Entropy, non-ergodicity and non-Gaussian behaviour in ballistic transport
Ballistic transportation introduces new challenges in the thermodynamic
properties of a gas of particles. For example, violation of mixing, ergodicity
and of the fluctuation-dissipation theorem may occur, since all these processes
are connected. In this work, we obtain results for all ranges of diffusion,
i.e., both for subdiffusion and superdiffusion, where the bath is such that it
gives origin to a colored noise. In this way we obtain the skewness and the
non-Gaussian factor for the probability distribution function of the dynamical
variable. We put particular emphasis on ballistic diffusion, and we demonstrate
that in this case, although the second law of thermodynamics is preserved, the
entropy does not reach a maximum and a non-Gaussian behavior occurs. This
implies the non-applicability of the central limit theorem.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figure
Two photon decay of and at finite temperature and density
A comparative study of the anomalous decays , at
finite temperature and at finite density, is performed in the framework of the
three--flavor Nambu--Jona-Lasinio. The similarities and differences between
both scenarios are discussed. In both cases the lifetimes of these mesons
decrease significantly at the critical point, although this might not be
sufficient to observe enhancement of these decays in heavy-ion collisions.Comment: 5 pages, 1 figure. Talk given at Strange Quark Matter 2004, Cape

ESO Imaging Survey VII. Distant Cluster Candidates over 12 square degrees
In this paper the list of candidate clusters identified from the I-band data
of the ESO Imaging Survey (EIS) is completed using the images obtained over a
total area of about 12 square degrees. Together with the data reported earlier
the total I-band coverage of EIS is 17 square degrees, which has yielded a
sample of 252 cluster candidates in the redshift range 0.2 \lsim z \lsim 1.3.
This is the largest optically-selected sample currently available in the
Southern Hemisphere. It is also well distributed in the sky thus providing
targets for a variety of VLT programs nearly year round.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, submitted to Astronomy & Astrophysic
The power of people: When people and culture are the key to organisations success
INTRODUCTION
This study intends to analyse the impact of people and culture’s management through engagement and employee experience towards the organisation’s success. In fact, after some research the data demonstrate that organisations understand the importance of retain and create happiness at work. The same organisations are starting to create a journey for their workforce: since the first day people have contact with the brand until the last day when they decide to leave or they go on the retirement and they take with them all the memories and experience, heritage with them. Organisations want and understand the need of having employees engaged, attract new talent, and retain team members, especially high performers and key people. This study reveals that when employees are more committed to be happier at work, they tend to take part of the ownership of their organisations. Today organisations are more focused on people and the value that they can add to every single product and/or service they design, create and deliver. Organisations want to feed a better and healthier culture founded on an inside-out mission and real values. All this investment on internal management is taking the consumer experience to a higher level. Happy and committed employees will create happier and more loyal clients.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Coleman meets Schwinger
It is well known that spherical D-branes are nucleated in the presence of an
external RR electric field. Using the description of D-branes as solitons of
the tachyon field on non-BPS D-branes, we show that the brane nucleation
process can be seen as the decay of the tachyon false vacuum. This process can
describe the decay of flux-branes in string theory or the decay of quintessence
potentials arising in flux compactifications.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figure
