Q. orocantabrica (Fagaceae) has been found in 16 localities of the Northern Iberian System (La Rioja: 6, Soria: 4, Burgos: 4, Zaragoza: 2) and, additionally, 2 in Álava and 2 in Navarra. This species ranges from 420 to 1870 m, whereas it is more characteristic of certain oak groves that occur over the beech forests.
