Double beta decay of 100Mo^{100}Mo: the deformed limit

The double beta decay of 100Mo^{100}Mo to the ground state and excited states of 100Ru^{100}Ru is analysed in the context of the pseudo SU(3) scheme. The results of this deformed limit are compared with the vibrational one based on the QRPA formalism. Consistency between the deformed limit and the experimental information is found for various ÎČÎČ\beta\beta transitions, although, in this approximation some energies and B(E2) intensities cannot reproduced.Comment: 16 pages, revtex, no figures. The aim of this project was to analyze the school coexistence practices of the teachers and head teacher from ?Instituci?n Educativa Alto del Rompe? at municipality of Falan, Tolima; and to establish how they relate to the school?s rulebook and to the normative guides of the MEN (Ministry of National Education), specifically guide 49. A qualitative approach with a descriptive reach was employed using a case study methodological design. In order to analyze teachers? practices regarding school coexistence the classification of pedagogical approaches proposed by Chaux (2012) was employed (Authoritative, Permissive, Negligent, Assertive). Taking into account such classification, surveys for students, teachers, head teacher, and parents, were designed and applied. Similarly, a focus group session was carried out with teachers. It was concluded that teachers make evident features of the different pedagogical approaches depending on the situation they face. Active participation of each of the members of the community in the collective construction of agreements for school coexistence is recommended. It is necessary to establish spaces for reflection about the different pedagogical approaches that appear in different situations and also to promote practices related to the assertive approach. In the present article of reflection, will be approached the topic of the hardening of the laws towards the subject procedural in the punitive penal system, on the base of the increase of the penalties and new criminal conducts, which has been denominated like punitive populism; this phenomenon is supported by sentencing judgments given by the mass media, who legitimize media solutions to existing social problems whose aim is to calm the clamor for security demanded by the population, spreading the most scandalous court cases; a situation that has created a false expectation of what is justice, and affecting through the preventive detention of freedom, multiple fundamental rights such as the good name, honor and presumption of innocence of the defendant, to fall in anticipated judgments, without the prevalence of constitutional principles, social and criminal; guarantors of the accusatory system and welcomed by a Social and Democratic State of Law. This paper describes the socioeconomic and biophysical characteristics of the dual purpose cattle farms in the Central Pacific area of Costa Rica. Thirty-three farms were selected for the study based on data base of the GEF Silvopastoral Project. A trend of changing extensive grazing systems toward intensification of feeding systems, based on supplemental feeding sources, mainly during the dry season. On the other hand, some livestock farmers are beginning to change from using exogenous feeding sources to endogenous sources, such as silvopastoral systems. Two groups of farms were identified using cluster analysis: 1) eco-friendly systems (SEA); which have incorporated endogenous resources in their feeding systems and silvopastoral systems, and 2) conventional systems which can be subdivided into two subgroups: Conventional Intensive System (SIC) and Conventional Extensive Systems (SET)

Economic Properties of Recognized Intangibles under Domestic Accounting Standards: Evidence from European Capital Markets

This study investigates whether European domestic GAAPs used for intangibles recognition prior to the IFRS adoption exhibit major differences while examining the relationship between a firm’s economic (financial, operating and competitive) performance and its recognized intangible investment (RII). Using a five-European-country sample over the pre-IFRS compliance period 1993-2004, we first provide evidence that, independently of the intangibles accounting recognition practices, investors adopt a short-term perspective or “myopic view” while constructing their portfolios by penalizing firms with high RII. Secondly, contrary to the resource-based view, our results suggest that RII do not underpin under any accounting treatment better competitive position inside a specific industry. Finally, our findings clearly support the idea that EU continental accounting standards, while opposed to Anglo-Saxon settings, ease the relationship existing between RII and firm operating performance. This last result would suggest that IFRS adoption could lead to disconnect operating margins from RII and subsequently challenge the widespread claim that IFRS help produce higher-quality reporting about a firm’s operating activities

Classical mappings of the symplectic model and their application to the theory of large-amplitude collective motion

We study the algebra Sp(n,R) of the symplectic model, in particular for the cases n=1,2,3, in a new way. Starting from the Poisson-bracket realization we derive a set of partial differential equations for the generators as functions of classical canonical variables. We obtain a solution to these equations that represents the classical limit of a boson mapping of the algebra. The relationship to the collective dynamics is formulated as a theorem that associates the mapping with an exact solution of the time-dependent Hartree approximation. This solution determines a decoupled classical symplectic manifold, thus satisfying the criteria that define an exactly solvable model in the theory of large amplitude collective motion. The models thus obtained also provide a test of methods for constructing an approximately decoupled manifold in fully realistic cases. We show that an algorithm developed in one of our earlier works reproduces the main results of the theorem.Comment: 23 pages, LaTeX using REVTeX 3.

Splice variant rs72613567 prevents worst histologic outcomes in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease

Hydroxysteroid 17-ÎČ dehydrogenase 13 (HSD17B13) is a lipid droplet-associated protein; its gene-encoding variants affect the chronic liver diseases, including nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). To estimate the effect of rs72613567, a splice variant with an adenine insertion (A-INS), on NAFLD susceptibility and severity, we performed a case-control study with 609 individuals. We investigated the effect of carrying the A-INS allele in 356 patients with biopsy-proven disease and explored the relationship between rs72613567 genotypes and the hepatic transcriptome. The A-INS allele protected against NAFLD [odds ratio (OR) per adenine allele = 0.667; 95% CI, 0.486−0.916; P = 0.012]; this effect was nonsignificant when logistic regression analysis included BMI. The A-INS allele protected against nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) (OR = 0.612; 95% CI, 0.388−0.964; P = 0.033), ballooning degeneration (OR = 0.474; 95% CI, 0.267−0.842; P = 0.01), lobular inflammation (OR = 0.475; 95% CI, 0.275−0.821; P = 0.007), and fibrosis (OR = 0.590; 95% CI, 0.361−0.965; P = 0.035). In patients carrying A-INS, HSD17B13 levels decreased proportionally to allele dosage. Whole-transcriptome genotype profiling showed overrepresented immune response-related pathways. Thus, the rs72613567 A-INS allele reduces the risk of NASH and progressive liver damage and may become a therapeutic target.Fil: Pirola, Carlos JosĂ©.
