() spectroscopy using Cornell potential
The mass spectra and decay properties of heavy quarkonia are computed in
nonrelativistic quark-antiquark Cornell potential model. We have employed the
numerical solution of Schr\"odinger equation to obtain their mass spectra using
only four parameters namely quark mass (, ) and confinement strength
(, ). The spin hyperfine, spin-orbit and tensor
components of the one gluon exchange interaction are computed perturbatively to
determine the mass spectra of excited , , and states. Digamma,
digluon and dilepton decays of these mesons are computed using the model
parameters and numerical wave functions. The predicted spectroscopy and decay
properties for quarkonia are found to be consistent with available experimental
observations and results from other theoretical models. We also compute mass
spectra and life time of the meson without additional parameters. The
computed electromagnetic transition widths of heavy quarkonia and mesons
are in tune with available experimental data and other theoretical approaches
Perturbativity constraints on and left-right models and implications for heavy gauge boson searches
We derive perturbativity constraints on beyond standard model scenarios with
extra gauge groups, such as or , whose generators contribute to
the electric charge, and show that there are both upper and lower limits on the
additional gauge couplings, from the requirement that the couplings remain
perturbative up to the grand unification theory (GUT) scale. This leads to
stringent constraints on the masses of the corresponding gauge bosons and their
collider phenomenology. We specifically focus on the models based on
and the left-right symmetric
models based on , and discuss the
implications of the perturbativity constraints for new gauge boson searches at
current and future colliders. In particular, we find that the stringent flavor
constraints in the scalar sector of left-right model set a lower bound on the
right-handed scale TeV, if all the gauge and quartic couplings
are to remain perturbative up to the GUT scale. This precludes the prospects of
finding the boson in the left-right model at the LHC, even in the
high-luminosity phase, and leaves only a narrow window for the boson. A
much broader allowed parameter space, with the right-handed scale up to

Predictions from non trivial Quark-Lepton complementarity
The complementarity between the quark and lepton mixing matrices is shown to
provide robust predictions. We obtain these predictions by first showing that
the matrix V_M, product of the quark (CKM) and lepton (PMNS) mixing matrices,
may have a zero (1,3) entry which is favored by experimental data.
We obtain that any theoretical model with a vanishing (1,3) entry of V_M that
is in agreement with quark data, solar, and atmospheric mixing angle leads to
. This value is consistent with the
present 90% CL experimental upper limit. We also investigate the prediction on
the lepton phases. We show that the actual evidence, under the only assumption
that the correlation matrix V_M product of CKM and PMNS has a zero in the entry
(1,3), gives us a prediction for the three CP-violating invariants J, S_1, and
S_2. A better determination of the lepton mixing angles will give stronger
prediction for the CP-violating invariants in the lepton sector. These will be
tested in the next generation experiments. Finally we compute the effect of non
diagonal neutrino mass in "l_i -> l_j gamma" in SUSY theories with non trivial
Quark-Lepton complementarity and a flavor symmetry. The Quark-Lepton
complementarity and the flavor symmetry strongly constrain the theory and we
obtain a clear prediction for the contribution to "mu -> e gamma" and the "tau"
decays "tau -> e gamma" and "tau -> mu gamma". If the Dirac neutrino Yukawa
couplings are degenerate but the low energy neutrino masses are not degenerate,
then the lepton decays are related among them by the V_M entries. On the other
hand, if the Dirac neutrino Yukawa couplings are hierarchical or the low energy
neutrino masses are degenerate, then the prediction for the lepton decays comes

Metal Chalcogenide Clusters with Closed Electronic Shells and the Electronic Properties of Alkalis and Halogens
Clusters with filled electronic shells and a large gap between the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) are generally energetically and chemically stable. Enabling clusters to become electron donors with low ionization energies or electron acceptors with high electron affinities usually requires changing the valence electron count. Here we demonstrate that a metal cluster may be transformed from an electron donor to an acceptor by exchanging ligands while the neutral form of the clusters has closed electronic shells. Our studies on Co6Te8(PEt3),(CO) (m + n = 6) clusters show that Co6Te8(PEt3)(6) has a closed electronic shell and a low ionization energy of 4.74 eV, and the successive replacement of PEt3 by CO ligands ends with Co6Te8(CO)(6) exhibiting halogen-like behavior. Both the low ionization energy Co6Te8(PEt3)(6) and high electron affinity Co6Te8(CO)(6) have closed electronic shells marked by high HOMO-LUMO gaps of 1.24 and 1.39 eV, respectively. Further, the clusters with an even number of ligands favor a symmetrical placement of ligands around the metal core
Dihydrobenz[e][1,4]oxazepin-2(3H)-ones, a new anthelmintic chemotype immobilising whipworm and reducing infectivity in vivo
Trichuris trichiura is a human parasitic whipworm infecting around 500 million people globally, damaging the physical growth and educational performance of those infected. Current drug treatment options are limited and lack efficacy against the worm, preventing an eradication programme. It is therefore important to develop new treatments for trichuriasis. Using Trichuris muris, an established model for T. trichiura, we screened a library of 480 novel drug-like small molecules for compounds causing paralysis of the ex vivo adult parasite. We identified a class of dihydrobenz[e][1,4]oxazepin-2(3H)-one compounds with anthelmintic activity against T. muris. Further screening of structurally related compounds and resynthesis of the most potent molecules led to the identification of 20 active dihydrobenzoxazepinones, a class of molecule not previously implicated in nematode control. The most active immobilise adult T. muris with EC50 values around 25–50μM, comparable to the existing anthelmintic levamisole. The best compounds from this chemotype show low cytotoxicity against murine gut epithelial cells, demonstrating selectivity for the parasite. Developing a novel oral pharmaceutical treatment for a neglected disease and deploying it via mass drug administration is challenging. Interestingly, the dihydrobenzoxazepinone OX02983 reduces the ability of embryonated T. muris eggs to establish infection in the mouse host in vivo. Complementing the potential development of dihydrobenzoxazepinones as an oral anthelmintic, this supports an alternative strategy of developing a therapeutic that acts in the environment, perhaps via a spray, to interrupt the parasite lifecycle. Together these results show that the dihydrobenzoxazepinones are a new class of anthelmintic, active against both egg and adult stages of Trichuris parasites. They demonstrate encouraging selectivity for the parasite, and importantly show considerable scope for further optimisation to improve potency and pharmacokinetic properties with the aim of developing a clinical agent
Young stellar population and ongoing star formation in the HII complex Sh2-252
In this paper an extensive survey of the star forming complex Sh2-252 has
been undertaken with an aim to explore its hidden young stellar population as
well as to understand the structure and star formation history. This complex is
composed of five embedded clusters associated with the sub-regions A, C, E, NGC
2175s and Teu 136. Using 2MASS-NIR and Spitzer-IRAC, MIPS photometry we
identified 577 young stellar objects (YSOs), of which, 163 are Class I, 400 are
Class II and 14 are transition disk YSOs. Spatial distribution of the candidate
YSOs shows that they are mostly clustered around the sub-regions in the western
half of the complex, suggesting enhanced star formation activity towards its
west. Using the spectral energy distribution and optical colour-magnitude
diagram based age analyses, we derived probable evolutionary status of the
sub-regions of Sh2-252. Our analysis shows that the region A is the youngest (~
0.5 Myr), the regions B, C and E are of similar evolutionary stage (~ 1-2 Myr)
and the clusters NGC 2175s and Teu 136 are slightly evolved (~ 2-3 Myr).
Morphology of the region in the 1.1 mm map shows a semi-circular shaped
molecular shell composed of several clumps and YSOs bordering the western
ionization front of Sh2-252. Our analyses suggest that next generation star
formation is currently under way along this border and that possibly
fragmentation of the matter collected during the expansion of the HII region as
one of the major processes responsible for such stars. We observed the densest
concentration of YSOs (mostly Class I, ~ 0.5 Myr) at the western outskirts of
the complex, within a molecular clump associated with water and methanol masers
and we suggest that it is indeed a site of cluster formation at a very early
evolutionary stage, sandwiched between the two relatively evolved CHII regions

Secured Decentralized Confidential Data Distributed in the Disruption-Tolerant Military Network
Disruption tolerant network technologies are becoming successful solutions that allow wireless devices carried by soldiers to communicate with each other and access the confidential information or command reliably by exploiting external storage nodes. Some of the most challenging issues in this scenario are the enforcement of authorization policies and the policies update for secure data retrieval. Cipher text-policy attribute-based encryption is a promising cryptographic solution to the access control issues. However, the problem of applying CP-ABE in decentralized DTNs introduces several security and privacy challenges with regard to the attribute revocation, key escrow, and coordination of attributes issued from different authorities. We propose a secure data retrieval scheme using idea for decentralized DTNs where multiple key authorities manage their attributes independently. We demonstrate how to apply the proposed mechanism to securely and efficiently manage the confidential data distributed in the disruption-tolerant military network
Optical and Near-infrared survey of the stellar contents associated with the star-forming Complex Sh2-252
We present the analyses of the stellar contents associated with the HII
region Sh2-252 using UBVRI photometry, slit and slitless spectroscopy along
with the NIR data from 2MASS for an area ~1 degree x 1 degree. We studied the
sub-regions of Sh2-252 which includes four compact-HII (CHII) regions, namely
A, B, C and E and two clusters NGC 2175s and Teutsch 136 (Teu 136). Of the
fifteen spectroscopically observed bright stars, eight have been identified as
massive members of spectral class earlier than B3. From the spectro-photometric
analyses, we derived the average distance of the region as 2.4+/-0.2 kpc and
the reddening of the massive members is found to vary between 0.35 to 2.1 mag.
We found that NGC 2175s and Teu 136, located towards the eastern edge of the
complex are the sub-clusters of Sh2-252. The stellar surface density
distribution in K-band shows clustering associated with the regions A, C, E,
NGC 2175s and Teu 136. We have also identified the candidate ionizing sources
of the CHII regions. 61 H_alpha emission sources are identified using slitless
spectroscopy. The distribution of the H_alpha emission sources and candidate
YSOs with IR excess on the V/(V-I) CMD shows that a majority of them have
approximate ages between 0.1 - 5 Myr and masses in the range of 0.3 - 2.5
M_sun. The CMDs of the candidate YSOs in the individual regions also show an
age spread of 0.1 - 5 Myr for each of them. We calculated the KLFs for the
sub-regions A, C, E, NGC 2175s and Teu 136. Within errors, the KLFs for all the
sub-regions are found to be similar and comparable to that of young clusters of
age < 5 Myr. We also estimated the mass functions (MFs) of the PMS sample of
the individual regions in the mass range of 0.3 - 2.5 M_sun. In general, the
slopes of the MFs of all the sub-regions are found comparable to the Salpeter

Symmetry and magnetism in Ni9Te6 clusters ligated by CO or phosphine ligands
The removal of a single ligand from the magnetic Ni9Te6(L)(8) (L = P(CH3)(3), CO) clusters is found to quench the magnetic moment. The reduction in magnetic moment is caused by a geometric deformation of the Ni9Te6 core that breaks the octahedral symmetry of the cluster. This effect is observed in both the CO and phosphine based ligands. The octahedral symmetry bare cluster is also found to have a large magnetic moment. These results highlight the dilemma faced by magnetic ligand protected clusters whose symmetry has been broken: whether to break the spin symmetry as in Hund\u27s rules or to break the spatial symmetry as in the Jahn-Teller effect. The spatial symmetry breaking is found to be an oblate distortion that forms additional Ni-Te bonds resulting in the enhanced stability of the cluster
In Vitro Propagation and Conservation of Inula Racemosa Hook. F. an Endangered Medicinal Plant of Temperate Origin
Inula racemosa is an endangered medicinal plant. It is commonly known as Pushkarmool, Pushkar and Manu. The great sage Charaka has characterized it as Hikka magrahana (stops hiccups) and Savasahara (helpful in asthma). Also, he has cited it as the best medicament for pleurisy along with cough and asthma (http://enwikipedia.org/wiki/charaka-samhita). Due to the fragile nature of its habitat and exploitation due to its commercial medicinal properties, the species are facing the onslaught of indiscriminate over-exploitation. So far, this plant has not got the required attention from researchers, hence, except for a few efforts, not much work has been done for its cultivation and conservation. Plant tissue culture offers an attractive and quick method for its multiplication and further conservation. In the present investigation, effective procedures for micropropagation and in vitro conservation by vitrification were developed. In vitro propagation using aseptically grown seedlings and in vitro conservation via vitrification were standardized. The in vitro conserved material could be retrieved and multiplied normally on MS (Murashige and Skoog, 1962) medium fortified with 1.00 mg l-1BA (benzyl adenine) which has been recorded as the best performing medium for in vitro shoot multiplication. The conserved shoots showed normal in vitro propagation and after retrieval from vitrification, platelets were hardened and successfully established in the experimental fields under Nauni (Solan, HP) conditions at an elevation of around 1275 meters above mean sea level
