    MEDIA SHARING REQUEST AND GRANT MECHANISM

    Get PDF
    A system and application is disclosed that enables photo sharing among a group of users that match specified time, location or other characteristics. The system requires a server to process requests received from various users and mediates between requestors and request recipients. The system allows the requestor to select the request recipient from a preset list, while the application allows the request recipient to specify when or under what condition the photos/media may be released/shared. The request recipient then decides whether to grant access to the set of photos or to selected photos from the set or deny access. Upon grant of access, the photos can be shared effortlessly. This application provides a frictionless and quick technique for sharing photos of interest

    System And Method Of Sharing Media Content With A Nearby Device

    Get PDF
    A system and method are disclosed that enable sharing media content such as an e-book or a video with a nearby device. The user may buy media content such as an e-book, online and access the content during a journey, for example. The user attempts to share the content with another recipient device, as it may be difficult to view the media content with another on the user’s device. The system then filters possible recipient devices based on a number of criteria such as distance, availability of a compatible app, app settings, size of the user device etc. and displays valid recipients to the user. The user then shares the content with selected valid recipients. The system could operate via a network or through peer connectivity. The disclosed method enables sharing media content with others without sharing account information and eliminates the disadvantage of not having a physical book to share

    Disabling facial unlocking using facial expression

    Get PDF
    The techniques of this disclosure temporarily disable biometric recognition in a device to prevent unlocking of the device. The user registers one or more specific facial expressions as do-not-unlock expressions. If the facial recognition tool recognizes a registered do-not-unlock facial expression, then unlocking of the device is disabled until preconfigured conditions are met. The user can also register context, e.g., location, time, environmental parameters, etc., that makes the device ineligible for the biometric unlock

    Charge order in the incommensurate compounds Sr_14−xCa_xCu_24O_41Sr\_{14-x}Ca\_xCu\_{24}O\_{41}

    The present paper studies, using ab-initio calculations, the influence of the incommensurate structural modulations on the low energy physics of the Sr_14−xCa_xCu_24O_41Sr\_{14-x}Ca\_xCu\_{24}O\_{41} oxides. On-site, nearest-neighbor and next-nearest-neighbor effective parameters were computed within a t−J+Vt-J+V model based on the copper magnetic orbitals. The structural modulations appear to be the key degree of freedom, responsible for the low energy properties such as the electron localization, the formation of dimers in the x=0x=0 compound or the anti-ferromagnetic order in the x=13.6x=13.6 compound

    The ethical, legal and social implications of using artificial intelligence systems in breast cancer care

    Get PDF
    Breast cancer care is a leading area for development of artificial intelligence (AI), with applications including screening and diagnosis, risk calculation, prognostication and clinical decision-support, management planning, and precision medicine. We review the ethical, legal and social implications of these developments. We consider the values encoded in algorithms, the need to evaluate outcomes, and issues of bias and transferability, data ownership, confidentiality and consent, and legal, moral and professional responsibility. We consider potential effects for patients, including on trust in healthcare, and provide some social science explanations for the apparent rush to implement AI solutions. We conclude by anticipating future directions for AI in breast cancer care. Stakeholders in healthcare AI should acknowledge that their enterprise is an ethical, legal and social challenge, not just a technical challenge. Taking these challenges seriously will require broad engagement, imposition of conditions on implementation, and pre-emptive systems of oversight to ensure that development does not run ahead of evaluation and deliberation. Once artificial intelligence becomes institutionalised, it may be difficult to reverse: a proactive role for government, regulators and professional groups will help ensure introduction in robust research contexts, and the development of a sound evidence base regarding real-world effectiveness. Detailed public discussion is required to consider what kind of AI is acceptable rather than simply accepting what is offered, thus optimising outcomes for health systems, professionals, society and those receiving care

    « Mormonisme, États et Sociétés » - Colloque international

    En général, les mots « mormons » ou « mormonisme » déclenchent chez le Français peu ou pas du tout informé une succession de pensées et d’associations plus ou moins hasardeuses. Pour lui, ces mots évoquent « prosélytisme outrancier », « secte dont les fidèles vivent en vase clos quelque part dans l’Ouest américain, préférant un mode de vie rétrograde aux réalités du XXIe siècle » ; et, la série Big Love aidant, « harems où des hommes à la libido hyperactive satisfont leurs pulsions sexuelles ..

    Brief intervention manual for personality disorders

    Get PDF
    This manual is designed to help services intervene early and better support young people and adults with personality disorders. It is particularly focused on clients in crisis, who have complex needs, by providing practical therapeutic techniques in the prevention and treatment of high-risk challenging behaviours. It describes a four session brief intervention that can act as the first step in a treatment journey for people with this disorder
