The alternative control has as characteristics the absence of contamination and social and environmental toxicity, and an alternative is the extract of propolis, which objectified with this work verify the effect of solutions of propolis extract in vitro control of the fungus Aspergillus sp, and the physiological quality of the cucumber seeds after treatment with the same solutions. Isolate from the fungus was inoculated in BDA medium with concentrations of 0; 8; 12; 18 and 25% of aqueous PropamaxÂź extract, totaling five treatments. For the seed treatment, were used the same concentrations of propolis extract. The design was completely randomized with six replicates. It was verified that with the linear increase of the dose of the propolis extract, there was interference in the fungus development reaching maximum with 25%. Cucumber seeds treated with propolis solutions do not affect the physiological quality, resulting in a possible alternative seed treatment

Analysis of the fluid-dynamic behavior of fluidized and vibrofluidized bed containing glycerol

The fluid-dynamic characteristics of fluidized and vibrofluidized beds of inert particles in liquids are being widely studied by researchers interested in understanding and modeling the paste drying process. In this work characteristic fluid-dynamic curves of pressure drop versus air velocity were obtained for fluidized and vibrofluidized beds with glycerol. Glycerol was used as a standard fluid to simulate a paste in the bed, and "ballotini" glass spheres were used as inert particles. The fluid-dynamic behavior as well as the quality of the fluidization regimes was analyzed through pressure drop versus air velocity curves and visual observation of the flow patterns in the beds. The results indicated that standard deviation curves are a useful tool for gaining an understanding of the fluid-dynamic behavior of a vibrofluidized bed. They allow detection of changes in the fluid-dynamic behavior which were not observed by analyzing only the pressure drop versus air velocity curves. For fluidized beds (G=0.00), it was also observed that analysis of curves of standard deviations of pressure drop may help in the estimation of more accurate values of minimum fluidization velocities

Assim, uma revisĂŁo da literatura sobre a transferĂȘncia de massa e a secagem em leitos vibrofluidizados foi realizada, envolvendo resultados experimentais e modelagem matemĂĄtica.<br>Development of processing technology and equipments requires new methods and better quality of the processed product. In the continuous drying process, utilization of equipments that promotes an increment in the transfer coefficients becomes of the major interest. The use of vibrational energy has been recommended to the dispersed materials. Such method is based on the use of vibrational energy applied to disperse media. Thus, a literature review on the mass transfer and drying in vibro-fluidized beds was carried out, showing experimental results and mathematical modeling
