    The controversial Al Jazeera network, with its Arabic and English news websites, is an interesting object for comparative study. This study compares the\ud two language versions in terms of their layouts and the structural features, regional and thematic coverage, and ideological perspective reflected in the headlines of\ud news reports. Content analysis and critical discourse analysis revealed differences between the two versions for all aspects except for thematic coverage, indicating\ud systematic biases in coverage, alongside efforts to present ideological balance. \ud \ud <br />\ud <br />\ud \ud Le réseau Al Jazeera, avec ses sites d’information en arabe et en anglais\ud représente un objet intéressant pour une étude comparative.     Fractal Properties of the Distribution of Earthquake Hypocenters

    We investigate a recent suggestion that the spatial distribution of earthquake hypocenters makes a fractal set with a structure and fractal dimensionality close to those of the backbone of critical percolation clusters, by analyzing four different sets of data for the hypocenter distributions and calculating the dynamical properties of the geometrical distribution such as the spectral dimension dsd_s. We find that the value of dsd_s is consistent with that of the backbone, thus supporting further the identification of the hypocenter distribution as having the structure of the percolation backbone.Comment: 11 pages, LaTeX, HLRZ 68/9

    Complementarity of Semileptonic BB to K2(1430)K_2^*(1430) and K(892)K^*(892) Decays in the Standard Model with Fourth Generation

    The BK2(1430)l+lB\rightarrow K_{2}^{\ast}(1430)l^{+}l^{-} (l=μ,τ)(l=\mu,\tau) decays are analyzed in the Standard Model extended to fourth generation of quarks (SM4). The decay rate, forward-backward asymmetry, lepton polarization asymmetries and the helicity fractions of the final state K2(1430)K^{*}_{2}(1430) meson are obtained using the form factors calculated in the light cone sum rules (LCSR) approach. We have utilized the constraints on different fourth generation parameters obtained from the experimental information on KK, BB and DD decays and from the electroweak precision data to explore their impact on the BK2(1430)l+lB\rightarrow K_{2}^{\ast}(1430)l^{+}l^{-} decay. We find that the values of above mentioned physical observables deviate deviate significantly from their minimal SM predications. We also identify a number of correlations between various observables in BK2(1430)l+lB\rightarrow K_{2}^{\ast}(1430)l^{+}l^{-} and BK(892)l+lB\rightarrow K^{\ast}(892)l^{+}l^{-} decays. Therefore a combined analysis of these two decays will compliment each other in the searches of SM4 effects in flavor physics.Comment: 28 pages, 12 figure

    How an improved implementation of H2 self-shielding influences the formation of massive stars and black holes

    High redshift quasars at z>6 have masses up to ~10910^9 M_\odot. One of the pathways to their formation includes direct collapse of gas, forming a supermassive star, precursor of the black hole seed. The conditions for direct collapse are more easily achievable in metal-free haloes, where atomic hydrogen cooling operates and molecular hydrogen (H2) formation is inhibited by a strong external UV flux. Above a certain value of UV flux (J_crit), the gas in a halo collapses isothermally at ~10410^4 K and provides the conditions for supermassive star formation. However, H2 can self-shield, reducing the effect of photodissociation. So far, most numerical studies used the local Jeans length to calculate the column densities for self-shielding. We implement an improved method for the determination of column densities in 3D simulations and analyse its effect on the value of J_crit. This new method captures the gas geometry and velocity field and enables us to properly determine the direction-dependent self-shielding factor of H2 against photodissociating radiation. We find a value of J_crit that is a factor of two smaller than with the Jeans approach (~2000 J_21 vs. ~4000 J_21). The main reason for this difference is the strong directional dependence of the H2 column density. With this lower value of J_crit, the number of haloes exposed to a flux >J_crit is larger by more than an order of magnitude compared to previous studies. This may translate into a similar enhancement in the predicted number density of black hole seeds.Comment: 14 pages, 12 figures, published in MNRA

By understanding Pancasila through historical understanding, this paper concludes that Pancasila becomes a universal and comprehensive state ideology that contains hablumminallah, hablumminannas, and hablum minal alam to reach the goal of rahmatan lil alamin. As a foundation of philosophy, Pancasila obtains a source of value in the context of the dynamic journey of cultural history of the nation. The establishment of the source of value embodied in the national philosophy system has been going on in a long history. The existence of Pancasila in law is a milestone of achievement in a circle of the state of law. Conversely, the absence of Pancasila will give birth to legal problems and the creation of unstructured legal construction

Berkaitan dengan pandangan aliran hukum positivisme yang mengedepankan pada prinsip hukum itu ada apabila di wujudkan dalam undang-undang, Hukum itu di buat oleh penguasa, selain itu hukum bersifat memaksa. Dalam aliran hukum positivisme adanya pemisahan antara hukum dengan moral. Selain itu peraturan hukum keseluruhannya diturunkan dari norma dasar yang berada di puncak priamida, dan semakin ke bawah semakin beragam dalam artian hukum itu berjenjang. Berkaitan dengan ini jika dikaitkan dalam pembentukan peraturan Perundang-undangan di Indonesia jelaslah bahwa aliran ini diterapkan
