Application of Cultural–Historical Analysis in Child Clinical Psychology

The article presents summarized results of qualitative studies exploring child development in norm and pathology; studies were conducted within the framework of cultural–historical approach developed by L.S. Vygotsky and A.R. Luria and aimed at further methodological elaboration of the approach. The article demonstrates that such research needs to be multidimensional and to include multilevel analysis; it stresses on the importance of analyzing developmental norms in the context of certain social groups, subcultures, etc. The article explores shaping of developmental risks in certain cultural settings and insists on the significance of understanding developmental deviations in the context of normative developmental matrix approved by this social group. The conducted study demonstrates how this method of assessment allows to evaluate structural peculiarities and inner psychodynamics of developmental deviations more precisely within the reconstructed developmental matrix. Such data structure describing child development in certain social group allows to organize correction of development in a systematic manner as well as to design optimal organization of development. Щорічно в Сумській області, як і всій Україні, реєструються нові випадки інфікування ВІЛ та захворюваності на СНІД. Масштаби епідемії продовжують зростати, випереджаючи заходи по її профілактиці. The Lorentz force in atmospheres of CP stars: 56 Arietis

The presence of electric currents in the atmospheres of magnetic chemically peculiar (mCP) stars could bring important theoretical constrains about the nature and evolution of magnetic field in these stars. The Lorentz force, which results from the interaction between the magnetic field and the induced currents, modifies the atmospheric structure and induces characteristic rotational variability of pressure-sensitive spectroscopic features, that can be analysed using phase-resolved spectroscopic observations. In this work we continue the presentation of results of the magnetic pressure studies in mCP stars focusing on the high-resolution spectroscopic observations of Bp star 56Ari. We have detected a significant variability of the Halpha, Hbeta, and Hgamma spectral lines during full rotation cycle of the star. Then these observations are interpreted in the framework of the model atmosphere analysis, which accounts for the Lorentz force effects. We used the LLmodels stellar model atmosphere code for the calculation of the magnetic pressure effects in the atmosphere of 56Ari taking into account realistic chemistry of the star and accurate computations of the microscopic plasma properties. The Synth3 code was employed to simulate phase-resolved variability of Balmer lines. We demonstrate that the model with the outward-directed Lorentz force in the dipole+quadrupole configuration is likely to reproduce the observed hydrogen lines variation. These results present strong evidences for the presence of non-zero global electric currents in the atmosphere of this early-type magnetic star.Comment: Accepted by A&A, 9 pages, 7 figures, 2 table

Examining the heritage of the artists belonging to “MUR” through the prism of receptive aesthetics, the author proposes to study their works as textual representations of the “message function” intensifi ed by the existential experience of a borderline situation which had been gained by the European people during the World War II. With reference to passeism interpreted by L.Gumilev as “a kind of succession to the ancestors”, the author introduces the notion of individual passionarism and thereby treats the artists in exile as bearers of passionarism who entrusted themselves with non-literary tasks.Розглядаючи діяльність митців МУРу в аспекті “рецептивної естетики”, авторка наголошує на можливості вивчення творчості мурівців із погляду реалізації в ній “функції послання”, посиленої екзистенцій ним переживанням межової ситуації, у якій опинилася європейська людина після закінчення Другої світової війни. Звертаючись до ідеї Л.Гумільова про пасеїзм як “продовження лінії предків”, авторка статті апелює до поняття індивідуальної пасіонарності та розглядає митців, що опинилися за межами батьківщини, як носіїв пасіонарності, котрі поклали на себе почасти “нелітературні завдання”

Days of Architectural Heritage in Yekaterinburg

On 12-14 October the Museum of Architecture and Design of the Ural State University of Architecture and Art (USUAA) held the regional festival “Days of Architectural Heritage. Mental development of children who survived mass disasters: from consequences studying to development designing on the basis of cultural and historical analysis

Background. The topic of the psychological consequences of mass disasters for children and adolescents (victims of natural and man-made disasters, military conflicts, terrorism), and also the corresponding risks, threats to their mental development is insufficiently covered in modern psychology. Difficulties in carrying out research cause their quite a small number in relation to the children’s population. The Objective of the analytical theoretical research is 1. to study the general state of the issue and the most discussed modern models of experiencing mass disasters and its impact on the psychological well-being of children and adolescents who are victims and witnesses of mass natural cataclysms, socio-anthropogenic and technogenic catastrophes; 2. to conduct cultural and historical analysis of the issue; 3. to handle central discussion issues regarding the prevention of destructive psychological reactions in the younger generation. Progress Report. In the theoretical and analytical research, an array of ideas about the psychological consequences of mass disasters for the younger generation is consistently considered from the early historic periods up to modern days. A critical analysis of the main methodologies that lie in the basis of most modern research is presented, and finally, the paper considers the possibilities of systematic cultural and historical analysis in the framework of the issue stated in the title, including the prevention of destructive psychological reactions. Research Results. The analysis has revealed the partiality and diversity of research models, the often inconsistent conclusions drawn on the basis of their research development; discussion on issues of preventive intervention. Conclusion. The integrative possibilities of cultural and historical analysis are shown, including the methodology of the research carried out earlier, the possibilities of designing preventive measures that increase the psychological stability of children and adolescents to the traumatic consequences of extreme situations. The essence of the proposed approach is the cultural and historical understanding of internal and external causes and mechanisms of various posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the nature of care and work with them, and also in the possibilities of diagnosing «weaknesses», premises for the development of such disorders in the conditions of a society
