On the need of the Light Elements Primary Process (LEPP)
Extant chemical evolution models underestimate the Galactic production of Sr,
Y and Zr as well as the Solar System abundances of s-only isotopes with
90<A<130. To solve this problem, an additional (unknown) process has been
invoked, the so-called LEPP (Light Element Primary Process). In this paper we
investigate possible alternative solutions. Basing on Full Network Stellar
evolutionary calculations, we investigate the effects on the Solar System
s-only distribution induced by the inclusion of some commonly ignored physical
processes (e.g. rotation) or by the variation of the treatment of convective
overshoot, mass-loss and the efficiency of nuclear processes. Our main findings
are: 1) at the epoch of the formation of the Solar System, our reference model
produces super-solar abundances for the whole s-only distribution, even in the
range 90<A<130; 2) within errors, the s-only distribution relative to 150Sm is
flat; 3) the s-process contribution of the less massive AGB stars (M<1.5 M_SUN)
as well as of the more massive ones (M>4.0 M_SUN) are negligible; 4) the
inclusion of rotation implies a downward shift of the whole distribution with
an higher efficiency for the heavy s-only isotopes, leading to a flatter s-only
distribution; 5) different prescriptions on convection or mass-loss produce
nearly rigid shifts of the whole distribution. In summary, a variation of the
standard paradigm of AGB nucleosynthesis would allow to reconcile models
predictions with Solar System s-only abundances. Nonetheless, the LEPP cannot
be definitely ruled out, because of the uncertainties still affecting stellar

Development and test of resistive superconducting fault current limiter; acting time and its recovery conditions
Resistive-type of superconducting fault current limiters (RSFCL) have been developed for medium voltage class aiming to operate at 1 MVA power capacity and short time recovery (< 2 s). A RSFCL in form of superconducting modular device was designed and constructed using 50 m-length of YBCO coated conductor tapes for operation under 1 kV / 1 kA and acting time of 0.1 s. In order to increase the acting time the RSFCL was combined with an air-core reactor in parallel to increase the fault limiting time up to 1 s. The tests determined the electrical and thermal characteristics of the combined resistive/ inductive protection unit. The combined fault current limiter reached a limiting current of 583 A, corresponding to a limiting factor of 3.3 times within an acting time of up to 1 s
Complex Grid Computing
This article investigates the performance of grid computing systems whose
interconnections are given by random and scale-free complex network models.
Regular networks, which are common in parallel computing architectures, are
also used as a standard for comparison. The processing load is assigned to the
processing nodes on demand, and the efficiency of the overall computing is
quantified in terms of the respective speed-ups. It is found that random
networks allow higher computing efficiency than their scale-free counterparts
as a consequence of the smaller number of isolated clusters implied by the
former model. At the same time, for fixed cluster sizes, the scale free model
tend to provide slightly better efficiency. Two modifications of the random and
scale free paradigms, where new connections tend to favor more recently added
nodes, are proposed and shown to be more effective for grid computing than the
standard models. A well-defined correlation is observed between the topological
properties of the network and their respective computing efficiency.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figure
Memoria y representación del genocidio nazi en el cine soviético. El caso de Masacre : Ven y mira
Claramente existe en el imaginario colectivo una memoria del Holocausto tejida, en gran medida, por las imágenes creadas por los medios de comunicación y el cine de las últimas décadas. Y tanto el proceso condujo a su mitificación, como su conversión en metáfora y arquetipo, tuvieron lugar gracias a una especie de simbiosis judeo-americana que promovió una lectura universalista de los componentes judíos de la memoria del genocidio a través de Hollywood desde fines de la década de 1970.
Sin embargo, en la U.R.S.S. la construcción de la memoria del genocidio no se enfocó en la universalización del caso judío. El antisemitismo imperante aún después de la guerra y la enorme cantidad de víctimas de las naciones de Europa del Este, imprimieron una característica distintiva en sus representaciones cinematográficas en las que, en muchos casos, prima la rememoración del genocidio a escala “nacional”.

Este trabajo analiza el papel del Estado en un marco determinado por la democracia representativa, la competencia política y los desafíos de la globalización que modifican el viejo Estado-nación westfaliano a formas irremediablemente nuevas de organización que trascienden el sistema mundial tradicional basado y dominado por él mismo. Así, desde el entendimiento y análisis de la conformación de un marco normativo fiscal y presupuestario, ideológica y relacionalmente estructurado, a la trascendencia de sus efectos en el marco político-institucional, se intentará brindar elementos que permitan parcialmente (puesto que son acotados a los propósitos tratados en el artículo) comprender (desde una visión de las capacidades endógenas - exógenas y la política financiera establecida) la realidad Latinoamericana y el abordaje de la crisis financiera internacional.This paper analyzes the role of the state in a given framework for representative democracy, political competition and the challenges of globalization that modify the old state - Westphalian nation to new organizational forms inevitably transcend the traditional world system based and dominated by him. From the understanding of the formation of an initial budget and fiscal framework, ideological and relationally structured, to the significance of its effects on the political framework - institutional, will attempt to provide elements to partially (since it is bounded to the purposes discussed in the Article) understand (from a vision of endogenous capacities - exogenous and financial policy established) Latin American reality and addressing the international financial crisis.Ce travail analyse le rôle de l’Etat dans un champ délimité par la démocratie représentative, la compétence politique et les défis de la mondialisation qui modifient le vieil Etat-nation westphalien en formes inévitablement neuves d’organisation qui s’étendent dans le système mondial traditionnel basé et dominé par lui-même.
