There is, however, a major gap in all these articulations, and that is the absence of a detailed theorization of the place of evil within Ukala’s radical theatre. Consequently, what we intend to prove here is that Sam Ukala’s plays are not only representations of evil but also representations of the possibility of exorcising evil, that is, the possibility of conquering evil. We argue that it is through this portrayal of the ability of the human agent (typified sometimes as the suffering masses) to overcome evil that Sam Ukala’s plays can be said to be radical or have what Ogu-Raphael has identified as a ‘revolutionary tendency’ (164). The perspectives of evil in this essay will be drawn mainly from the works of such thinkers as Paul Ricoeur, St Augustine, and Friedrich Nietzsche, yet not excluding occasional insights from thinkers like Immanuel Kant, Richard B. Sewall, and so on. Sam Ukala’s Akpakaland, Break a Boil and Odour of Justice are the plays to be examined in this essay
The Effective Implementation of Agile Project Management in Healthcare IT Projects
This research paper investigates the effective implementation of Agile project management in the healthcare sector, focusing on its role in facilitating digital transformation initiatives. Through a comprehensive literature review, this study examines current practices, challenges, and future trends in healthcare digitalization, emphasizing the pivotal role of IT project management. Key concepts, models, and success metrics are analyzed, with particular attention to the adoption of Agile methodologies and stakeholder collaboration. Challenges such as interoperability, resistance to change, and data security are scrutinized alongside strategic solutions. The paper also outlines future opportunities, including AI integration and blockchain, and offers recommendations for enhancing the effectiveness of Agile project management in healthcare. Overall, this research provides valuable insights into the dynamics of IT project management in driving successful digital transformations in healthcare
Scholarly Electronic Journals: Availability and Use in Universities in Nigeria
Current print journals have become scarce commodity in university libraries of the developing countries serials have become a scarce commodity in university libraries of developing countries. This is because of the high cost of these materials. In Nigeria the situation is worsened by the high exchange rate of the Naira to foreign currencies. Electronic journals have come as a better, cheaper alternative to the print format. Knowledge seekers and information professionals need to be familiar with the use of this novel resource format. This research explored the availability and use of electronic journals (e- journals) in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka amongst academics, including librarians. A structured questionnaire was used to elisit information from respondents. Descriptive statistics was used to present the data for discussion. Findings showed that majority of the sampled population were well aware of the existence of e-journals. 93.13% of the respondents have used them to source information pertaining to their research and studies. Internet-ready computers provided by the university; cybercafés in and around the University and personal laptop computers with wireless access were sources of access. Respondents face varied challenges against smooth access to e-resources. The university library is poised to tackle many of the challenge in order to give their user unrestricted access
Study of the influence of the banking sector development on the inflows of foreign investment in Nigeria and Ghana
The level of bank development has a determinant effect on the growth potentials of a developing economy. In response, this study examined the impact of banking sector development on foreign investment inflows in the West African countries of Nigeria and Ghana. The study relied on secondary data for analysis and made use of multiple regression technique. However, to ensure the authenticity of our result, Augmented Dickey-Fuller unit root test and Johansen Cointegration techniques were respectively employed to test for the presence unit root and long-run equilibrium relationship in the exogenous variables. Additionally, causal relationships were tested with Granger Causality. It was revealed that banking sector development has a significant influence on foreign investment inflows in the two West African countries. Specifically, domestic credit to private sector and bank deposit rate has significant influence on foreign investment inflows in both countries. Where as domestic credit to private sector is directly related to the dependent variable in Ghana, it is related inversely in Nigeria. It was also discovered that bank lending rate is significantly and positively related to foreign investment in Ghana. Intermediation efficiency and profitability of banks should be improved by enhancing the capital structure and adopting the appropriate lending rate especially in Nigeria as measures to attract more inflows of foreign investment in both countries
