    Reciclagem dos Resíduos Sólidos de Rochas Ornamentais

    Dimension stone industry produces a great amount of effluents, about 200,000 ton/year per solid residue. Espírito Santo State has about 600 companies, and their average consume per industry is around are 10,000 l/ day of water. Those rejects are displaced in decant lagoons, and landfill. In this work was used material provided by marble & granite industry from Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, ES. Those residues were characterized by chemical and mineral composition, physical properties, sintering process, and point load test. The results provided from physical indices and sintering material were compared with the results of commercial granite named in Industry as “granito rosa bavena”. Analysis allowed us to get a conclusion about the reject. These analyses showed that reject could be used as a source for ceramic material, with the possibility of choosing for a greater or lower resistance

    Correlações entre a Capacidade de Estocagem Geológica e Criogênica de Gás Natural e as Características das Indústrias de Gás no Mundo

    A estocagem de gás natural em estruturas geológicas ou em tanques criogênicos de terminais de liquefação ou de regaseificação de gás natural liquefeito (GNL) é muito relevante em diversos países onde o gás possui importante papel em suas economias. Para países que ainda não possuem armazenagens, como o Brasil, é fundamental observar a já vasta experiência internacional nesta área de forma a planejar o desenvolvimento de seus setores de gás. Assim, este trabalho teve como objetivo identificar por meio de regressões lineares as correlações existentes entre a capacidade de estocagem de gás dos países que contam com essa tecnologia e algumas características dos seus setores de gás, tais como volumes de reservas, produção e consumo, dentre outros. Como resultado, identificou-se, para os armazenamentos criogênicos, maior correlação com o nível de reservas provadas em terminais de liquefação de gás natural e maior correlação com os volumes de importação em terminais de regaseificação. Já para as estocagens geológicas, foram observadas correlações muito altas com o nível de consumo e o grau de desenvolvimento da infraestrutura. Por fim, verificou-se que há pouca correlação entre capacidade de armazenamento e existência de excesso de gás.

    Technological Monitoring Applied to Survey-Based on Brazilian Patent Applications about PEMFC

    The present study aims to show the importance of patents as an instrument of technological innovation and to assess the relevance of technology of PEMFC in Brazil by means of the technological monitoring methodology from 1996 to 2005. This study used different Industrial Property Databases (INPI-BR, ESPACENET and DWPI), in order to retrieve the BR applications in each database. Relevant keywords as “fuel cell” were used in combination with specific IPC (H01M8) in order to assess the main applicants, countries, IPCs and technological innovation over time. In Brazil, the country holding more requests in this area is the United States (US) with 53,7% of the patent applications, while Brazil (BR) accounts for 4,4% of the total requests. It was also observed that the North-American company, UTC Fuel Cells comes on top of the list and that there were no patent applications of Brazilian origin (BR) in other countries

No Estado do Espírito Santo, que tem cerca de 600 empresas, o consumo médio por empresa é da ordem de 10.000 l/dia. Os rejeitos em sua grande maioria são descartados em lagoas de decantação e aterros. Neste trabalho coletou-se material do efluente sólido da indústria do mármore e do granito oriundo de uma serraria da cidade de Cachoeiro do Itapemirim, Estado do Espírito Santo e caracterizou-se este resíduo quanto à composição química, mineralógica, propriedades físicas, ensaio de sinterização e teste de compressão pontual. Os resultados dos índices físicos e da resistência do material sinterizados foram comparados com o granito comercial denominado na indústria como "granito rosa bavena", da região do Município de Castelo, Espírito Santo. As análises permitiram concluir que o rejeito pode ser fonte para material cerâmico, com possibilidade de se optar por uma maior ou menor resistência

    The Consumers' interest for products with caloric reduction has increased, and their development is a technological challenge. The consumption of cakes has grown in importance and the demand for dietary products has stimulated the use of sweeteners and the optimization of bakery products. The consumption of fibers is related to chronic diseases prevention. Pumpkin seeds (maximum Cucurbita, L.), rich in fibers, can be used as a source of fiber in food products. A gluten-free diet is not easy to follow since gluten free products are not always available. The objective of this work was to perform a physicochemical characterization of cakes prepared with flours blends (FB) based on Pumpkin Seed Flour (PSF). The cakes were elaborated with FB in the ratios of 30:70 (C30) and 40:60 (C40) of PSF and cornstarch (CS), respectively. The results showed gluten absence and near-neutral pH. The chemical analysis of C30 and B40 showed increase of ashes, lipids, proteins, and insoluble dietary fiber and a decrease in the content of carbohydrates and calories. The chemical composition of C40 presented the greatest content of lipids, proteins, and dietary fibers, the lowest content of calories, and the best physical parameters. Therefore, both products proved suitable for human consumption

    Technological Monitoring Study Based on Invention Patents of Omeprazoleand Derivatives with Pharmaceutical Applications

    The current study intends to present the relevance of omeprazole, esomeprazole, rabeprazole, pantoprazole and lansoprazole by means of the technological foresight study, through invention patent documents from Brazilian applicants as indicators of innovation. The European database of patents (Espacenet), Word Patent Index (DERWENT) and the Brazilian Patent Base of INPI were used, combining keywords and International Patent Classifications. The major applicants, countries of publication and claims categories were mapped. The 212 patent requests collected are mainly distributed in Chemistry, Pharmacy and Pharmacology areas. The results obtained revealed that the US was the main country with studies directed to this technological area (59 patent applications) and the major applicant was the company Astrazeneca AB. Therefore, we can understand that this is a promising technology that may reflect in an increase of R&D activities and patent applications in this area

    Technological Foresight Based on Citing and Cited Patents of Cellulose with Pharmaceutical Aplications.

    The present study intends to present the relevance of cellulose by means of the technological foresight study through citing and cited documents from a patent application (WO 9745131 A1) as indicators of innovation. The European database of patents (espacenet) was used, combining keywords and IPC. The major applicants, countries of publication and uses were mapped. The patent requests collected are mainly distributed in the area of polymers to medical devices and therapeutic methods that utilize cellulose. The results obtained revealed that the US were the main country with studies directed to this technological area (18 patent applications) and the major applicant was the company Micro Therapeutics Inc. Therefore, we can understand that this is a promising technology that may reflect in an increase of R&D activities and in the patent deposits in this area
