Exact Stochastic Mean-Field dynamics
The exact evolution of a system coupled to a complex environment can be
described by a stochastic mean-field evolution of the reduced system density.
The formalism developed in Ref. [D.Lacroix, Phys. Rev. E77, 041126 (2008)] is
illustrated in the Caldeira-Leggett model where a harmonic oscillator is
coupled to a bath of harmonic oscillators. Similar exact reformulation could be
used to extend mean-field transport theories in Many-body systems and
incorporate two-body correlations beyond the mean-field one. The connection

Fusion at deep subbarrier energies: potential inversion revisited
For a single potential barrier, the barrier penetrability can be inverted
based on the WKB approximation to yield the barrier thickness. We apply this
method to heavy-ion fusion reactions at energies well below the Coulomb barrier
and directly determine the inter-nucleus potential between the colliding
nuclei. To this end, we assume that fusion cross sections at deep subbarrier
energies are governed by the lowest barrier in the barrier distribution. The
inverted inter-nucleus potentials for the O +Sm and O
+Pb reactions show that they are much thicker than phenomenological
potentials. We discuss a consequence of such thick potential by fitting the

Extraction of nucleus-nucleus potential and energy dissipation from dynamical mean-field theory
Nucleus-nucleus interaction potentials in heavy-ion fusion reactions are
extracted from the microscopic time-dependent Hartree-Fock theory. When the
center-of-mass energy is much higher than the Coulomb barrier energy, extracted
potentials identify with the frozen density approximation. As the
center-of-mass energy decreases to the Coulomb barrier energy, potentials
become energy dependent. This dependence indicates dynamical reorganization of
internal degrees of freedom and leads to a reduction of the "apparent" barrier.
Including this effect leads to the Coulomb barrier energy very close to
experimental one. Aspects of one-body energy dissipation extracted from the

Realistic Neutrino Opacities for Supernova Simulations With Correlations and Weak Magnetism
Advances in neutrino transport allow realistic neutrino interactions to be
incorporated into supernova simulations. We add tensor couplings to
relativistic RPA calculations of neutrino opacities. Our results reproduce
free-space neutrino-nucleon cross sections at low density, including weak
magnetism and recoil corrections. In addition, our opacities are
thermodynamically consistent with relativistic mean field equations of state.
We find antineutrino mean free paths that are considerably larger then those
for neutrinos. This difference depends little on density. In a supernova, this
difference could lead to an average energy of that is larger than
that for by an amount that is comparable to the energy difference

On the Ricci dark energy model
We study the Ricci dark energy model (RDE) which was introduced as an
alternative to the holographic dark energy model. We point out that an
accelerating phase of the RDE is that of a constant dark energy model. This
implies that the RDE may not be a new model of explaining the present

The supercuspidal representations of p-adic classical groups
Let G be a unitary, symplectic or special orthogonal group over a locally
compact non-archimedean local field of odd residual characteristic. We
construct many new supercuspidal representations of G, and Bushnell-Kutzko
types for these representations. Moreover, we prove that every irreducible

Direct and indirect orthotic management of medial compartment osteoarthritis of the knee
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a painful condition and affects approximately 80% of individuals by the age of 55 [1], with knee OA occurring two times more frequently than OA of the hand or hip [2].The condition is more prevalent in the medial compartment and restricts the daily lives of individuals due to pain and a lack of functional independence. Patients with medial compartment osteoarthritis often have a varus alignment, with the mechanical axis and load bearing passing through this compartment with a greater adduction moment leading to greater pain and progression of osteoarthritis [3]. Surgery for the condition is possible although in some cases, particularly younger patients or those not yet requiring surgery, clinical management remains a challenge. Before surgery is considered, however, conservative management is advocated, though no one treatment has been shown to be most effective, and there are few quality biomechanical or clinical studies. Of the conservative approaches the principal orthotic treatments are valgus knee braces and laterally wedged foot inlays. Studies of knee valgus bracing have consistently demonstrated an associated decreased pain and improved function [4], and greater confidence [5]. A laterally wedged foot inlay has a thicker lateral border and applies a valgus moment to the heel. It is theorised that by changing the position of the ankle and subtalar joints during weight-bearing [6] the lateral wedges may apply a valgus moment across the knee as well as the rearfoot, with the assumed reduction on load in the medial knee compartment [7]. However, there has been no study to directly compare these orthotic treatments in the same study. The aim of this research is to investigate the efficacy of valgus knee braces and laterally wedged foot inlays in reducing the varus knee moment
Lattice effects on the current-voltage characteristics of superconducting arrays
The lattice effects on the current-voltage characteristics of two-dimensional
arrays of resistively shunted Josephson junctions are investigated. The lattice
potential energies due to the discrete lattice structure are calculated for
several geometries and directions of current injection. We compare the energy
barrier for vortex-pair unbinding with the lattice pinning potential, which
shows that lattice effects are negligible in the low-current limit as well as
in the high-current limit. At intermediate currents, on the other hand, the
lattice potential becomes comparable to the barrier height and the lattice
effects may be observed in the current-voltage characteristics.Comment: 5 pages including 5 figures in two columns, to appear in Phys. Rev.
