    Building anonymised database samples

Dissertação para obtenção do Grau de Mestre em Engenharia InformáticaIn this work we propose Anonym Database Sampler (ADS), a flexible and modular system capable of extracting an anonymised, consistent and representative sample from a relational database. ADS was envisioned for use in testing and development environments. To this end, a sample specification input is requested from the user, that is used by ADS’s sampling engine to perform a stratified random sample. Afterwards a First-choice hill climbing algorithm is applied to the sample, optimising the selected data towards the specified requisites. Finally, if some restrictions are still to be met, tuples and/or keys modifications are performed, ensuring that the final sample fully complies with the initial sample specification. While having a representative and sound database that developers can use in these environments can be a great advantage, we assume that this representativeness does not need to comply with a truly statistical representativity, which would be much harder to obtain. Thereby, ADS samples are not appropriate for any kind of statistical data analysis. After the sample being successfully extracted, due to the sensitivity of the data contained in most organisation databases, a data anonymisation step is performed. The sampled data is consistently enciphered and masked, preventing data privacy breaches that could occur by delivering to developers a database containing some real operational data

The objective of this study was to investigate if female growing pigs spend similar amounts of time exploring a wooden stick as they do exploring enrichment material regardless of its proximity to the feeder. Forty-eight pigs aged 18 to 26 weeks allocated to 16 pens with three pigs per pen were studied. Fifty percent of the pens had a wooden stick beside the feeder, and the rest had a similar stick opposite to the feeder. Two observers assessed the pigs by means of scan and focal sampling. The pigs spent more time (p < .0001) exploring the wood during the first week than during the rest of the study (10.9% vs 3.6%). The pigs with the wood close to the feeder spent less (p = .0001) time resting (29.9%) and more (p < .0001) time exploring (6.3%) the wood than did pigs with the wood opposite to the feeder (32.4% and 2.5%, respectively). In conclusion, a wooden stick placed close to the feeder was associated with more exploratory behaviorcompared with a similar stick placed opposite to the feeder.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio

This article is about a didactic experience carried out in classes of the Licentiate Degree in Letters -Portuguese and English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and classical languages- belonging to the Federal University of Ceará (UFC). This investigation was carried out by student researchers at the doctoral level, belonging to the Postgraduate Program in Education (PPGE) at UFC, as well as by the professor who supervised the graduate students, also belonging to the PPGE/UFC. Methodological aspect, it was a qualitative research, guided by participant research as a motto of interaction with the locus of investigation and data collection. With everything, it was concluded that it is possible to leave a more rigid didactic aspect, seeking to build an experiential didactic path that works with love, critical awareness in face of reality and seeks the construction of being more in its entirety.O presente artigo versa sobre uma experiência didática realizada em turmas do Curso de Licenciatura em Letras -língua portuguesa e língua inglesa, francesa, alemã, espanhola, italiana e línguas clássicas- pertencente à Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC).
