Astrometric and Photometric Measurements of Binary Stars with Adaptive Optics: Observations from 2002
The adaptive optics system at the 3.6 m AEOS telescope was used to measure
the astrometry and differential magnitude in I-band of 56 binary stars in 2002.
The astrometric measurements will be of use for future orbital determination,
and the photometric measurements will be of use in estimating the spectral
types of the component stars. Two candidate companions were detected, but
neither is likely to be gravitationally bound. Nine systems had not been
observed in over 40 years. Eight of these are shown to share common proper
motion, while HD 182352 is shown to be a background star. One of the two
components of the HD 114378 (Alpha Com) is shown to be a variable star of
unknown type. In addition, 86 stars were unresolved and the full-width half

Occurrence of Anguilla luzonensis in the Tributaries along the Lagonoy Gulf, Philippines
Anguillids are а valuable fish commodity worldwide. Although Anguilla luzonensis have been abundantly found in the northern Philippines and collected for trade, no available records show that it recruited in the midpart where Lagonoy Gulf, Bicol is situated. In this study, we investigated the occurrence of A. luzonensis in the tributaries along the Lagonoy Gulf, Philippines using molecular tools. Glass eel specimens were collected in 2018–2019 from the Comun river, Albay; the Lagonoy river, Camarines Sur; and the Bato river, Catanduanes. Anguilla luzonensis was first reported in Lagonoy Gulf using molecular analysis. A. luzonensis was the second most abundant species in the Comun and Lagonoy rivers (9.5 and 22.4 %, respectively). Anguilla luzonensis collected from the Comun and Lagonoy rivers did not show a significant difference (FST= 0.00825, p>0.05). Anguilla marmorata was the most dominant species in all tributaries (71.1–98.0 %). In the Comun and Lagonoy rivers, A. bicolor pacifica was the third most abundant species (7.7 and 6.5 %, respectively). In addition, Anguilla celebesensis was only found rarely in the Comun river (0.9 %). This study provides important information for sustainable resource management and effective utilization of the eel species in these regions

Solar Energetic Particles Produced by a Slow Coronal Mass Ejection at ∼0.25 au
We present an analysis of Parker Solar Probe (PSP) IS⊙IS observations of ~30–300 keV n⁻¹ ions on 2018 November 11 when PSP was about 0.25 au from the Sun. Five hours before the onset of a solar energetic particle (SEP) event, a coronal mass ejection (CME) was observed by STEREO-A/COR2, which crossed PSP about a day later. No shock was observed locally at PSP, but the CME may have driven a weak shock earlier. The SEP event was dispersive, with higher energy ions arriving before the lower energy ones. Timing suggests the particles originated at the CME when it was at ~7.4R_⊙. SEP intensities increased gradually from their onset over a few hours, reaching a peak, and then decreased gradually before the CME arrived at PSP. The event was weak, having a very soft energy spectrum (−4 to −5 spectral index). The earliest arriving particles were anisotropic, moving outward from the Sun, but later, the distribution was observed to be more isotropic. We present numerical solutions of the Parker transport equation for the transport of 30–300 keV n⁻¹ ions assuming a source comoving with the CME. Our model agrees well with the observations. The SEP event is consistent with ion acceleration at a weak shock driven briefly by the CME close to the Sun, which later dissipated before arriving at PSP, followed by the transport of ions in the interplanetary magnetic field
Effect of dietary arginine supplementation on reproductive performance of mice with porcine circovirus type 2 infection
The objective of this study was to investigate whether supplemental dietary arginine increases reproductive performance in mice infected with porcine circovirus type2 (PCV2). A total of 50KM female mice were allotted randomly to the arginine group (0.6% arginine + gestation diet) and control group (1.22% alanine + gestation diet). All the mice began to mate after 14 days of treatment with our prepared feed and challenged with PCV2 at the dose of 100 TCID50 (50% tissue culture infection dose, TCID50) after 7 days of pregnancy. Abortion rate, litter number, litter birth weight, the daily weight gain in the first 7 days and survival rate in the first 2 weeks of the neonates were calculated. The serum progesterone, estrogen, nitric oxide and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) on the 14th day of pregnancy were measured. Arginine supplementation decreased the abortion rate of pregnant mice and mortality of neonates caused by PCV2 infection. Further, litter number, litter birth weight and the daily weight gain of neonates increased in the arginine group compared to the control group. Arginine supplementation increased significantly the serum progesterone (P < 0.01) and nitric oxide levels (P < 0.05), but had little effect on the serum estrogen level. SOD activity and T-AOC in the arginine group were significantly higher (P < 0.01) than the control group. In conclusion, arginine supplementation partially reversed the reproductive failure in mice caused by PCV2 infection
Catalytic Thr or ser Residue Modulates Structural Switches in 2-Cys Peroxiredoxin by Distinct Mechanisms
Typical 2-Cys Peroxiredoxins (2-Cys Prxs) reduce hydroperoxides with extraordinary rates due to an active site composed of a catalytic triad, containing a peroxidatic cysteine (C P ), an Arg, and a Thr (or Ser). 2-Cys Prx are involved in processes such as cancer; neurodegeneration and host-pathogen interactions. During catalysis, 2-Cys Prxs switch between decamers and dimers. Analysis of 2-Cys Prx structures in the fully folded (but not locally unfolded) form revealed a highly conserved, non-conventional hydrogen bond (CH-π) between the catalytic triad Thr of a dimer with an aromatic residue of an adjacent dimer. In contrast, structures of 2-Cys Prxs with a Ser in place of the Thr do not display this CH-π bond. Chromatographic and structural data indicate that the Thr (but not Ser) destabilizes the decamer structure in the oxidized state probably through steric hindrance. As a general trend, mutations in a yeast 2-Cys Prx (Tsa1) favoring the dimeric state also displayed a decreased catalytic activity. Remarkably, yeast naturally contains Thr-Ser variants (Tsa1 and Tsa2, respectively) with distinct oligomeric stabilities in their disulfide states
Neutrino emission via the plasma process in a magnetized plasma
Neutrino emission via the plasma process using the vertex formalism for QED
in a strongly magnetized plasma is considered. A new vertex function is
introduced to include the axial vector part of the weak interaction. Our
results are compared with previous calculations, and the effect of the axial
vector coupling on neutrino emission is discussed. The contribution from the
axial vector coupling can be of the same order as or greater than the vector
vector coupling under certain plasma conditions.Comment: 20 pages, 3 figure
Goldstone Fermion Dark Matter
We propose that the fermionic superpartner of a weak-scale Goldstone boson
can be a natural WIMP candidate. The p-wave annihilation of this `Goldstone
fermion' into pairs of Goldstone bosons automatically generates the correct
relic abundance, whereas the XENON100 direct detection bounds are evaded due to
suppressed couplings to the Standard Model. Further, it is able to avoid
indirect detection constraints because the relevant s-wave annihilations are
small. The interactions of the Goldstone supermultiplet can induce non-standard

Exploring T and S parameters in Vector Meson Dominance Models of Strong Electroweak Symmetry Breaking
We revisit the electroweak precision tests for Higgsless models of strong
EWSB. We use the Vector Meson Dominance approach and express S and T via
couplings characterizing vector and axial spin-1 resonances of the strong
sector. These couplings are constrained by the elastic unitarity and by
requiring a good UV behavior of various formfactors. We pay particular
attention to the one-loop contribution of resonances to T (beyond the chiral
log), and to how it can improve the fit. We also make contact with the recent
studies of Conformal Technicolor. We explain why the second Weinberg sum rule
never converges in these models, and formulate a condition necessary for

MESSENGER Observations of a Flux-Transfer-Event Shower at Mercury
Analysis of MESSENGER magnetic field observations taken in the southern lobe of Mercury's magnetotail and the adjacent magnetosheath on 11 April 2011 indicates that a total of 163 flux transfer events (FTEs) occurred within a 25 min interval. Each FTE had a duration of ∼2-3 s and was separated in time from the next by ∼8-10 s. A range of values have been reported at Earth, with mean values near ∼1-2 min and ∼8 min, respectively. We term these intervals of quasiperiodic flux transfer events "FTE showers." The northward and sunward orientation of the interplanetary magnetic field during this shower strongly suggests that the FTEs observed during this event formed just tailward of Mercury's southern magnetic cusp. The point of origin for the shower was confirmed with the Cooling model of FTE motion. Modeling of the individual FTE-type flux ropes in the magnetosheath indicates that these flux ropes had elliptical cross sections, a mean semimajor axis of 0.15RM (where RM is Mercury's radius, or 2440 km), and a mean axial magnetic flux of 1.25 MWb. The lobe magnetic field was relatively constant until the onset of the FTE shower, but thereafter the field magnitude decreased steadily until the spacecraft crossed the magnetopause. This decrease in magnetic field intensity is frequently observed during FTE showers. Such a decrease may be due to the diamagnetism of the new magnetosheath plasma being injected into the tail by the FTEs
