Organizadores Gráficos: los Mapas Mentales como herramienta para potenciar las habilidades de comprensión lectora

Reading comprehension in L2 is perhaps the skill whose requirements have changed most and most rapidly due to the demand of the information society. Readers not only need to interpret words and sentences in articles or books: sometimes they have to make a meaning out of disconnected pieces of information in pouring messages on websites, and social networks. The purpose of the present study is to explore the possibilities of mind-mapping techniques in order to foster the reading comprehension abilities in students of English as L2 by working under the assumption that the latter can be improved when apparently loose pieces of written information are connected by means of images and lines. The experiment in the project involved a total of 84 participants of two consecutive academic levels: first and second year of post-compulsory secondary education. Different sessions and two parallel procedures were scheduled in order to provide us with contrasting data that could be systematized numerically. Even though the sessions that could be scheduled were limited in number, the analysis of the data suggests some noticeable improvement in the reading comprehension abilities in most participants and some perception of progress in a majority of them. Their positive feedback, suggests that sustained work in this field could improve their reading comprehension skills in a significant way.La comprensión lectora en L2 es quizás la habilidad cuyos requisitos han cambiado más y más rápidamente debido a la demanda de la sociedad de la información. Los lectores no solo necesitan interpretar palabras y oraciones en artículos o libros. A veces tienen que encontrar un significado de piezas desconectadas de información en el vertido de mensajes en sitios web y redes sociales. El propósito de presente estudio es explorar las posibilidades de los mapas mentales como técnicas de aprendizaje para fomentar la comprensión lectora bajo la suposición de que mejoran. Se analizan las habilidades de comprensión en estudiantes de inglés como L2 cuando se enfrentan con fragmentos aparentemente sueltos de información escrita conectados por medio de imágenes y líneas. La experiencia en el proyecto involucró a un total de 84 participantes de dos niveles académicos consecutivos: primero y segundo año de la educación secundaria postobligatoria. Se programaron diferentes sesiones y dos procedimientos paralelos para proporcionar datos contrastantes que pudieran ser sistematizados numéricamente. Aunque las sesiones que podrían programarse eran limitados en número, el análisis de los datos sugiere alguna mejora notable en las habilidades de comprensión lectora en la mayoría de los participantes y cierta percepción de progreso en la mayoría de ellos. La retroalimentación positiva de este alumnado sugiere que el trabajo sostenido en este campo podría mejorar las habilidades de comprensión lectora de manera significativ

Dynamics and spectra of composition operators on the Schwartz space

[EN] In this paper we study the dynamics of the composition operators defined in the Schwartz space of rapidly decreasing functions. We prove that such an operator is never supercyclic and, for monotonic symbols, it is power bounded only in trivial cases. For a polynomial symbol ¿ of degree greater than one we show that the operator is mean ergodic if and only if it is power bounded and this is the case when ¿ has even degree and lacks fixed points. Do firms react to supply chain disruptions?

Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the disruption of supply chains has become a major concern for global firms. This article uses a representative sample of Spanish manufacturers that participate in global value chains to analyze whether firms are implementing strategies to respond to this concern. Using data for the period 2017?2022, we find that, on average, manufacturers have not increased the number of countries from which they source their input since the Covid-19 pandemic. Firms have not either shifted their imports to countries that are geographically and geopolitically close to Spain, and have not reshored imports. However, firms have significantly increased the stock of intermediates. Firms only diversify when they have one supplier, export to many destinations, and the imported input has a high risk of experiencing a supply chain disruption. Los juegos flash y su uso como recurso en el ciclo de Educación Infantil

En este trabajo se analizó la viabilidad y potencialidad del uso de juegos tipo flash, gratuitos y alojados en la red, como recurso didáctico en las aulas de Educación infantil, ya que se consideran elementos útiles para transmitir destrezas y contenidos a estas edades tempranas. Para ello se elaboró una propuesta didáctica, de la cual este trabajo es la primera aportación en esta temática, en la cual se seleccionaron webs con juegos flash catalogados como “infantiles” y se estudió el impacto recibido en el alumnado del ciclo de Educación Infantil (5 años), realizándose un análisis con respecto al impacto mediático, su función alfabetizadora y el efecto del juego en el niño o niña (dependiendo este último ítem de la temática seleccionada). Muy al contrario del posible prejuicio del uso de juegos de ordenador por parte de un alumnado tan joven, se comprobó que tenía un efecto positivo con respecto a la iniciación temprana en el manejo de dispositivos de informática, así como un aumento del interés por la lectura y escritura, fundamental para desenvolverse con soltura en los juegos. La temática de los juegos elegidos pretendía desarrollar habilidades como destreza visual, comprensión lectora, reflejos, manejo de ratón y teclado, resistencia a la frustración, control de impulsos, etc. Pero si ha de destacarse un aspecto es la educación mediática de los progenitores, ya que en la parte metodológica de la propuesta el proceso de jugar debía realizarse, durante un periodo estipulado no mayor de 30 minutos diarios, en un entorno conocido y tranquilo, supervisado en todo momento por los padres y madres o tutores legales de estos niños y niñas

Short-term changes in klotho and FGF23 in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction—a substudy of the DAPA-VO2 study

This substudy aimed to assess the changes in klotho and FGF-23 levels 1-month after dapagliflozin in patients with stable heart failure and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). The study included 29 patients (32.2% of the total), with 14 assigned to the placebo group and 15 to the dapagliflozin, as part of the double-blind, randomized clinical trial [DAPA-VO2 (NCT04197635)]. Blood samples were collected at baseline and after 30 days, and Klotho and FGF-23 levels were measured using ELISA Kits. Between-treatment changes (raw data) were analyzed by using the Mann-Whitney test and expressed as median (p25%–p75%). Linear regression models were utilized to analyze changes in the logarithm (log) of klotho and FGF-23. The median age was 68.3 years (60.8–72.1), with 79.3% male and 81.5% classified as NYHA II. The baseline medians of left ventricular ejection fraction, glomerular filtration rate, NT-proBNP, klotho, and FGF-23 were 35.8% (30.5–37.8), 67.4 ml/min/1.73 m2 (50.7–82.8), 1,285 pg/ml (898–2,305), 623.4 pg/ml (533.5–736.6), and 72.6 RU/ml (62.6–96.1), respectively. The baseline mean peak oxygen uptake was 13.1 ± 4.0 ml/kg/min. Compared to placebo, patients on dapagliflozin showed a significant median increase of klotho [Δ+29.5, (12.9–37.2); p = 0.009] and a non-significant decrease of FGF-23 [Δ−4.6, (−1.7 to −5.4); p = 0.051]. A significant increase in log-klotho (p = 0.011) and a decrease in log-FGF-23 (p = 0.040) were found in the inferential analysis. Electronic Patient-Reported Outcomes in Nephrology: Focus on Hemodialysis

There is an emerging interest regarding the use and relevance of patient-related outcomes (PROs). Electronic PROs (ePROs) involve the use of electronic technology, provide rapid access to this information, and are becoming more widely used in clinical trials and studies to evaluate efficacy and safety. Despite the scarce literature, this review suggests that ePROs are useful in providing a more customized and multidimensional approach to patient management and in making better clinical decisions in relevant aspects such as vascular access, duration and frequency of dialysis sessions, treatment of anemia, mental health, fatigue, and quality of life. The purpose of this review is to raise interest in the systematic use of ePROs in HD and to promote the development of studies in this field, which can respond to the gaps in knowledge and contribute to the implementation of the use of ePROs through new technologies, helping to improve the quality of health care

figurasEn este boletín se hace una presentación sobre la importancia de la información obtenida por la Red de Monitoreo del Agua Subterránea de Manizales y su posible utilidad en diferentes campos de la ingeniería; se da a conocer cómo es el trabajo de operación y funcionamiento de la red y, finalmente, se presenta un análisis gráfico de los valores históricos que hasta la fecha se han obtenido del nivel de aguas freáticas en las doce estaciones de monitoreo, realizando un análisis comparativo entre la cantidad de lluvia contabilizada por las estaciones meteorológicas y el nivel de aguas freáticas durante un periodo de tiempo
