- Field of study
The production of J/Ï mesons in proton-proton collisions at âS = 7 TeV is studied with the LHCb detector at the LHC. The differential cross-section for prompt J/Ï production is measured as a function of the J/Ï transverse momentum pT and rapidity y in the fiducial region pT â [0; 14] GeV/c and y â [2.0; 4.5]. The differential cross-section and fraction of J/Ï from b-hadron decays are also measured in the same pT and y ranges. The analysis is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.2 pb&-1. The measured cross-sections integrated over the fiducial region are 10.52 ± 0.04 ± 1.40+1.64 &-2.20 ÎŒb for prompt J/Ï production and 1.14 ± 0.01 ± 0.16 ÎŒb for J/Ï from b-hadron decays, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The prompt J/Ï production cross-section is obtained assuming no J/Ï polarisation and the third error indicates the acceptance uncertainty due to this assumption

A search for the decays Bs-->mumu and Bd-->mumu is performed with about 37 pb^{-1} of pp collisions at sqrt{s} = 7 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. The observed numbers of events are consistent with the background expectations. The resulting upper limits on the branching ratios are BR(Bs-->mumu) < 5.6 x 10^{-8} and BR(Bd-->mumu) <1.5 x 10^{-8} at 95% confidence level

- Field of study
Using data collected with the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, the hadronic decay Bs -> J/psi f0(980) is observed. This CP eigenstate mode could be used to measure mixing-induced CP violation in the B_s system. Using a fit to the pi+ pi- mass spectrum with interfering resonances gives R_{f0/phi} = [Gamma(Bs -> J/psi f0, f0 -> pi+ pi-)]/[Gamma(Bs -> J/psi phi, phi -> K+K-)] = 0.252^{+0.046+0.027}_{-0.032-0.033}, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively

The relative abundance of the three decay modes BdââDâK+, BdââDâÏ+ and BsââDsââÏ+ produced in 7 TeV pp collisions at the LHC is determined from data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35 pbâ1. The branching fraction of BdââDâK+ is found to be B(BdââDâK+)=(2.01±0.18stat±0.14syst)Ă10â4. The ratio of fragmentation fractions \fsfdt is determined through the relative abundance of BsââDsââÏ+ to BdââDâK+ and BdââDâÏ+, leading to fsâ/fdâ=0.253±0.017±0.017±0.020, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and theoretical respectively

Branching fractions of the decays HbââHcâÏâÏ+Ïâ relative to HbââHcâÏâ are presented, where Hbâ (Hcâ) represents B^0-bar(D+), Bâ (D0), B_s^0-bar (Ds+â) and Îb0â (Îc+â). The measurements are performed with the LHCb detector using 35pbâ1 of data collected at sâ=7 TeV. The ratios of branching fractions are measured to be B(B^0-bar -> D^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-)/ B(B^0-bar -> D^+\pi^-) = 2.38\pm0.11\pm0.21 B(B^- -> D^0\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-) / B(B^- -> D^0\pi^-) = 1.27\pm0.06\pm0.11 B(B_s^0-bar -> D_s^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-) / B(B_s^0-bar -> D_s^+\pi^-) = 2.01\pm0.37\pm0.20 B(\Lambda_b^0->\Lambda_c^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-) / B(\Lambda_b^0 -> \Lambda_c^+\pi^-) = 1.43\pm0.16\pm0.13. We also report measurements of partial decay rates of these decays to excited charm hadrons. These results are of comparable or higher precision than existing measurements
