Building Stronger Channel Relationships Through Information Sharing
Does sharing market information help channel partners to buildstronger mutual relationships? Is low initial trust really animpediment for further relationship development by means ofinformation sharing? How do connections with other competingchannel partners affect the relationship building process? Toaddress these questions, we conducted an experimental study.Our findings show that retailer information sharing helps todevelop higher quality supplier relationships. Interestingly,even if the initial level of trust in the retailer is low, therelationship quality substantially improves. Discovery of the supernova remnant G351.0-5.4
Context. While searching the NRAO VLA Sky Survey (NVSS) for diffuse radio
emission, we have serendipitously discovered extended radio emission close to
the Galactic plane. The radio morphology suggests the presence of a previously
unknown Galactic supernova remnant. An unclassified {\gamma}-ray source
detected by EGRET (3EG J1744-3934) is present in the same location and may stem
from the interaction between high-speed particles escaping the remnant and the
surrounding interstellar medium.
Aims. Our aim is to confirm the presence of a previously unknown supernova
remnant and to determine a possible association with the {\gamma}-ray emission
3EG J1744-3934.
Methods. We have conducted optical and radio follow-ups of the target using
the Dark Energy Camera (DECam) on the Blanco telescope at Cerro Tololo
Inter-American Observatory (CTIO) and the Giant Meterwave Radio Telescope
(GMRT). We then combined these data with archival radio and {\gamma}-ray
observations.
Results. While we detected the extended emission in four different radio
bands (325, 1400, 2417, and 4850 MHz), no optical counterpart has been
identified. Given its morphology and brightness, it is likely that the radio
emission is caused by an old supernova remnant no longer visible in the optical
band. Although an unclassified EGRET source is co-located with the supernova
remnant, Fermi-LAT data do not show a significant {\gamma}-ray excess that is
correlated with the radio emission. However, in the radial distribution of the
{\gamma}-ray events, a spatially extended feature is related with SNR at a
confidence level {\sigma}.
Conclusions. We classify the newly discovered extended emission in the radio
band as the old remnant of a previously unknown Galactic supernova: SNR

Complex diffuse radio emission in the merging PLANCK ESZ cluster Abell 3411
We present VLA radio and Chandra X-ray observations of the merging galaxy
cluster Abell 3411. For the cluster, we find an overall temperature of 6.4 keV
and an X-ray luminosity of 2.8 x 10^{44} erg s^{-1} between 0.5 and 2.0 keV.
The Chandra observation reveals the cluster to be undergoing a merger event.
The VLA observations show the presence of large-scale diffuse emission in the
central region of the cluster, which we classify as a 0.9 Mpc size radio halo.
In addition, a complex region of diffuse, polarized emission is found in the
southeastern outskirts of the cluster, along the projected merger axis of the
system. We classify this region of diffuse emission as a radio relic. The total
extent of this radio relic is 1.9 Mpc. For the combined emission in the cluster
region, we find a radio spectral index of -1.0 \pm 0.1 between 74 MHz and 1.4
GHz. The morphology of the radio relic is peculiar, as the relic is broken up
into five fragments. This suggests that the shock responsible for the relic has
been broken up due to interaction with a large-scale galaxy filament connected
to the cluster or other substructures in the ICM. Alternatively, the complex
morphology reflects the presence of electrons in fossil radio bubbles that are

Exploring the relation between turbulent velocity and density fluctuations in the stratified intracluster medium
Context. The dynamics of the intracluster medium (ICM) is affected by turbulence driven by several processes, such as mergers, accretion and feedback from active galactic nuclei. Aims. X-ray surface brightness fluctuations have been used to constrain turbulence in galaxy clusters. Here, we use simulations to further investigate the relation between gas density and turbulent velocity fluctuations, with a focus on the effect of the stratification of the ICM. Methods. In this work, we studied the turbulence driven by hierarchical accretion by analysing a sample of galaxy clusters simulated with the cosmological code ENZO. We used a fixed scale filtering approach to disentangle laminar from turbulent flows. Results. In dynamically perturbed galaxy clusters, we found a relation between the root mean square of density and velocity fluctuations, albeit with a different slope than previously reported. The Richardson number is a parameter that represents the ratio between turbulence and buoyancy, and we found that this variable has a strong dependence on the filtering scale. However, we could not detect any strong relation between the Richardson number and the logarithmic density fluctuations, in contrast to results by recent and more idealised simulations. In particular, we find a strong effect from radial accretion, which appears to be the main driver for the gas fluctuations. The ubiquitous radial bias in the dynamics of the ICM suggests that homogeneity and isotropy are not always valid assumptions, even if the turbulent spectra follow Kolmogorov's scaling. Finally, we find that the slope of the velocity and density spectra are independent of cluster-centric radii
Organic and conventional tomato cropping systems.
Among several alternative agricultural systems have been developed, organic agriculture has deserved increasing interest from. The objective of this paper was comparing both organic (OS) and conventional (CS) tomato cropping systems for varieties Débora and Santa Clara, through an interdisciplinary study. The experiment was set up in a randomized blocks design with six replicates, in a dystrophic Ultisol plots measuring 25 ´ 17 m. Cropping procedures followed by either local conventional or organic growers practices recommendations. Fertilization in the OS was done with organic compost, single superphosphate, dolomitic limes (5L, 60 g, and 60 g per pit), and sprayed twice a week with biofertilizer. Fertilization in the CS was done with 200 g 4-14-8 (NPK) per pit and, after planting, 30 g N, 33 g K and 10.5 g P per pit; from 52 days after planting forth, plants were sprayed once a week with foliar fertilizer. In the CS, a blend of insecticides, fungicides and miticides was sprayed twice a week, after planting. In the OS, extracts of black pepper, garlic, and Eucalyptus; Bordeaux mixture, and biofertilizer, were applied twice a week to control diseases and pests. Tomato spotted wilt was the most important disease in the OS, resulting in smaller plant development, number of flower clusters and yield. In the CS, the disease was kept under control, and the population of thrips, the virus vector, occurred at lower levels than in the OS. Variety Santa Clara presented greater incidence of the viral disease, and for this reason had a poorer performance than 'Débora', especially in the OS. Occurrence of Liriomyza spp. was significantly smaller in the OS, possibly because of the greater frequency of Chrysoperla. The CS had smaller incidence of leaf spots caused by Septoria lycopersici and Xanthomonas vesicatoria. However, early blight and fruit rot caused by Alternaria solani occurred in larger numbers. No differences were observed with regard to the communities of fungi and bacteria in the phylloplane, and to the occurrence of weeds
Diffusive Evolution of Stable and Metastable Phases II: Theory of Non-Equilibrium Behaviour in Colloid-Polymer Mixtures
By analytically solving some simple models of phase-ordering kinetics, we
suggest a mechanism for the onset of non-equilibrium behaviour in
colloid-polymer mixtures. These mixtures can function as models of atomic
systems; their physics therefore impinges on many areas of thermodynamics and
phase-ordering. An exact solution is found for the motion of a single, planar
interface separating a growing phase of uniform high density from a
supersaturated low density phase, whose diffusive depletion drives the
interfacial motion. In addition, an approximate solution is found for the
one-dimensional evolution of two interfaces, separated by a slab of a
metastable phase at intermediate density. The theory predicts a critical
supersaturation of the low-density phase, above which the two interfaces become
unbound and the metastable phase grows ad infinitum. The growth of the stable

Hepatic lipase gene expression is transiently induced by gonadotropic hormones in rat ovaries
Hepatic lipase (HL) gene expression was studied in rat ovaries. A transcript lacking exons 1 and 2 could be detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in the ovaries of mature cyclic females and of immature rats treated with pregnant mare serum followed by human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) to induce superovulation. By competitive RT-PCR the HL transcript was quantified. Low levels of HL mRNA were detected in ovaries of mature cyclic females and of immature rats. During superovulation HL mRNA was several fold higher than in mature cyclic rats and transiently increased to a maximum at 2 days after hCG treatment. Pulse-labelling of ovarian cells and ovarian slices with [35S]methionine followed by immunoprecipitation with polyclonal anti-HL IgGs showed de novo synthesis of a 47 kDa HL-related protein. Expression of the protein was transiently induced by gonadotropins with a peak at 2 days after hCG treatment. Induction of liver-type lipase activity occurred only after HL mRNA and synthesis of the HL-related protein had returned to pre-stimulatory levels. We conclude that in rat ovaries the HL gene is expressed into a variant mRNA and a 47 kDa protein. The expression of the HL gene in ovaries is inducible and precedes the expression of the mature, enzymatically active liver-type lipase
Transfusion practice in the bleeding critically ill:An international online survey-The TRACE-2 survey
Background: Transfusion is very common in the intensive care unit (ICU), but practice is highly variable, as has recently been shown in non-bleeding critically ill patients practices survey. Bleeding patients in ICU require different blood products across a range of specific patient categories. We hypothesize that a large variety in transfusion practice exists in bleeding patients. Study design and methods: An international online survey was performed among physicians working in the ICU. Transfusion practice in massively and non-massively bleeding patients was examined, including transfusion ratios, thresholds, and the presence of transfusion guidelines. Results: Six hundred eleven respondents filled in the survey of which 401 could be analyzed, representing 64 countries. Among the respondents, 52% had a massive transfusion protocol (MTP) available at their ICU. In massively bleeding patients, 46% of the respondents used fixed transfusion component ratios. Of those who used fixed blood ratios, the 1:1:1 ratio (red blood cell [RBC] concentrates: plasma: platelet concentrates) was most commonly used (33%). The presence of an MTP was associated with a more frequent use of fixed ratios (p <.001). For RBC transfusion in the general non-massively bleeding ICU population, a hemoglobin (Hb) threshold of 7.0[7.0–7.3] g/dl was reported. In the general ICU population, a platelet count threshold of 50[26–50] × 109/L was applied. Discussion: Half of the centers had no massive transfusion protocol available. Transfusion practice in massively bleeding critically ill patients is highly variable and driven by the presence of an MTP. Morphology of radio relics-II. Properties of polarized emission
Radio relics are diffuse radio sources in galaxy clusters that are associated with merger shock waves. Detailed observations of radio relics in total intensity and in polarization show complex structures on kiloparsec scales. The relation between the observed features and the underlying morphology of the magnetic field is not clear. Using 3D magneto-hydrodynamical simulations, we study the polarized emission produced by a shock wave that propagates through a turbulent medium that resembles the intracluster medium. We model the polarized synchrotron emission on the basis of diffusive shock acceleration of cosmic ray electrons. We find that the synchrotron emission produced in a shocked turbulent medium can reproduce some of the observed features in radio relics. Shock compression can give rise to a high polarization fraction at the shock front and a partial alignment of the polarization E-vectors with the shock normal. Our work confirms that radio relics can also be formed in an environment with a tangled magnetic field. We also discuss the effect of Faraday rotation intrinsic to the source, and how our results depend on the angular resolution of observations
