    La investigación tuvo como propósito principal determinar la eficacia del interfaz Sugar de las XO en el aprendizaje de la comprensión de textos en los niños del 5° grado de primaria la I.E. Ciro Alegría Carabayllo 2013 El diseño de la investigación fue experimental y longitudinal con pre y post prueba. La población de estudio estuvo conformada por los estudiantes de quinto grado y la muestra quedó establecida en 60 estudiantes de ambos sexos, con una edad promedio de 10 años. La técnica de muestreo fue no probabilístico e intencional; es decir, está dada dado por el interés particular de quien selecciona la muestra debido a la limitada accesibilidad de toda la muestra por parte de la institución. Los instrumentos aplicados fueron los cuestionarios, que evaluaron la compresión de textos. Los resultados permitieron demostrar la hipótesis principal planteada, es decir, los estudiantes del quinto grado de primaria de la Institución Educativa Ciro Alegría obtuvieron mejores resultados luego de la aplicación de la herramienta interactiva del Sugar de las laptop XO

    On Doppler tracking in cosmological spacetimes

    We give a rigorous derivation of the general-relativistic formula for the two-way Doppler tracking of a spacecraft in Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker and in McVittie spacetimes. The leading order corrections of the so-determined acceleration to the Newtonian acceleration are due to special-relativistic effects and cosmological expansion.     Tracing out the Northern Tidal Stream of the Sagittarius Dwarf Spheoridal Galaxy

    The main aim of this paper is to report two new detections of tidal debris in the northern stream of the Sagittarius dwarf galaxy located at 45 arcdeg and 55 arcdeg from the center of galaxy. Our observational approach is based on deep color-magnitude diagrams, that provides accurate distances, surface brightness and the properties of stellar population of the studied region of this tidal stream. The derived distances for these tidal debris wraps are 45 kpc and 54 kpc respectively.We also confirm these detections with numerical simulations of the Sagittarius dwarf plus the Milky Way. The model reproduces the present position and velocity of the Sagittarius main body and presents a long tidal stream formed by tidal interaction with the Milky Way potential. This model is also in good agreement with the available observations of the Sagittarius tidal stream. We also present a method for estimating the shape of the Milky Way halo potential using numerical simulations. From our simulations we obtain an oblateness of the Milky Way dark halo potential of 0.85, using the current database of distances and radial velocities of the Sagittarius tidal stream. The color-magnitude diagram of the apocenter of Sagittarius shows that this region of the stream shares the complex star formation history observed in the main body of the galaxy. We present the first evidence for a gradient in the stellar population along the stream, possibly correlated with its different pericenter passages.     The nurse’s humanistic functioning in relation to the pain of the child patient with burns

    El artículo tiene como objetivo reflejar sobre la actuación humanística de la enfermera en la intervención del dolor nociceptivo somático de los niños. Fue realizado un estudio cualitativo descriptivo direccionado y discutido de acuerdo con la fenomenología de Husserl, Se consideraron los aspectos ético-legales, fueron entrevistadas diez enfermeras expertas en área de quemados; los datos relevantes fueron seleccionados por la técnica colorimétrica, para después efectuar un análisis de contenido. Los resultados revelaron que la enfermera es una profesional que actúa afectivamente en situaciones de angustia, tristeza, protegiendo de manera solidaria al paciente infantil, también que las terapias no farmacológicas como la ludoterapia, risoterapia, musicoterapia, ejercicios de relajación, respiración y apoyo psicológico coadyuvan en el combate del dolor. Al concluir se reflejó que la intervención de la enfermera es altamente humanística, y se revela que el dolor requiere ser tratado por profesionales con amplia sensibilidad para brindar cuidado altamente humano.This article aims to reflect on the humanistic functioning of the nurse in the interventions with nociceptive, somatic pain in children. To this end a qualitative descriptive study was undertaken, directed and discussed in accordance with Husserlian phenomenology. Ethical-legal aspects were taken into consideration, interviews being held with 10 nurses who are specialists in the area of burns. The relevant data were selected through the colorimetric technique, so as to later undertake content analysis. The results revealed the nurse to be a professional who acts affectively in situations of distress and sadness, protecting the child patient empathetically. In addition, it is possible to perceive that non-pharmacological therapies, such as play therapy, laughter therapy, music therapy, relaxation exercises, breathing exercises, and psychological support are coadjuvant in combating pain. At the end of the study, it is reflected that the nurse’s intervention is highly humanistic, and it is shown that pain must be treated by professionals with great sensitivity, so as to promote highly humane car

    El objetivo del estudio fue revelar la percepción de la enfermera frente al dolor nociceptivo del paciente infantil que sufre quemaduras. Desarrollado en un hospital pediátrico del Distrito Federal, México. Investigación cualitativa, de tipo descriptivo. Para la recolección se aplicó una guía de entrevista semiestructurada a diez enfermeras del área de quemados, siendo los datos analizados mediante análisis de contenido. Como resultados se obtuvieron tres categorías. Se utilizó como referencial teórico la fenomenología. Los resultados muestran las vivencias de las enfermeras, la expresión, del mecanismos de conducta auto-defensiva, en la percepción de sus intervenciones, se destaca la carga humanística que tienen las emociones, pues el hecho de manifestarlas implica un gasto extra de fuerza y energía, resultando que a mayor intensidad de la emoción a la que se enfrentan, más es el trabajo emocional que realizan.     Remnants of Sagittarius Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy around the young globular cluster Palomar 12

    Photometry of a large field around the young globular cluster Palomar 12 has revealed the main-sequence of a low surface-brightness stellar system. This main-sequence is indicative of a stellar population that varies significantly in metallicity and/or age, but in the mean is more metal poor than Pal 12. Under different assumptions for the properties of this population, we find distances from the Sun in the range 17-24 kpc, which encompasses the distance to Pal 12, 19.0±0.919.0\pm0.9 kpc. The stellar system is also detected in a field 2\arcdeg North of Pal 12, which indicates it has a minimum diameter of 0.9\sim0.9 kpc. The orbit of Pal 12 (Dinescu et al. 2000), the color-magnitude diagram of the stellar system, their positions on the sky, and their distances suggest that they are debris from the tidal disruption of the Sgr dSph galaxy.     Platelets promote macrophage polarization toward pro-inflammatory phenotype and increase survival of septic mice

    We investigated the contribution of human platelets to macrophage effector properties in the presence of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), as well as the beneficial effects and time frame for platelet transfusion in septic animals. Our results show that platelets sequester both pro-(TNF-α/IL-6) and anti-(IL-10) inflammatory cytokines released by monocytes. Low LPS concentrations (0.01 ng/mL) induced M2 macrophage polarization by decreasing CD64 and augmenting CD206 and CD163 expression; yet, the presence of platelets skewed monocytes toward type 1 macrophage (M1) phenotype in a cell-contact-dependent manner by the glycoprotein Ib (GPIb)-CD11b axis. Accordingly, platelet-licensed macrophages showed increased TNF-α levels, bacterial phagocytic activity, and a reduced healing capability. Platelet transfusion increased inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS)+ macrophages, improving bacterial clearance and survival rates in septic mice up to 6 h post-infection, an effect that was abolished by CD11b and GPIb blockade. Our results demonstrate that platelets orchestrate macrophage effector responses, improving the clinical outcome of sepsis in a narrow but relevant time frame.Fil: Carestia, Agostina.     Editorial: Viral evasion mechanisms of the host response

    An essential function of the host response is to protect the organism against invading pathogens. At present, a multiplicity of mechanisms has been described on how the host sense and response to virus infections. Viruses are intracellular pathogens. Both RNA and DNA viruses have evolved mechanisms to evade host detection and to blunt both the host innate and adaptive immune responses. Considering viruses as pathogens with a relatively fast evolutionary rate, particularly RNA viruses, the result of host-virus coevolution depends on the rapid recognition and response by the host as well as on the evasion mechanism by the virus as a continuous struggle for escape/spread and immunity/clearance of virus from the host. In this Special Research Topics issue on the recent advances in Viral Evasion Mechanisms of the Host Response, we compiled a total of twelve research and review articles. The special issue includes five Original Research Articles, five Review Articles, and two Mini Review Articles. Meanwhile five articles were dedicated to viral general mechanisms, seven were specifically focused on picornavirus, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), Dengue virus (DENV), herpes simplex virus (HSV), and Influenza virus (IAV). The family Picornaviridae includes some of the most important RNA viruses for human and veterinary diseases as poliovirus, rhinovirus, and foot-and-mouth-disease virus, which comprised pioneer studies on the structural aspects of viral components. In their minireview, Cifuente and Moratorio summarize genetic variation mechanisms used by picornaviruses on structural changes involved in binding receptor and capsid antibody evasion of enteroviruses to ensure adaptation, spread and survival.
