    Docencia en inglés en asignaturas de Metodología de las Ciencias del Comportamiento

    Este trabajo presenta la experiencia concreta de la docencia impartida en inglés en “Diseño y Análisis de Datos en Psicología II” en el curso 2010/11, asignatura de segundo curso del Grado en Psicología, del Área de Metodología de las Ciencias del Comportamiento. El objetivo fue realizar un análisis de dicha experiencia, destacando puntos fuertes y débiles, y aportando posibles propuestas de mejora para el próximo curso. Para ello, se recogió información a través de algunos indicadores, como el porcentaje de presentados a examen, las calificaciones obtenidas o el número de matriculados que siguieron el sistema de evaluación continua. Como punto fuerte, destaca el bajo número de matriculados en el grupo, lo que facilitó el seguimiento personalizado al alumnado. El punto débil más acusado fue la dificultad encontrada al traducir conceptos técnicos al inglés. Como propuesta de mejora, destaca la necesidad del profesorado de seguir formándose en el idioma

    Enhancing Quality in Training Programs: An Application in the Sport Area

    En el ámbito educativo, la gestión de la calidad suele llevarse a cabo mediante la aplicación de modelos específicos para este ámbito o bien mediante modelos estándares. Ambas alternativas tienen sus ventajas e inconvenientes; sin embargo, la mayoría de las organizaciones educativas prefieren implantar modelos estándares que suelen conllevar ciertos desajustes durante su implementación. Para hacer frente a esta situación, en este trabajo se propone un instrumento que, aplicado durante los procesos evaluativos de estas organizaciones, facilita la especificación y mejora de la participación, la utilidad y la transparencia, creando un contexto que favorezca la aplicación exitosa de los modelos estándares de gestión. Se describe su aplicación en la evaluación de necesidades llevada a cabo en el Departamento de Formación Continua de una organización andaluza dedicada al ámbito deportivo; se analizan los resultados mediante indicadores clave antes y después de aplicar el instrumento; y se valoran las ventajas obtenidas.In the field of education, specific or standard models of quality management are usually performed. Both alternatives have their advantages and disadvantages, but most educational organizations prefer to implement standard models which usually include some mismatches during their implementation. To address this situation, we propose an instrument that, when applied during the evaluation processes of these organizations, facilitates the specification and improvement of participation, usefulness and transparency. This creates a context that enhances the successful application of standard models. The instrument implementation is described in the needs assessment process of the Training Program Department in an Andalusian sports organization. Results are analyzed using key indicators before and after applying the instrument.     The development of a checklist to enhance methodological quality in intervention programs

    The methodological quality of primary studies is an important issue when performing meta-analyses or systematic reviews. Nevertheless, there are no clear criteria for how methodological quality should be analyzed. Controversies emerge when considering the various theoretical and empirical definitions, especially in relation to three interrelated problems: the lack of representativeness, utility, and feasibility. In this article, we (a) systematize and summarize the available literature about methodological quality in primary studies; (b) propose a specific, parsimonious, 12-items checklist to empirically define the methodological quality of primary studies based on a content validity study; and (c) present an inter-coder reliability study for the resulting 12-items. This paper provides a precise and rigorous description of the development of this checklist, highlighting the clearly specified criteria for the inclusion of items and a substantial inter-coder agreement in the different items. Rather than simply proposing another checklist, however, it then argues that the list constitutes an assessment tool with respect to the representativeness, utility, and feasibility of the most frequent methodological quality items in the literature, one that provides practitioners and researchers with clear criteria for choosing items that may be adequate to their needs. We propose individual methodological features as indicators of quality, arguing that these need to be taken into account when designing, implementing, or evaluating an intervention program. This enhances methodological quality of intervention programs and fosters the cumulative knowledge based on meta-analyses of these interventions.     Dinámica sociocultural de los microempresarios agrícolas en el cantón La Granadilla, municipio de La Palma, departamento de Chalatenango

    La investigación se llevó a cabo durante los años 2018-2020 en el cantón La Granadilla, municipio de Chalatenango. Por medio del método etnográfico, característico de la disciplina antropológica, la investigadora se aproximó a la localidad, a la vez que se hizo uso de herramientas cualitativas de recolección de datos empíricos para poder tener una visión más amplia del fenómeno a estudiar. La investigación da cuenta de la dinámica sociocultural de los empresarios agrícolas en la localidad mencionada, tomando como elemento de análisis a los grupos domésticos y su relación con el trabajo. Se elaboró una discusión teórico-metodológica sobre la problemática estudiada que pretende incorporarse desde la ruralidad del norte del país a la discusión sobre las relaciones que establece el modelo de producción capitalista y su premiación en el campo, dicha discusión de larga data es relevante, debido a lo dinámico y cambiante de las relaciones sociales y el capital

    Las redes tecnológicas de comunicación permiten hoy intercambiar información, debatir, planificar, tomar decisiones de manera mancomunada, pasar a la acción, coordinar esfuerzos, ilusiones, perspectivas y resultados. Actualmente, las discusiones académicas, los negocios, las relaciones internacionales, las actividades humanas más cotidianas están centradas en una revolución por demás significativa, porque tiene como base a las Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación, innovaciones que favorecen enormemente el flujo de información. Los medios de comunicación social, y los profesionales de la comunicación, no pueden hacerse a un lado cuando el mundo en su conjunto se abre a experimentar un fenómeno que con Internet a la cabeza recibe diversos nombres y que, como sea que se denomine, trae consigo cambios.     Development of a work climate scale in emergency health services

    An adequate work climate fosters productivity in organizations and increases employee satisfaction. Workers in emergency health services (EHS) have an extremely high degree of responsibility and consequent stress. Therefore, it is essential to foster a good work climate in this context. Despite this, scales with a full study of their psychometric properties (i.e., validity evidence based on test content, internal structure and relations to other variables, and reliability) are not available to measure work climate in EHS specifically. For this reason, our objective was to develop a scale tomeasure the quality of work climates in EHS.We carried out three studies. In Study 1, we used a mixed-method approach to identify the latent conceptual structure of the construct work climate. Thus, we integrated the results found in (a) a previous study, where a content analysis of seven in-depth interviews obtained from EHS professionals in two hospitals in Gibraltar Countryside County was carried out; and (b) the factor analysis of the responses given by 113 EHS professionals from these same centers to 18 items that measured the work climate in health organizations. As a result, we obtained 56 items grouped into four factors (work satisfaction, productivity/achievement of aims, interpersonal relationships, and performance at work). In Study 2, we presented validity evidence based on test content through experts’ judgment. Fourteen experts from the methodology and health fields evaluated the representativeness, utility, and feasibility of each of the 56 items with respect to their factor (theoretical dimension). Forty items met the inclusion criterion, which was to obtain an Osterlind index value greater than or equal to 0.5 in the three aspects assessed. In Study 3, 201 EHS professionals from the same centers completed the resulting 40-item scale. This new instrument produced validity evidence based on the internal structure in a second-order factormodel with four components (RMSEA=0.079, GFI = 0.97, AGFI = 0.97, CFI = 0.97; NFI = 0.95, and NNFI = 0.97); absence of differential Item Functioning (DIF) in 80% of the items; reliability (a = 0.96); and validity evidence based on relations to other variables, specifically the test-criterion relationship (r = 0.680).     Couples extrinsic emotion regulation questionnaire: Psychometric validation in a Chilean population

    The way couples regulate their emotions affects the quality of their relationship. Despite this, no evidence-based scales of validity and reliability can measure the intention to regulate emotions in the romantic dyad. In order to address this gap, we developed the Couples Extrinsic Emotion Regulation (CEER) questionnaire. First, we adapted the “Others” subscale from the Emotion Regulation of Others and Self questionnaire (EROS) for any close relationship to measure the intention to regulate emotions in couples; second, the psychometric properties of the CEER questionnaire were studied. For the content validity assessment, 23 experts (47.8% of whom worked in social and health psychology and the psychology of emotions, 17.4% in couples’ therapy, and 34.8% in social science methodologies) participated. A total of 528 Chileans completed the online CEER questionnaire, the relationship satisfaction scale (RAS) and dyadic adjustment scale (DAS): 27.8% were male, age M = 38.7, SD = 10.05, and time of the relationships M = 11.27, SD = 9.82. The content-based validity study made it possible to determine which items to include in the final version. Two unrelated first-order factors structure of the original test fit (RMSEA = .052, GFI = .97, AGFI = .95; CFI = .99; NFI = .98; and NNFI = .98). The CEER+ and CEER- factors presented adequate internal consistency (α = .79; ω = .80 and α = .85; ω = .85, respectively). The discrimination index of the factors were excellent (CEER+ = .55 and CEER- = .63). Validity evidence based on the relations to other variables showed a direct positive relation between CEER+, RAS and overall DAS, as well as their factors; and a negative relation between CEER-, RAS overall DAS, as well as their factors. The use of this instrument is recommended for the identification of Chilean couples where at least one of the partners has a less favorable opinion of their relationship, providing relevant data for couple’s therapy

    Guidelines for reporting evaluations based on observational methodology

    Background: Observational methodology is one of the most suitable research designs for evaluating fidelity of implementation, especially in complex interventions. However, the conduct and reporting of observational studies is hampered by the absence of specific guidelines, such as those that exist for other evaluation designs. This lack of specific guidance poses a threat to the quality and transparency of these studies and also constitutes a considerable publication hurdle. The aim of this study thus was to draw up a set of proposed guidelines for reporting evaluations based on observational methodology. Method: The guidelines were developed by triangulating three sources of information: observational studies performed in different fields by experts in observational methodology, reporting guidelines for general studies and studies with similar designs to observational studies, and proposals fro experts in observational methodology at scientific meetings. Results: We produced a list of guidelines grouped into three domains: intervention and expected outcomes, methods, and results.
