A Systematic Study on Energy Dependence of Quasi-Periodic Oscillation Frequency in GRS 1915+105
Systematically studying all the RXTE/PCA observations for GRS 1915+105 before
November 2010, we have discovered three additional patterns in the relation
between Quasi-Periodic Oscillation (QPO) frequency and photon energy, extending
earlier outcomes reported by Qu et al. (2010). We have confirmed that as QPO
frequency increases, the relation evolves from the negative correlation to
positive one. The newly discovered patterns provide new constraints on the QPO
models
Changes of tau profiles in brains of the hamsters infected with scrapie strains 263 K or 139 A possibly associated with the alteration of phosphate kinases

Abstract

Background

Phospho-tau deposition has been described in a rare genetic human prion disease, Gerstmann-Sträussler-Scheinker syndrome, but is not common neuropathological picture for other human and animal transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs). This study investigated the possible changes of tau and phosphorylated tau (p-tau, at Ser396, Ser404, and Ser202/Thr205) in scrapie experimental animals.

Methods

The profiles of tau and p-tau (p-tau, at Ser396, Ser404, and Ser202/Thr205) in the brain tissues of agents 263K- or 139A-infected hamsters were evaluated by Western blots and real-time PCR. Meanwhile, the transcriptional and expressive levels of GSK3β and CDK5 in the brains were tested.

Results

The contents of total tau and p-tau at Ser202/Thr205 increased, but p-tau at Ser396 and Ser404 decreased at the terminal stages, regardless of scrapie strains. Transcriptional levels of two tau isoforms were also increased. Additionally, it showed higher CDK5, but lower GSK3β transcriptional and expressive levels in the brains of scrapie-infected animals. Analysis of brain samples collected from different times after inoculated with agent 263 K revealed that the changes of tau profiles and phosphate kinases were time-relative events.

Conclusion

These data suggest that changes of profiles of p-tau at Ser396, Ser404 and Ser202/Thr205 are illness-correlative phenomena in TSEs, which may arise of the alteration of phosphate kinases. Alteration of tau, p-tau (Ser396, Ser404, and Ser202/Thr205), GSK3β and CDK5 were either intermediate or consequent events in TSE pathogenesis and proposed the potential linkage of these bioactive proteins with the pathogenesis of prion diseases.</p
Observation of an anomalous line shape of the mass spectrum near the mass threshold in
Using events collected by the BESIII experiment
in 2012, we study the
process and observe a significant abrupt change in the slope of the
invariant mass distribution at the
proton-antiproton () mass threshold. We use two models to
characterize the line shape around
: one which explicitly incorporates the opening of a
decay threshold in the mass spectrum (Flatt\'{e} formula), and another which is
the coherent sum of two resonant amplitudes. Both fits show almost equally good
agreement with data, and suggest the existence of either a broad state around
with strong couplings to final states or a
narrow state just below the mass threshold. Although we cannot
distinguish between the fits, either one supports the existence of a
molecule-like state or bound state with greater than significance
Observation of a charged charmoniumlike structure in at GeV
We study the process at a
center-of-mass energy of 4.26GeV using a 827pb data sample obtained with
the BESIII detector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider. Based on a
partial reconstruction technique, the Born cross section is measured to be
pb. We observe a structure near the
threshold in the recoil mass spectrum, which we denote as the
. The measured mass and width of the structure are
MeV/c and MeV, respectively. Its
production ratio is determined to be . The first uncertainties
are statistical and the second are systematic.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures, 1 table; version accepted to be published in PR
Study of
We present an analysis of the decay based
on data collected by the BESIII experiment at the resonance. Using
a nearly background-free sample of 18262 events, we measure the branching
fraction . For GeV/ the partial branching fraction is
. A partial wave analysis shows that the dominant
component is accompanied by an \emph{S}-wave contribution accounting for
of the total rate and that other components are
negligible. The parameters of the resonance and of the
form factors based on the spectroscopic pole dominance predictions are also
measured. We also present a measurement of the helicity
basis form factors in a model-independent way.Comment: 17 pages, 6 figure
Improved measurement of the absolute branching fraction of
By analyzing 2.93 fb of data collected at GeV with the
BESIII detector, we measure the absolute branching fraction , which is consistent with previous measurements within
uncertainties but with significantly improved precision. Combining the Particle
Data Group values of , , and the lifetimes of the and
mesons with the value of measured in this work, we determine the following ratios of
partial widths: and .Comment: 9 pages; 8 figure
Search for Baryonic Decays of \psi(3770) and \psi(4040)
By analyzing data samples of 2.9 fb^{-1} collected at \sqrt s=3.773 GeV, 482
pb^{-1} collected at \sqrt s=4.009 GeV and 67 pb^{-1} collected at \sqrt
s=3.542, 3.554, 3.561, 3.600 and 3.650 GeV with the BESIII detector at the
BEPCII storage ring, we search for \psi(3770) and \psi(4040) decay to baryonic
final states, including \Lambda\bar\Lambda\pi^+\pi^-, \Lambda \bar\Lambda\pi^0,
\Lambda\bar\Lambda\eta, \Sigma^+ \bar\Sigma^-, \Sigma^0 \bar\Sigma^0,
\Xi^-\bar\Xi^+ and \Xi^0\bar\Xi^0 decays. None are observed, and upper limits
are set at the 90% confidence level.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figure
Search for the Lepton Flavor Violation Process at BESIII
We search for the lepton-flavor-violating decay of the into an
electron and a muon using events
collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. Four candidate
events are found in the signal region, consistent with background expectations.
An upper limit on the branching fraction of (90% C.L.) is obtained
Amplitude Analysis of the Decays and
Based on a sample of events collected with the
BESIII detector, an amplitude analysis of the isospin-violating decays
and is performed. A significant -wave contribution from
is observed for the first time
in . The branching fraction is
determined to be , where the
first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third model
dependent. In addition to the nonresonant -wave component, there is a
significant meson component. The branching fractions of the combined
-wave components are determined to be and , respectively. The latter one is consistent with previous BESIII
measurements.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figure
Precision Measurement of the Mass of the Lepton
An energy scan near the pair production threshold has been performed
using the BESIII detector. About pb of data, distributed over four
scan points, was collected. This analysis is based on pair decays to
, , , , , , , and
final states, where denotes a charged or . The mass of the
lepton is measured from a maximum likelihood fit to the pair production
cross section data to be )
MeV/, which is currently the most precise value in a single measurement.Comment: 13 pages, 7 figure
