One Belt, One Road : new framework for international relations?
Since 2013 "One Belt, One Road" (OBOR, also "Belt and Road Initiative") has been one of the most commonly used terms in public discourse regarding Chinese foreign policy. This show the importance of the initiative to the Chinese leaders, particular president Xi Jinping. The enterprise consists of two parts: The Silk Road Economic Belt and The 21st-century Maritime Silk Road. The article aims to consider the future development of the project. The analysis of Chinese documents, statements of political leaders, and expansion of the project from 2013 to mid-2017 was employed in order to assess possible outcomes of the policy. The results of the study lead to three conclusions. Firstly, OBOR is becoming an umbrella term for different regional development strategies across Eurasia, Africa and perhaps beyond. Those strategies include many aspects, ranging from economy, through security, science to environmental protection. Secondly, OBOR became the cognitive framework, a paradigm, for international relations - the way that people perceive them. Thirdly, the introduction of the initiative may be the beginning of China in the role of architect of new global institutions and rules. However, the rapid expansion of OBOR, both in term of quantity of participants as well as various aspects of cooperation, may lead to ineffectiveness of the initiative
Exploring Response Tokens in Irish English - A Multidisciplinary Approach:Integrating Variational Pragmatics, Sociolinguistics and Corpus Linguistics?
Schneider & Barron (2008) discuss the effect of macro-social factors such as region, ethnic background, age, social status and gender on intra-lingual pragmatic conventions, and state that, to date, they have received comparatively little attention in the study of pragmatics. This paper chooses two macro-social factors, age and gender, and focuses on how they impact on the use of response tokens in Irish English. Not only does the paper shed light on the use of variational pragmatics as a framework for corpus-based studies but it also brings together research on sociolinguistics and corpus linguistics, which has, to-date, been scarce (Baker 2010). The paper reveals the importance of avoiding the exploration of sociolinguistic variables in isolation and concludes by highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary research and the merits of fine-grained sociolinguistic investigations using small corpora.</jats:p
Exploring the construction of the Irish Mammy in ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’:Making and breaking the stereotype
This paper explores how the cultural concept of the Irish Mammy is portrayed in the popular television comedy series \u27Mrs Brown\u27s Boys\u27. Considering the historicity and cultural aspects surrounding essential views of Irishness that have shaped the archetype of the stereotype, we draw on a corpus of (semi) scripted fictional interaction taken from the series. Using a Corpus Assisted Discourse Studies (CADS) approach to explore linguistic patterning surrounding the use of key lexical markers (e.g. Mammy), we investigate what they reveal about how the concept is represented, (de) constructed, and negotiated. The paper discusses the construction and deconstruction of the stereotype and the extent to which it draws on shared knowledge to reflect and navigate particular cultural values and concerns (Hall 1997; Hall et al. 2013). It views the deconstruction, in particular, as a way of challenging the traditional stereotype, in light of societal change, to provide a more layered, realistic and multi-faceted insight into the identities of the Irish Mammy figure within the fictional context of Mrs Brown\u27s Boys
Stężenie fibrogenu i D-dimerów u chorych z nadczynnością tarczycy przed i po leczeniu 131I
Background: Various abnormalities of haemostasis have been described in patients with hyperthyroidism. The results of different studies
point to the underlying thyroid disease, especially severity of hyperthyroidism and autoimmune processes, as important factors contributing
to coagulation-fibrinolytic balance. The objective of this study was to investigate the association between hyperthyroidism (concerning
severity of thyroid dysfunction and anti-thyroid perioxidase antibodies level) and plasma fibrinogen and D-dimers levels before and after
radioiodine therapy.
Material and methods: The study included 35 non-smoking, postmenopausal women, aged 51–69, with subclinical or overt hyperthyroidism
treated with radioiodine. Analysis comprised serum TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), fT4 (free thyroxine), fT3 (free triiodothyronine),
TPO antibodies (anti-thyroid perioxidase) levels, and plasma D-dimers and fibrinogen levels before and 12-16 weeks and 24–28 weeks
after radioiodine therapy.
Results: Elevated fibrinogen (3.82 g/L ± 0.75, reference range 2–4.5 g/L) and D-dimers (674.26 ng/mL ± 652.71, reference range 70–490
ng/mL) levels were observed in subjects with hyperthyroidism. They decreased after radioiodine therapy. A negative correlation between
plasma fibrinogen and D-dimers levels and anti-thyroid perioxidase antibodies level was found. TSH, fT4 and fT3 correlated with D-dimers
level in overt hyperthyroidism.
Conclusions: Hyperthyroidism is associated with a tendency toward hypercoagulation and hyperfibrinolysis. The changes observed in
plasma fibrinogen and D-dimers levels are reversible. Fibrinogen level decreases within reference range and D-dimers level decreases
almost to the upper reference range. They depend on severity and autoimmunity of the underlying thyroid disease and may be modified
by restoring euthyroidism.
Wyniki: U kobiet z nadczynnością tarczycy obserwowano podwyższone stężenie fibrynogenu (3,82 g/L ± 0,75, norma 2–4,5 g/L) i D-dimerów
(674,26 ng/mL ± 652,71, norma 70–490 ng/mL), które obniżały się po leczeniu 131I. Stwierdzono ujemną korelację pomiędzy stężeniem
fibrynogenu i D-dimerów a stężeniem przeciwciał anty-TPO. U pacjentek z jawną klinicznie nadczynnością tarczycy uzyskano dodatnią
korelację pomiędzy stężeniem TSH, fT4, fT3 a stężeniem D-dimerów.
Wnioski: Nadczynność tarczycy wiąże się z większą skłonnością do koagulacji i fibrynolizy. Stężenie fibrynogenu zmniejsza się w zakresie
wartości referencyjnych, natomiast D-dimerów zmniejszając się, osiąga górny zakres wartości referencyjnych. Zmiany obserwowane

wojna w SyriiAs a result of the growing status of the People’s Republic of China in the international arena, the self-interest and principles of the foreign policy of this state are changing. In only a few regions of the world, this transformation is as visible as in the Middle East. In the 21st century, China’s engagement in this area was growing dynamically due to three processes: development of the Chinese economy, Beijing’s increasing great-power ambitions and rising instability after the outbreak of the Arab Spring. Strategic goals, which are results of those processes, includes a search for natural
resources, promotion of own international initiatives among nations from the region and attempt to resolve local security issues. Nevertheless, growing engagement causes dilemmas, which China has not encounter beforehand. The most important of them is maintaining neutrality in case of conflict between diff erent partners.

Selecting cadres: former members of the CCYL in the 19th Central Committee of CPC
This chapter examines the role of Chinese Communist Youth League (CCYL) as
breeding ground for crucial political leaders in China. Author shows the share of former
affiliates of Central Committees CCYL in the 19th Central Committee of Communist
Party of China (CC CPC) and compares with data from previous CCs. Analysis
points out an insignificant correlation between engagement in CCYL and promotion
into the CPC structures which shows the importance of the official youth organization
of the CPC in the process of selecting the most powerful cadres of the party is

Rocznice urodzin weteranów Komunistycznej Partii Chin w polityce wewnętrznej Chińskiej Republiki Ludowej
W artykule przeanalizowano funkcje, jakie pełnią w Chinach uroczystości upamiętniające urodziny byłych liderów Komunistycznej Partii Chin. Za pomocą analizy treści ofi cjalnych przemówień oraz studium przypadku przebadano cztery uroczystości – 120. rocznicę urodzin Mao Zedonga oraz 100. rocznice urodzin Xi Zhongxuna, Hu Yaobanga oraz Liu Huaqinga. Podstawę teoretyczną stanowiła koncepcja pamięci kolektywnej, którą opracował Maurice Halbwachs. Wyniki wskazują na pełnienie funkcji legitymizacyjnej tych uroczystości w dwóch aspektach. Legitymizacji władzy partii w Chinach oraz Xi Jinpinga w partii
