Use of Complete-feed Diets RAMPâą and Test Starter for Receiving Cattle
Performance of newly arrived 576 lb steer calves, fed two complete feeds or a control ration was evaluated. Treatment diets were fed for 30 or 31 days and includeda control receiving diet consisting of alfalfa hay, Sweet BranÂź , dry-rolled corn, and supplement or one of two complete feeds: RAMP and Test Starter which contained a high level of Sweet Bran and a minimal amount of forage. RAMP increased ADG when compared with the control diet. Cattle fed Test Starter had similar performance to the control receiving diet
Copper (I) SNS Pincer Complexes: Impact of Ligand Design and Solvent Coordination on Conformer Interconversion from Spectroscopic and Computational Studies
The syntheses and detailed characterizations (X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, infrared spectroscopy, electrospray mass spectrometry, and elemental analyses) of two new Cu(I) pincer complexes are reported. The pincer ligand coordinates through one nitrogen and two sulfur donor atoms and is based on bis-imidazole or bis-triazole precursors. These tridentate SNS ligands incorporate pyridine and thione-substituted imidazole or triazole functionalities with connecting methylene units that provide flexibility to the ligand backbone and enable high bite-angle binding. Variable temperature 1H NMR analysis of these complexes and of a similar zinc(II) SNS system shows that all are fluxional in solution and permits the determination of ÎGexp⥠and ÎSexpâĄ. DFT calculations are used to model the fluxionality of these complexes and indicate that a coordinating solvent molecule can promote hemilability of the SNS ligand by lowering the energy barrier involved in the partial rotation of the methylene units
Same-Day Physical Therapy Consults in an Outpatient Neuromuscular Disease Physician Clinic
Background: Team-based care has been shown to offer more comprehensive benefits to patients when compared to standard physician-based care alone in clinics for chronic conditions. However, apart from grant-funded multidisciplinary clinics, there are no reports on the usage of same-day physical therapy (PT) consults within a daily outpatient neuromuscular disease (NMD) physician clinic.
Objective: To determine the impact of same-day PT consults at the University of Utahâs outpatient Clinical Neurosciences Center.
Design: A qualitative assessment and survey of patient satisfaction.
Methods: An eight question Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act-compliant patient satisfaction survey using a 5-point Likert scale was administered. Demographic data and Press-Ganey Provider Satisfaction surveys were retrospectively collected from electronic medical records for patients receiving same-day PT encounters in the neuromuscular division over 1 year.
Results: Mean (standard deviation) age was 54.22 (19.81) years for 134 patient encounters, median age was 60 years, with 76 male (57%) and 58 female (43%) patients. Mean Likert score for 61 self-reported patient satisfaction surveys for same-day PT consults was 4.87 (97.4%). Press-Ganey Provider Satisfaction scores improved from 89.9% (N=287) for the year prior to 90.8% (N=320) for the corresponding year (P=0.427). A total of 46 (75.4%) patients have either never before received PT care or never before received PT care for their NMD, 67.4% of whom were male.
Conclusion: Same-day PT consults in an outpatient NMD physician clinic demonstrated excellent patient satisfaction and improved access to specialty care. This model could potentially be implemented in other academic medical centers to improve access to rehabilitation services for patients with NMD

making an additional ad hoc assumption on the existence of an isobaric pair of
271Bh-271Hs. This assumption could be tested by mass-spectrometric measurements

Radon in Soil Gas Above Bedrock Fracture Sets at the Shepley?s Hill Superfund Site
The Idaho National Laboratory (INL) recently provided technical support for ongoing environmental remediation activities at the Shepleyâs Hill remediation site near Devens, MA (Figure 1). The technical support was requested as follow-on work to an initial screening level radiation survey conducted in 2008. The purpose of the original study was to assess the efficacy of the INL-developed Backpack Sodium Iodide System (BaSIS) for detecting elevated areas of natural radioactivity due to the decay of radon-222 gases emanating from the underlying fracture sets. Although the results from the initial study were mixed, the BaSIS radiation surveys did confirm that exposed bedrock outcrops have higher natural radioactivity than the surficial soils, thus a high potential for detecting elevated levels of radon and/or radon daughter products. (INL 2009) The short count times associated with the BaSIS measurements limited the ability of the system to respond to elevated levels of radioactivity from a subsurface source, in this instance radon gas emanating from fracture sets. Thus, it was postulated that a different methodology be employed to directly detect the radon in the soil gases. The CR-39 particle track detectors were investigated through an extensive literature and technology search. The relatively long deployment or âdetectionâ time of several days, as well as the sensitivity of the measurement and robustness of the detectors made the CR-39 technology promising for deployment at the Shepleyâs Hill site
Preparing aquatic research for an extreme future: call for improved definitions and responsive, multidisciplinary approaches

Bioscience, 72(6), (2022): 508-520, https://doi.org/10.1093/biosci/biac020.Extreme events have increased in frequency globally, with a simultaneous surge in scientific interest about their ecological responses, particularly in sensitive freshwater, coastal, and marine ecosystems. We synthesized observational studies of extreme events in these aquatic ecosystems, finding that many studies do not use consistent definitions of extreme events. Furthermore, many studies do not capture ecological responses across the full spatial scale of the events. In contrast, sampling often extends across longer temporal scales than the event itself, highlighting the usefulness of long-term monitoring. Many ecological studies of extreme events measure biological responses but exclude chemical and physical responses, underscoring the need for integrative and multidisciplinary approaches. To advance extreme event research, we suggest prioritizing pre- and postevent data collection, including leveraging long-term monitoring; making intersite and cross-scale comparisons; adopting novel empirical and statistical approaches; and developing funding streams to support flexible and responsive data collection
'Me and my bump': an interpretative phenomenological analysis of the experiences of pregnancy for vulnerable women
Eight pregnant women, considered to be âvulnerableâ due to exposure to a number of underlying risk factors, participated in semi-structured interviews regarding their experiences of pregnancy and of Mellow Bumps, a 6-week targeted antenatal intervention. Interview transcripts were explored using interpretative phenomenological analysis. The analysis revealed five superordinate themes: pregnancy as a time of reflection; the body being taken over; pregnancy as an emotional rollercoaster; relationships as important; separating identities. Pre- and post-natal attachment theories were found to be useful in interpreting the data. Findings suggest that pregnancy may be ânormalisingâ and provide an important opportunity for building more positive representations of the self. Findings also provide clinical support for the assertion that the attachment relationship begins before birth. The Mellow Bumps intervention was uniformly seen as helpful. It appeared to nurture prenatal attachment relationships, playing a potentially protective role, by helping to establish the foundations for secure motherâinfant relationships in the future. Meeting similar women and engaging in ordinary, supportive conversation during Mellow Bumps seemed to reduce feelings of isolation and stigma. Implications for clinical practice are considered

A Racial/Ethnic Performance Disparity on the Facial Recognition Test
The Facial Recognition Test is a widely used psychometric instrument for assessing visuoperceptual functioning. Only two prior studies have examined the effects of race/ethnicity on this test. Given that the United States has become more culturally diverse since the creation of the test, it is important to re-visit the effects of this demographic variable on performance. Participants were 75 males and 75 females between the ages of 18 and 43 years (M = 21.91, SD = 5.33). Racial/ethnic categories utilized by the U.S. Census Bureau were equally represented. No gender differences were observed. The race/ethnicity main effect was significant. The gender x race/ethnicity interaction was not significant. The data revealed a clear racial/ethnic performance disparity on the Facial Recognition Test
