Zaryadye Park, Glass Grid Shell Roof

This paper will describe the design, detailing, testing and construction of the structural glass beams which make up the load bearing grid shell structure of the newly built Zaryadye Park in Moscow, Russia. The canopy structure is situated short distance from Red Square and the Kremlin. Structural glass beams, 72 in total, are connected into the main undulating steel grid shell structure which measures approximately 120m long and 60m wide.  The beams themselves vary in length according to the geometry but are generally 3m long, 0.2m deep. The beams meet each other and the main steel structure at bespoke stainless steel nodes, and are topped by triangular glass roof panels. The glass beams were designed to accommodate Moscow’s extreme weather conditions, with drifted snow loads of up to 350 kg/m2. Differential movement of the main structure was another challenge for the design team, and required sophisticated linear analysis with over 150 load combinations. The resulting movements called for further development of the nodal connections and non-linear analysis of their performance. Due to a lack of legislation covering structural glass in Russia a so called ‘Special Technical Standard’ was required.  This document was written with significant input from us and covers the technical aspects of glass and its performance. A full scale mock-up of one roof panel, complete with beams and node connections, was constructed and tested to gain approvals from the authorities. Zaryadye Park is Moscow’s first new major landmark in 50 years and was opened on the 9th of September in time for the City Day celebrations

New species and records of saxicolous lichens from the Kodar Range (Trans-Baikal Territory, Russia)

Fifty-six species of saxicolous lichens are reported for the first time from the Kodar Range. Circinaria scyphulifera is described as new to science. Aspicilia nikrapensis and Fuscidea submollis are new for Russia; Aspicilia sublapponica, Lepra monogona and Thelignya lignyota are new for southern Siberia; and 35 species of saxicolous lichens are reported for the first time for the Stanovoye Nagor'e highlands. Fuscopannaria ahlneri alredy appears in the Red Data Book of the Trans-Baikal Territory. © 2018 Sergey Chesnokov et al., published by Sciendo. We thank Evgeny Davydov (Barnaul, Russia), Dmitry Himel-brant (St. Petersburg, Russia) and Alexandr Ezhkin (Yuzh-no-Sakhalinsk, Russia) for identifying some specimens, and the reviewers for valuable help. Photoproduction of electron-positron pairs in bent single crystals

The process of photoproduction of electron-positron pairs in bent single crystals is considered in this paper. In particular, it is shown that the probability of the process for gamma-quanta with energies from 100 GeV on is significantly higher than the one in an amorphous medium. A possible scenario for the experimental validation of the process is discussed and the positive features of the photoproduction in bent crystals compared to straight ones are underlined from the point of view of possible applications.Comment: 13 pages, 6 figure

Channeling of high energy beams in nanotubes

    Get PDF
We present simulations of particle beam channeling in carbon nanotubes and evaluate the possibilities for experimental observation of channeling effect in straight and bent nanotubes at IHEP and LNF. Different particle species are considered: protons of 1.3 and 70 GeV, and positrons of 0.5 GeV. Predictions are made for the experiments, with analysis of requirements on the quality of nanosamples and resolution of the experimental set-up. Based on Monte Carlo simulations, the capabilities of nanotube channeling technique for particle beam steering are discussed

The measurement results of carbon ion beam structure extracted by bent crystal from U-70 accelerator

The carbon ion +6C beam with energy 25 GeV/nucleon was extracted by bent crystal from the U-70 ring. The bent angle of silicon crystal was 85 mrad. About 2*105 particles for 109 circulated ions in the ring were observed in beam line 4a after bent crystal. Geometrical parameters, time structure and ion beam structure were measure

Spectral distribution in the reflection of parametric X-rays

The parametric X-ray radiation (PXR) spectra are measured on condition when the angular size of PXR cone is smaller than the angular resolution of the experiment. The PXR is generated under interaction of 50GeV proton beam with silicon crystal in Bragg geometry. The comparison of experimental data with results of developed theoretical model is presented and discusse

High-voltage pulse discharge as factor of the methanogenesis initiation

    Get PDF
Results of scientific research on influence of the high-voltage pulse discharge on process of bioorganic waste methane sludge fermentation in agricultural production are given in the article. Powerful infra- and ultrasonic fluctuations leading to emergence of shock waves exert strong impact on processes: disinfecting, cleanings and deflocculation of bioorganic mix, as well as on activity of various physical and chemical changes of synthesis products. Selecting the modes of high-voltage pulse processing, it is possible to provide highly productive anaerobic bacteria. At the same time "artificial selection" as a result of which weak microorganisms perish is observed, and the strong group remains. Viable species of microorganisms, having received at the order nutrient medium, as a result of destruction and death of weak microorganisms, begin to breed quickly, increasing growth of a biofilm responsible for a biogas exit. For the analysis of experimental data on development of technological process for anaerobic sludge fermentation the method of trans-resonant functional topography which provided informational content of the active environment concerning ions and free radicals arising in the course of modifying the organic substratum was used. Keywords: biogas unit, anaerobic sludge fermentation, electro technology, methanogenesis, pulse discharge, bioorganic waste, water substratum, organic fertilizers, processing, ecology
