I sacrifici per gli schiavi nell'economico dello pseudo Aristotele tra tempo libero e dipendenza sacra
El autor del Económico, texto no aristotélico, aunque de la escuela aristotélica y estrechamente conectado con la Política y la Ética a Nicómaco de Aristóteles, subraya en 1, V, 1 344b 7-21 la oportunidad de "establecer sacrificios y diversiones más para los esclavos que para los libres, dado que estos últimos tienen, a diferencia de los primeros, mayores ocasiones, en vista de lo cual tales cosas han sido instituidas." Se intentará una interpretación que no sólo pondrá en evidencia la función del sacrificio en el ámbito doméstico como forma específica de enseñanza y recreación servil, sino también inferirá de la organización de los sacrificios para los esclavos una forma de integración en el ámbito del oikos que utiliza criterios de valores y, por consiguiente, términos prepolíticos. 12.2-GHz methanol maser MMB follow-up catalogue - II. Longitude range 186 to 330 degrees
We present the second portion of a catalogue of 12.2-GHz methanol masers
detected towards 6.7-GHz methanol masers observed in the unbiased Methanol
Multibeam (MMB) Survey. Using the Parkes radio telescope we have targeted all
207 6.7-GHz methanol masers in the longitude range 186 to 330 degrees for
12.2-GHz counterparts. We report the detection of 83 12.2-GHz methanol masers,
and one additional source which we suspect is thermal emission, equating to a
detection rate of 40 per cent. Of the 83 maser detections, 39 are reported here
for the first time. We discuss source properties, including variability and
highlight a number of unusual sources. We present a list of 45 candidates that
are likely to harbor methanol masers in the 107.0-GHz transition.Comment: Accepted MNRAS 19 July 201
12.2-GHz methanol maser MMB follow-up catalogue - I. Longitude range 330 to 10 degrees
We present a catalogue of 12.2-GHz methanol masers detected towards 6.7-GHz
methanol masers observed in the unbiased Methanol Multibeam (MMB) survey in the
longitude range 330\circ (through 360\circ) to 10\circ. This is the first
portion of the catalogue which, when complete, will encompass all of the MMB
detections. We report the detection of 184 12.2-GHz sources towards 400 6.7-GHz
methanol maser targets, equating to a detection rate of 46 per cent. Of the 184
12.2-GHz detections, 117 are reported here for the first time. We draw
attention to a number of 'special' sources, particularly those with emission at
12.2-GHz stronger than their 6.7-GHz counterpart and conclude that these
unusual sources are not associated with a specific evolutionary stage.Comment: accepted to MNRAS 21 Dec 201
Statistical properties of 12.2 GHz methanol masers associated with a complete sample of 6.7 GHz methanol masers
We present definitive detection statistics for 12.2 GHz methanol masers
towards a complete sample of 6.7 GHz methanol masers detected in the Methanol
Multibeam survey south of declination -20 degrees. In total, we detect 250 12.2
GHz methanol masers towards 580 6.7 GHz methanol masers. This equates to a
detection rate of 43.1%, which is lower than that of previous significant
searches of comparable sensitivity. Both the velocity ranges and the flux
densities of the target 6.7 GHz sources surpass that of their 12.2 GHz
companion in almost all cases. 80 % of the detected 12.2 GHz methanol maser
peaks are coincident in velocity with the 6.7 GHz maser peak. Our data support
an evolutionary scenario whereby the 12.2 GHz sources are associated with a
somewhat later evolutionary stage than the 6.7 GHz sources devoid of this
transition. Furthermore, we find that the 6.7 GHz and 12.2 GHz methanol sources
increase in luminosity as they evolve. In addition to this, evidence for an
increase in velocity range with evolution is presented. This implies that it is
not only the luminosity, but also the volume of gas conducive to the different
maser transitions, that increases as the sources evolve. Comparison with
GLIMPSE mid-infrared sources has revealed a coincidence rate between the
locations of the 6.7 GHz methanol masers and GLIMPSE point sources similar to
that achieved in previous studies. Overall, the properties of the GLIMPSE
sources with and without 12.2 GHz counterparts are similar. There is a higher
12.2 GHz detection rate towards those 6.7 GHz methanol masers that are

Exoscope and Supermicrosurgery: Pros and Cons of 3D Innovation in Lymphatic Surgery
Background: The surgical treatment of lymphedema has seen advancements in recent years, with supramicrosurgical lymphaticovenular anastomosis (sLVA) gaining global acceptance. The integration of 3D exoscopes into microsurgery offers potential ergonomic and educational benefits. However, systematic evaluation of their efficacy in sLVA remains limited. Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted comparing the use of 3D exoscopes to conventional operating microscopes (OM) in sLVA surgeries. Patient data from January 2019 to January 2024 were reviewed, with demographic, clinical, and surgical outcome variables analyzed. Ergonomic assessments were performed using Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) and Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA), while surgeon satisfaction was evaluated through the Microsurgical Intraoperative Satisfaction and Comfort questionnaire (MISCq). Results: An analysis of 25 patients (OM group: n = 14; exoscope group: n = 11) revealed no significant differences in age, sex, etiology, or surgical site between the two groups. Surgical time, number of incisions, and number of anastomoses showed nonsignificant variations between the OM and exoscope groups. Ergonomic assessments indicated potential benefits with exoscope use, particularly for the assistant surgeon. Survey results demonstrated comparable levels of surgeon satisfaction with both instruments, with no significant differences in image quality, contrast, illumination, magnification, visual field, ergonomic maintenance, or stereoscopic orientation. Conclusions: The study suggests that 3D exoscopes are a valuable tool for sLVA supermicrosurgery, offering comparable outcomes to traditional microscopes with potential ergonomic advantages. Their integration into microsurgical practice may contribute to improved surgical comfort and team performance. Further research is warranted to confirm these findings and explore additional factors such as cost-effectiveness and long-term patient outcomes

New Classification System and Defect-Oriented Algorithm for Functional Soft-Palate Reconstruction with Buccinator Myomucosal Flaps
Background/Objectives: Currently, there is a lack of a comprehensive classification system for soft-palate defects that provides synthetic information to guide functional reconstructive treatment. Our awareness, shaped by extensive experience, of the superiority of myomucosal flaps to fasciocutaneous flaps in functional palate reconstruction has driven us to introduce a new defect-based classification system and propose a new algorithm for reconstructing soft-palate defects using buccinator myomucosal flaps. Methods: Soft-palate defects were classified into five classes. A reconstruction algorithm employing buccinator myomucosal flaps-including axial, island, and tunnelized flaps along with their variants as described in previous studies-was utilized. Clinical records, including tumor stage, location, defect size, and details of the myomucosal flap used, were documented. Postoperative speech intelligibility, swallowing, and quality of life (QoL) were evaluated. Donor-site morbidity and complications were also assessed. Spearman's rank correlation was employed to assess relationships between clinical parameters and functional outcomes. Results: Twenty-two patients who had undergone soft-palate resection and subsequent reconstruction were reviewed. Favorable recovery of swallowing and speech was reported in all cases, with a median deglutition score of 6.04 +/- 0.85 and no severe velopharyngeal insufficiency observed (speech score: 0.36 +/- 0.58). Quality of life assessments indicated satisfactory recovery across physical, social, emotional, and functional parameters. Donor-site morbidity was low (average score: 8.3), with only minor complications observed. Tumor stage showed a significant correlation with speech score (r = 0.44, p = 0.04). Conclusions: The proposed classification introduces a comprehensive, simple, and user-friendly categorization of soft-palate defects, accompanied by a myomucosal reconstructive algorithm designed to guide surgeons through the reconstructive process, aiming to provide optimal functional reconstruction. The study's small sample size and monocentric design may have limited the detection of meaningful correlations, highlighting the need for larger, multicentric studies with objective methods to validate findings
