Perception of occupational stress by military firefighters from a city in the countryside of Minas Gerais

Objective: to identify the factors those predispose the military fireman to develop occupational stress. Method: this was a descriptive study, with quantitative and qualitative approach. 32 interviews were conducted using a semistructured questionnaire and an interview recorded with guiding questions. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 16.0 version and for the interviews was used content analysis. Results: Seven categories namely: understanding stress, stress in daily work; factors stressors and emotional damage due to stress. Conclusion: It was noticed in this study the difficulty of theoretical science on this subject. Moreover, we can infer that concern firefighters, feel and express stress in different ways and thus to realize when they are under job stress

LÍCITAS E ILÍCITAS: AS DROGAS COMO TEMÁTICA NO ENSINO DE CIÊNCIAS

Preventing drug use is an important action that can occur with the teaching of science and health in elementary school. Students sometimes are subject to a possible start to drug use by the desire to insert a group and be exposed to a large number of users; thus, it is believed that preventive action can be more effective than treatment of addicts. Thus, this paper describes actions of drug prevention in schools with students of class 8th year of Morning State School Antônio José de Lima, whose theme was Drug Prevention. To this end, content which match the reality of students applying probing questionnaire, lecture, dynamics, assessment questionnaire were worked out, and finally proposed the making of an educational product that materialized through a site powered by the students themselves, with information on prevention of drug use.A prevenção ao uso de drogas é uma importante ação que pode ocorrer junto ao ensino de ciências e saúde no ensino fundamental.  Os estudantes por vezes, estão sujeitos a um possível início ao consumo de drogas pelo desejo de inserção a um grupo e por estarem expostos a um grande numero de usuários; assim, acredita-se que ações preventivas podem ser mais eficazes do que o tratamento de viciados. Desta forma, o presente trabalho visa relatar ações de prevenção de drogas na escola, com alunos da turma 8º ano matutino da Escola Estadual Antônio José de Lima, cujo tema foi Prevenção de Drogas. Para tanto, foram trabalhados conteúdos que condizem com a realidade dos estudantes, aplicando questionário de sondagem, aula teórica, dinâmica, questionário de avaliação, e por fim proposto a confecção de um produto educacional que se materializou através de um site alimentado pelos próprios estudantes, com informações sobre prevenção ao uso de drogas

Pain, physiological alterations and analgesia in patients submitted to medium-sized surgeries

The objectives of this study were to evaluate pain intensity in postoperative patients, identify associations between physiological alterations and the presence of pain, and describe the analgesia used. This qualitative, longitudinal study was performed in a public teaching hospital by evaluating pain, physiological alterations and analgesic scheme of 351 patients in three postoperative moments following medium-sized surgeries. Descriptive analysis of the absolute and percentile frequencies was performed. The Chi-squared and Bonferroni’s tests were used to verify associations and variances. The occurrence of pain reduced with time in the postoperative period. Mild pain prevailed. The physiological alterations declined and were associated with pain in every moment of the studied period. Regarding analgesia, the fixed time scheme combined with the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, simple analgesics and opioids were the most used. In conclusion, this type of analgesia helps to manage pain, which is associated with the presence of physiological alterations.
