A serra do Tepequém, no Norte do estado de Roraima, tem passado por intensas modificações em sua paisagem ocasionada tanto por ação natural como antrópica. A ocupação na região tem contribuído para retirada da vegetação e abertura de estradas, o que intensifica a vulnerabilidade do solo e os impactos ambientais e antrópicos. Na serra, as construções ocupam áreas próximas a encostas, rede de drenagem e feições erosivas lineares que apresentam dinâmica constante em decorrência da ação climática
Quasi Free 238U (e,e'f)-Cross Section in Macroscopic-Microscopic Approach
We present the result of a theoretical study of inclusive quasi free
electrofission of U. The off-shell cross sections for the quasi free
reaction stage have been calculated within the Plane Wave Impulse Approximation
(PWIA), using a Macroscopic -Microscopic description of the proton and neutron
single particle momentum distributions. Electron wave function distortion
corrections were included using the effective momentum approximation, and the
Final State Interaction (FSI) effects were calculated using an optical
potential. The fissility for the proton single hole excited states of the
residual nucleus Pa was calculated both without and with contributions
of the pre-equilibrium emission of the particles. The fissility for
residual nuclei was calculated within the compound nucleus model.
The cross sections thus obtained were compared with available

The MIDAS experiment: A prototype for the microwave emission of Ultra-High Energy Cosmic Rays
Recent measurements suggest that extensive air showers initiated by
ultra-high energy cosmic rays (UHECR) emit signals in the microwave band of the
electromagnetic spectrum caused by the collisions of the free-electrons with
the atmospheric neutral molecules in the plasma produced by the passage of the
shower. Such emission is isotropic and could allow the detection of air showers
with 100% duty cycle and a calorimetric-like energy measurement, a significant
improvement over current detection techniques. We have built MIDAS (MIcrowave
Detection of Air Showers), a prototype of microwave detector, which consists of
a 4.5 m diameter antenna with a cluster of 53 feed-horns in the 4 GHz range.

Symmetries of topological field theories in the BV-framework
Topological field theories of Schwarz-type generally admit symmetries whose
algebra does not close off-shell, e.g. the basic symmetries of BF models or
vector supersymmetry of the gauge-fixed action for Chern-Simons theory (this
symmetry being at the origin of the perturbative finiteness of the theory). We
present a detailed discussion of all these symmetries within the algebraic
approach to the Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism. Moreover, we discuss the general
algebraic construction of topological models of both Schwarz- and Witten-type.Comment: 30 page
Resting Heart Rate as Predictor for Left Ventricular Dysfunction and Heart Failure MESA (Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis)
ObjectivesThe objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between baseline resting heart rate and incidence of heart failure (HF) and global and regional left ventricular (LV) dysfunction.BackgroundThe association of resting heart rate to HF and LV function has not been well described in an asymptomatic multi-ethnic population.MethodsResting heart rate was measured in participants in the MESA (Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis) trial at inclusion. Incident HF was registered (n = 176) during follow-up (median 7 years) in those who underwent cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (n = 5,000). Changes in ejection fraction (ΔEF) and peak circumferential strain (Δεcc) were measured as markers of developing global and regional LV dysfunction in 1,056 participants imaged at baseline and 5 years later. Time to HF (Cox model) and Δεcc and ΔEF (multiple linear regression models) were adjusted for demographics, traditional cardiovascular risk factors, calcium score, LV end-diastolic volume, and mass in addition to resting heart rate.ResultsCox analysis demonstrated that for 1 beat/min increase in resting heart rate, there was a 4% greater adjusted relative risk for incident HF (hazard ratio: 1.04; 95% CI: 1.02 to 1.06; p < 0.001). Adjusted multiple regression models demonstrated that resting heart rate was positively associated with deteriorating εcc and decrease in EF, even when all coronary heart disease events were excluded from the model.ConclusionsElevated resting heart rate was associated with increased risk for incident HF in asymptomatic participants in the MESA trial. Higher heart rate was related to development of regional and global LV dysfunction independent of subclinical atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.
