Entangled three-particle states in magnetic field: Periodic correlations and density matrices

    No full text
International audienceWe present a novel study of the time evolutions of entangled states of three spin-1/2 particles in the presence of a constant external magnetic field, which causes the individual spins to precess and leads to remarkable periodicities in the correlations and density matrices. The emerging patterns of periodicity are studied explicitly for different entangled states and in detail for a particular initial configuration of the velocities. Contributions to precession of anomalous magnetic moments are analysed and general results are also obtained. We then introduce an electric field orthogonal to the magnetic field, linking to the preceding case via a suitable Lorentz transformation, and obtain the corresponding Wigner rotations of the spin states. Finally, we point out for the first time that the entangled states corresponding to well-known ones in the study of 3-particle entanglements, may be classified systematically using a particular coupling of three angular momenta

Insights into Responses to Extreme Environmental Conditions in Humans from Studies on Saccharomyces cerevisiae

The versatility of the yeast experimental model has aided in innumerable ways in the understanding of fundamental cellular functions and has also contributed towards the elucidation of molecular mechanisms underlying several pathological conditions in humans. Genome-wide expression, functional, localization and interaction studies on the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae exposed to various stressors have made profound contributions towards the understanding of stress response pathways. Analysis of gene expression data from S. cerevisiae cells indicate that the expression of a common set of genes is altered upon exposure to all the stress conditions examined. This common response to multiple stressors is known as the Environmental stress response. Knowledge gained from studies on the yeast model has now become helpful in understanding stress response pathways and associated disease conditions in humans. Cross-species microarray experiments and analysis of data with ever improving computational methods has led to a better comparison of gene expression data between diverse organisms that include yeast and humans

    Kinetic percolation

Citation: Heinson, W. R., Chakrabarti, A., & Sorensen, C. M. (2017). Kinetic percolation. Physical Review E, 95(5), 6. doi:10.1103/PhysRevE.95.052109We demonstrate that kinetic aggregation forms superaggregates that have structures identical to static percolation aggregates, and these superaggregates appear as a separate phase in the size distribution. Diffusion limited cluster-cluster aggregation (DLCA) simulations were performed to yield fractal aggregates with a fractal dimension of 1.8 and superaggregates with a fractal dimension of D = 2.5 composed of these DLCA supermonomers. When properly normalized to account for the DLCA fractal nature of their supermonomers, these superaggregates have the exact same monomer packing fraction, scaling law prefactor, and scaling law exponent (the fractal dimension) as percolation aggregates; these are necessary and sufficient conditions for same structure. The size distribution remains monomodal until these superaggregates form to alter the distribution. Thus the static percolation and the kinetic descriptions of gelation are now unified

Cosmic Acceleration and the notion of Alternative Vacuum in Nash Theory

We argue that Nash theory, a quadratic theory of Gravity, can describe a late-time cosmic acceleration without any exotic matter or cosmological constant. The observational viability of an exact cosmological solution of Nash theory is adjudged using a Markov chain Monte Carlo simulation and JLA+OHD+BAO data sets. Departures from standard {\Lambda}CDM cosmology are noted and analyzed. We prove that the Nash vacuum dynamics is equivalent to the dynamics of an Einstein vacuum plus a self-interacting Higgs scalar field, only if a mild evolution of the Higgs Vacuum Expectation Value is allowed. This leads to variations in the mass scales of fundamental particles and the fine structure constant. The variations are found to fit nicely with the analysis of molecular absorption spectra from a series of Quasars.Comment: 10 pages, 3 tables, 8 figures, comments and suggestions are welcom

    Aerosol gels

An improved process for the production of ultralow density, high specific surface area gel products is provided which comprises providing, in an enclosed chamber, a mixture made up of small particles of material suspended in gas; the particles are then caused to aggregate in the chamber to form ramified fractal aggregate gels. The particles should have a radius (a) of up to about 50 nm and the aerosol should have a volume fraction (f.sub.v) of at least 10.sup.-4. In preferred practice, the mixture is created by a spark-induced explosion of a precursor material (e.g., a hydrocarbon) and oxygen within the chamber. New compositions of matter are disclosed having densities below 3.0 mg/cc
