Crude oil desulfurization
High sulfur crude oil is desulfurized by a low temperature (25-80 C.) chlorinolysis at ambient pressure in the absence of organic solvent or diluent but in the presence of water (water/oil=0.3) followed by a water and caustic wash to remove sulfur and chlorine containing reaction products. The process described can be practiced at a well site for the recovery of desulfurized oil used to generate steam for injection into the well for enhanced oil recovery
One-dimensional radiation-hydrodynamic simulations of imploding spherical plasma liners with detailed equation-of-state modeling
This work extends the one-dimensional radiation-hydrodynamic imploding
spherical argon plasma liner simulations of T. J. Awe et al. [Phys. Plasmas 18,
072705 (2011)] by using a detailed tabular equation-of-state (EOS) model,
whereas Awe et al. used a polytropic EOS model. Results using the tabular EOS
model give lower stagnation pressures by a factor of 3.9-8.6 and lower peak ion
temperatures compared to the polytropic EOS results. Both local thermodynamic
equilibrium (LTE) and non-LTE EOS models were used in this work, giving similar
results on stagnation pressure. The lower stagnation pressures using a tabular
EOS model are attributed to a reduction in the liner's ability to compress
arising from the energy sink introduced by ionization and electron excitation,
which are not accounted for in a polytropic EOS model. Variation of the plasma
liner species for the same initial liner geometry, mass density, and velocity
was also explored using the LTE tabular EOS model, showing that the highest
stagnation pressure is achieved with the highest atomic mass species for the

Despite the recent criticism within the special theory of relativity, there exists an arrangement of stable clocks rotating with the earth which predicts diurnal variations of the one-way speed of light, as suggested previously
Lacie phase 1 Classification and Mensuration Subsystem (CAMS) rework experiment
An experiment was designed to test the ability of the Classification and Mensuration Subsystem rework operations to improve wheat proportion estimates for segments that had been processed previously. Sites selected for the experiment included three in Kansas and three in Texas, with the remaining five distributed in Montana and North and South Dakota. The acquisition dates were selected to be representative of imagery available in actual operations. No more than one acquisition per biophase were used, and biophases were determined by actual crop calendars. All sites were worked by each of four Analyst-Interpreter/Data Processing Analyst Teams who reviewed the initial processing of each segment and accepted or reworked it for an estimate of the proportion of small grains in the segment. Classification results, acquisitions and classification errors and performance results between CAMS regular and ITS rework are tabulated
High Input Impedance Voltage-Mode Universal Biquadratic Filters With Three Inputs Using Three CCs and Grounding Capacitors
Two current conveyors (CCs) based high input impedance voltage-mode universal biquadratic filters each with three input terminals and one output terminal are presented. The first circuit is composed of three differential voltage current conveyors (DVCCs), two grounded capacitors and four resistors. The second circuit is composed of two DVCCs, one differential difference current conveyor (DDCC), two grounded capacitors and four grounded resistors. The proposed circuits can realize all the standard filter functions, namely, lowpass, bandpass, highpass, notch and allpass filters by the selections of different input voltage terminals. The proposed circuits offer the features of high input impedance, using only grounded capacitors and low active and passive sensitivities. Moreover, the x ports of the DVCCs (or DDCC) in the proposed circuits are connected directly to resistors. This design offers the feature of a direct incorporation of the parasitic resistance at the x terminal of the DVCC (DDCC), Rx, as a part of the main resistance
Bounce-free spherical hydrodynamic implosion
In a bounce-free spherical hydrodynamic implosion, the post-stagnation hot
core plasma does not expand against the imploding flow. Such an implosion
scheme has the advantage of improving the dwell time of the burning fuel,
resulting in a higher fusion burn-up fraction. The existence of bounce-free
spherical implosions is demonstrated by explicitly constructing a family of
self-similar solutions to the spherically symmetric ideal hydrodynamic
equations. When applied to a specific example of plasma liner driven
magneto-inertial fusion, the bounce-free solution is found to produce at least
