Juvenile whale shark, Rhincodon typus stranded at Ayikkara, along the Malabar coast of Kerala
Female whale shark, Rhincodon typus
measuring 475 cm in length and approximately 800
kg in weight was stranded near Ayikkara Fisheries
Harbour in Kannur District on 25th November 2011.
Whale shark is locally called as “pullisravu” and the
stranding of this species is not common in shallow
waters along the Malabar region. Whale shark is
listed as an endangered species as per the IUCN

Universality in spectral condensation
Self-organization is the spontaneous formation of spatial, temporal, or spatiotemporal patterns in complex systems far from equilibrium. During such self-organization, energy distributed in a broadband of frequencies gets condensed into a dominant mode, analogous to a condensation phenomenon. We call this phenomenon spectral condensation and study its occurrence in fluid mechanical, optical and electronic systems. We define a set of spectral measures to quantify this condensation spanning several dynamical systems. Further, we uncover an inverse power law behaviour of spectral measures with the power corresponding to the dominant peak in the power spectrum in all the aforementioned systems

Appraisal of the Marine Fisheries in Andhra Pradesh
With a coastline of about 980 km, Andhra Pradesh has a rich marine
fishery resource and, producing on an average 1,21,000 t of marine fish, it ranks
fifth among the maritime States. The vast segment of the continental shelf,
of nearly 31,000 sq km, bordering nine coastal districts, receives copious rains
from both the monsoons, aside from the mighty discharge of two great rivers,
the Godavary and the Krishna, thus greatly enriching its flora and fauna-
Nevertheless, it is subject to extreme climatic vicissitudes. Whereas the coast is
caressed by gentle waves during January-April, it is liable to be hit by devastating
cyclones during October-November, such as the one that had occurred in the
N. E. monsoon of 1977 and caused an infernal misery, which is still fresh in the
mind of the coastal people. Well-developed coastal reads and shelters are,
however, now constructed in order to save lives and property during cyclones
Aplastic Crisis as Primary Manifestation of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Aplastic crisis is an unusual feature of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We report the case of a 54-year-old woman presenting with both (extravascular) Coombs-positive hemolytic anemia and laboratory findings of bone marrow hyporegeneration with concomitant severe neutropenia. A bone marrow biopsy confirmed aplastic crisis. Diagnostic work-up revealed soaring titers of autoantibodies (anti-nuclear, anti-double-stranded DNA, anti-cardiolipin-IgM, and anti-beta 2-glykoprotein-IgM antibodies), indicating a connective tissue disease as the most plausible reason for bone marrow insufficiency. As the criteria for SLE were fulfilled, we initiated an immunosuppressive therapy by steroids, which led to a rapid complete hematologic and clinical remission in our patient. In this case, we could report on one of the rare cases of SLE-induced aplastic crisis showing that this condition can be entirely reversed by immunosuppressive treatment and that SLE-induced aplastic crisis yields a good prognosis. In conclusion, in a case of aplastic crisis, physicians should be aware that SLE can be a rare cause that is accessible to specific treatment
