Lattice energy-momentum tensor with Symanzik improved actions

    Get PDF
We define the energy-momentum tensor on lattice for the λϕ4\lambda \phi^4 and for the nonlinear σ\sigma-model Symanzik tree-improved actions, using Ward identities or an explicit matching procedure. The resulting operators give the correct one loop scale anomaly, and in the case of the sigma model they can have applications in Monte Carlo simulations.Comment: Self extracting archive fil

On the large N limit, W_\infty Strings, Star products, AdS/CFT Duality, Nonlinear Sigma Models on AdS spaces and Chern-Simons p-branes

It is shown that the large NN limit of SU(N) YM in curvedcurved mm-dim backgrounds can be subsumed by a higher m+nm+n dimensional gravitational theory which can be identified to an mm-dim generally invariant gauge theory of diffs NN, where NN is an nn-dim internal space (Cho, Sho, Park, Yoon). Based on these findings, a very plausible geometrical interpretation of the AdS/CFTAdS/CFT correspondence could be given. Conformally invariant sigma models in D=2nD=2n dimensions with target non-compact SO(2n,1) groups are reviewed. Despite the non-compact nature of the SO(2n,1), the classical action and Hamiltonian are positive definite. Instanton field configurations are found to correspond geometrically to conformal ``stereographic'' mappings of R2nR^{2n} into the Euclidean signature AdS2nAdS_{2n} spaces. The relation between Self Dual branes and Chern-Simons branes, High Dimensional Knots, follows. A detailed discussion on WW_\infty symmetry is given and we outline the Vasiliev procedure to construct an action involving higher spin massless fields in AdS4AdS_4. This AdS4AdS_4 spacetime higher spin theory should have a one-to-one correspondence to noncritical WW_\infty strings propagating on AdS4×S7AdS_4 \times S^7.Comment: 43 pages, Tex fil

The light-cone gauge and the calculation of the two-loop splitting functions

    Get PDF
We present calculations of next-to-leading order QCD splitting functions, employing the light-cone gauge method of Curci, Furmanski, and Petronzio (CFP). In contrast to the `principal-value' prescription used in the original CFP paper for dealing with the poles of the light-cone gauge gluon propagator, we adopt the Mandelstam-Leibbrandt prescription which is known to have a solid field-theoretical foundation. We find that indeed the calculation using this prescription is conceptionally clear and avoids the somewhat dubious manipulations of the spurious poles required when the principal-value method is applied. We reproduce the well-known results for the flavour non-singlet splitting function and the N_C^2 part of the gluon-to-gluon singlet splitting function, which are the most complicated ones, and which provide an exhaustive test of the ML prescription. We also discuss in some detail the x=1 endpoint contributions to the splitting functions.Comment: 41 Pages, LaTeX, 8 figures and tables as eps file

Predictive Psychosocial Factors of Child-to-Parent Violence in a Sample of Mexican Adolescents

The aim of this study was to carry out a psychosocial analysis of child-to-parent violence (CPV) in a sample of school adolescents, considering a set of individual variables (psychological distress, problematic use of social networking sites, and perceived non-conformist social reputation) and family variables (open and problematic communication with parents) according to sex. The sample consisted of 3, 731 adolescents (54% boys), aged between 14 and 16 years (M = 14.6 years, SD = 0.567), from the state of Nuevo León, Mexico. The scores of the boys and girls were analyzed to check for differences. Also, correlations between all the study variables were calculated. Finally, a multiple stepwise regression analysis was carried out for the total sample and also for boys and girls separately. Results confirmed the important role of individual variables as predictors of CPV in boys and girls. The main difference between boys and girls was observed in the predictive weight of problematic use of social networking sites, which was higher in girls than in boys. Open communication with the father was a significant factor for predicting the decrease of CPV levels in the case of boys, while open communication with the mother predicted the decrease of CPV in girls. Problematic communication with the mother showed similar values in boys and girls when predicting CPV, however, the predictive weight of problematic communication with the father was higher in girls than in boys. These results are interesting and have important implications for the prevention of CPV

A Rigourous Treatment of the Lattice Renormalization Problem of F_B

The BB-meson decay constant can be measured on the lattice using a 1/mb1/m_b expansion. To relate the physical quantity to Monte Carlo data one has to know the renormalization coefficient, ZZ, between the lattice operators and their continuum counterparts. We come back to this computation to resolve discrepancies found in previous calculations. We define and discuss in detail the renormalization procedure that allows the (perturbative) computation of ZZ. Comparing the one-loop calculations in the effective Lagrangian approach with the direct two-loop calculation of the two-point BB-meson correlator in the limit of large bb-quark mass, we prove that the two schemes give consistent results to order αs\alpha_s. We show that there is, however, a renormalization prescription ambiguity that can have sizeable numerical consequences. This ambiguity can be resolved in the framework of an O(a)O(a) improved calculation, and we describe the correct prescription in that case. Finally we give the numerical values of ZZ that correspond to the different types of lattice approximations discussed in the paper.Comment: 27 pages, 2 figures (Plain TeX, figures in an appended postscript file
