Estrategias de enfermería en el proceso de donación de órganos

La donación de órganos es en ocasiones el único tratamiento para algunas enfermedades. Su evolución a lo largo de los años ha sido vertiginosa, sobre todo en España, que se sitúa en lo más alto del mundo en lo que respecta a donaciones, en parte gracias a la Organización Nacional de Trasplantes. Sin embargo, todavía hay muchos obstáculos que salvar para aumentar el número de donaciones, y uno de ellos es disminuir las negativas familiares en la solicitud de los órganos. Una vez aceptada la donación de órganos por parte de la familia, se lleva a cabo un complicado proceso en el que la coordinación de equipos es esencial. El objetivo de este trabajo es definir el papel que enfermería juega en el proceso de la donación de órganos. Para la realización del trabajo se contacta con Dña. Mª Mercedes Domínguez, coordinadora de enfermería de trasplantes del Complejo Asistencial Universitario de Palencia, quien facilita el libro Familia y Donación de Órganos, del cual se lleva a cabo una lectura crítica del capítulo Concienciación para la donación: estrategias para disminuir las negativas familiares. En los resultados se analizan los puntos clave del capítulo y se buscan los principales problemas que encuentran los sanitarios a la hora de la realización de la solicitud de los órganos. La entrevista a la familia es uno de los momentos más delicados de todo el proceso, por lo que la preparación de la misma es algo esencial para que resulte satisfactoria y en la que enfermería juega un papel importante. Relativistic descriptions of quasielastic charged-current neutrino-nucleus scattering: application to scaling and superscaling ideas

The analysis of the recent experimental data on charged-current neutrino-nucleus scattering cross sections measured at MiniBooNE requires fully relativistic theoretical descriptions also accounting for the role of final state interactions. In this work we evaluate inclusive quasielastic differential neutrino cross sections within the framework of the relativistic impulse approximation. Results based on the relativistic mean field potential are compared with the ones corresponding to the relativistic Green function approach. XMM-Newton observations of 1A 0535+262 in quiescence

Accretion onto magnetized neutron stars is expected to be centrifugally inhibited at low accretion rates. Several sources, however, are known to pulsate in quiescence at luminosities below the theoretical limit predicted for the onset of the centrifugal barrier. The source 1A 0535+262 is one of them. Here we present the results of an analysis of a ~50 ks long XMM-Newton observation of 1A 0535+262 in quiescence. At the time of the observation, the neutron star was close to apastron, and the source had remained quiet for two orbital cycles. In spite of this, we detected a pulsed X-ray flux of ~3e-11 erg/cm2/s . Several observed properties, including the power spectrum, remained similar to those observed in the outbursts. Particularly, we have found that the frequency of the break detected in the quiescent noise power spectrum follows the same correlation with flux observed when the source is in outburst. This correlation has been associated with the truncation of the accretion disk at the magnetosphere boundary. We argue that our result, along with other arguments previously reported in the literature, suggests that the accretion in quiescence also proceeds from an accretion disk around the neutron star. The proposed scenario consistently explains the energy of the cyclotron line observed in 1A 0535+262, and the timing properties of the source including the spin frequency evolution within and between the outbursts, and the frequency of the break in power spectrum.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures, accepted for publication in A&

Role of Air in Granular Jet Formation

A steel ball impacting on a bed of very loose, fine sand results in a surprisingly vigorous jet which shoots up from the surface of the sand [D. Lohse et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 93, 198003 (2004)]. When the ambient pressure p is reduced, the jet is found to be less vigorous [R. Royer et al., Nature Phys. 1, 164 (2005)]. In this Letter we show that p also affects the rate of penetration of the ball: Higher pressure increases the rate of penetration, which makes the cavity created by the ball close deeper into the sand bed, where the hydrostatic pressure is stronger, thereby producing a more energetic collapse and jetting. The origin of the deeper penetration under normal ambient pressure is found to lie in the extra sand fluidization caused by the air flow induced by the falling ball

Relativistic descriptions of final-state interactions in charged-current quasielastic neutrino-nucleus scattering at MiniBooNE kinematics

The results of two relativistic models with different descriptions of the final-state interactions are compared with the MiniBooNE data of charged-current quasielastic cross sections. The relativistic mean field model uses the same potential for the bound and ejected nucleon wave functions. In the relativistic Green's function (RGF) model the final-state interactions are described in the inclusive scattering consistently with the exclusive scattering using the same complex optical potential. The RGF results describe the experimental data for total cross-sections without the need to modify the nucleon axial mass.Comment: 5 pages 3 figure

Comparar el uso sistemático de piperacilina tazobactam versus cefepime para el manejo empírico de infecciones asociadas al cuidado de la salud, en relación a aislamientos de microorganismos AmpC en la unidad de cuidado intensivo pediátrico del Hospital Universitario Clínica San Rafael desde el año 2007 a 2011

Este estudio pretende evaluar los aislamientos microbiológicos de bacilos gram negativos con resistencia a cefoxitin (marcador diagnostico de AmpC inducible) en infecciones relacionadas al cuidado de la salud en los últimos 5 años en pacientes hospitalizados en cuidado intensivo pediátrico, comparar periodos anuales del 2007 y 2008 con el uso de piperacilina-tazobactam con los años 2009- 2010-2011 cuando se utilizo cefepime, los resultados obtenidos sustentarían la continuidad del manejo empírico actual de tales infecciones o nos orientaría hacia probables cambios de tratamiento en beneficio de nuestros pacientes

Heroes or martyrs?

Es difícil pensar que hace algunas semanas disfrutábamos de los centros comerciales, cines, restaurantes, gimnasio y cualquier otra actividad de ocio, compartíamos tiempo en familia y en aquel momento no imaginábamos cuan importantes eran, que pronto nos ha cambiado la vida; y de un momento a otro los invisibles pasamos a ser héroes como lo quiere hacer parecer nuestra sociedad, romantizando nuestro holocausto, qué sentido tiene que nos aplaudan en los balcones cada noche y nuestros amigos nos envíen mensajes de apoyo si no disponemos de las garantías necesarias para desempeñar nuestro trabajo, solo se convierten en aplausos efímeros
