USING A SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO ESTABLISH NEED AND BUY-IN PRIOR TO SELECTING A SCHOOLWIDE MODEL: A MIXED METHODS SEQUENTIAL EXPLANATORY DESIGN
School personnel throughout the United States are rapidly adopting Schoolwide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS). School administrators and staff members are implementing SWPBIS without the implementation of a needs assessment to measure preparedness and buy-in prior to a schoolwide initiative. The current research on SWPBIS lacks rigorous evidence for an established level of need and buy-in. The purpose of this study was to measure need and buy-in of a school climate by using a systematic approach within a mixed methods sequential explanatory design (MMSE). The MMSE design used determined the level of need and buy-in towards a SWPBIS model for a rural school district. The MMSE was used in a two phase process: phase one was a survey on school climate and phase two was a series of focus group interviews. This study provides evidence of a school districts high level of need within the current negative school climate and its reduced rate of buy-in. Implications for future research using an MMSE design prior to SWPBIS are discussed
Temperature Check: Designing Support Systems for Older Adults in Heat Waves
The climate crisis is escalating and extreme heat events are becoming more frequent, more intense, and longer in duration. The health risks associated with extreme heat are well documented. However, ensuring the health of older adults âthe fastest growing demographic in Canada â is a complex challenge that we are already facing today. Taking a design research approach, this study goes through a process of first diverging to explore the issue, and then converging on the ways in which communities can support older adults in adopting adaptive health-related behaviours in times of extreme heat. In exploration, this research connects with the voices of older adults, as well as professionals working in health, social and emergency service role to gain a deeper understanding of the challenge at hand.
The Health Belief Model, a framework for understanding health-related behaviours, is used to push examination further, and to define a set of design principles for innovation: encourage self-sufficiency and independence, promote learning and understanding of extreme heat risks, remove barriers or incentivize benefits to taking adaptive measures, support psychological wellbeing as well as physical health, maximize existing community resources, and broaden engagement of stakeholders. These principles are used to generate five community-based interventions suitable even for smaller cities that can help to protect older adultsâ psychological and physical health while promoting new social practices and norms in times of extreme heat

Online Price Behavior and eBay\u27s Price Advantage
EBay is one of the world\u27s most popular auction websites. Millions of buyers and sellers use eBay as a medium for e-commerce everyday. In this paper I will explain that one of the primary reasons for the success of this company is the perception that on average, eBay offers the best price between any two new like kind products. There are many factors that effect prices online and offline. Online purchasing and transaction behavior play a large roll in the actual prices that can be charged. Traditional retail establishments (retail establishments that have a physical location) have historically been the primary shopping location for all consumers.
With the proliferation of the Internet and the advancement of the technology that surround it there has been a rapid increase in the amount of purchases and transactions that are being conducted online. This paper will present the benefits that online purchasing and online transactions in general present to individual consumers and businesses. It will also discuss how these parties are taking advantage of online resources. There are also inherent disadvantages and in some cases dangers with regards to online transactions. All of these factors impact the prices that can be charged online and offline.
After presenting the differences in average prices between identical goods found on eBay compared to those same goods found in traditional online and offline retail establishments, information surrounding the current and future online consumer behavior will attempt to explain the reason for price discrepancies. Also th.is same information should be able to provide insights about online price behavior in the futur
OpikinÄwÄsowin (Cree)/ EĆtth'i NuheskĂ©ne DenushyĂ© (Dene) Raising our Children Well: Indigenous Culture and the Child Welfare System in Saskatchewan
In Saskatchewan, Indigenous children account for 86% of the children currently in care; the reason for this over-representation has direct links to attendance in Residential Schools in Canada. This research explores the correlation between strong/healthy connections to one's Indigenous culture and how this can help mitigate the risk of becoming involved in current child welfare systems
