Physical degrees of freedom in stabilized brane world models
We consider brane world models with interbrane separation stabilized by the
Goldberger-Wise scalar field. For arbitrary background, or vacuum
configurations of the gravitational and scalar fields in such models, we
construct the second variation Lagrangian, study its gauge invariance, find the
corresponding equations of motion and decouple them in a suitable gauge. We
also derive an effective four-dimensional Lagrangian for such models, which
describes the massless graviton, a tower of massive gravitons and a tower of
massive scalars. It is shown that for a special choice of the background
solution the masses of the graviton excitations may be of the order of a few
TeV, the radion mass of the order of 100 GeV, the inverse size of the extra
dimension being tens of GeV. In this case the coupling of the radion to matter
on the negative tension brane is approximately the same as in the unstabilized
model with the same values of the fundamental five-dimensional energy scale and
the interbrane distance.Comment: 17 pages, LaTeX, corrected typos, amended the normalization constants

Form Factors in N=4 Super Yang-Mills and Periodic Wilson Loops
We calculate form factors of half-BPS operators in N=4 super Yang-Mills
theory at tree level and one loop using novel applications of recursion
relations and unitarity. In particular, we determine the expression of the
one-loop form factors with two scalars and an arbitrary number of
positive-helicity gluons. These quantities resemble closely the MHV scattering
amplitudes, including holomorphicity of the tree-level form factor, and the
expansion in terms of two-mass easy box functions of the one-loop result. Next,
we compare our result for these form factors to the calculation of a particular
periodic Wilson loop at one loop, finding agreement. This suggests a novel
duality relating form factors to periodic Wilson loops.Comment: 26 pages, 10 figures. v2: typos fixed, comments adde

D0-D4 system and QCD_{3+1}
We consider a -dimensional QCD model using a dual supergravity
description with a non-extremal - brane background. We calculate the
spectrum of glueball masses and Wilson loops in the background. The mass
spectrum is shown to coincide with one in non-extremal -brane systems, and
an area low of spatial Wilson loops is established. We show that there is a
region that Kaluza-Klein modes of the Euclidean time direction are decoupled
without decoupling glueball masses.Comment: 10 pages, REVTeX; typos correcte
On All-loop Integrands of Scattering Amplitudes in Planar N=4 SYM
We study the relationship between the momentum twistor MHV vertex expansion
of planar amplitudes in N=4 super-Yang-Mills and the all-loop generalization of
the BCFW recursion relations. We demonstrate explicitly in several examples
that the MHV vertex expressions for tree-level amplitudes and loop integrands
satisfy the recursion relations. Furthermore, we introduce a rewriting of the
MHV expansion in terms of sums over non-crossing partitions and show that this
cyclically invariant formula satisfies the recursion relations for all numbers
of legs and all loop orders.Comment: 34 pages, 17 figures; v2: Minor improvements to exposition and

Gauge Theories with Tensors from Branes and Orientifolds
We present brane constructions in Type IIA string theory for N=1
supersymmetric SO and Sp gauge theories with tensor representations using an
orientifold 6-plane. One limit of these set-ups corresponds to N=2 theories
previously constructed by Landsteiner and Lopez, while a different limit yields
N=1 SO or Sp theories with a massless tensor and no superpotential. For the
Sp-type orientifold projection comparison with the field theory moduli space
leads us to postulate two new rules governing the stability of configurations
of D-branes intersecting the orientifold. Lifting one of our configurations to
M-theory by finding the corresponding curves, we re-derive the N=1 dualities
for SO and Sp groups using semi-infinite D4 branes.Comment: Discussion on duality in U(N) with a symmetric or antisymmetric

Tree-Level Formalism
We review two novel techniques used to calculate tree-level scattering
amplitudes efficiently: MHV diagrams, and on-shell recursion relations. For the
MHV diagrams, we consider applications to tree-level amplitudes and focus in
particular on the N=4 supersymmetric formulation. We also briefly describe the
derivation of loop amplitudes using MHV diagrams. For the recursion relations,
after presenting their general proof, we discuss several applications to
massless theories with and without supersymmetry, to theories with massive
particles, and to graviton amplitudes in General Relativity. This article is an

Generating MHV super-vertices in light-cone gauge
We constructe the SYM lagrangian in light-cone gauge using
chiral superfields instead of the standard vector superfield approach and
derive the MHV lagrangian. The canonical transformations of the gauge field and
gaugino fields are summarised by the transformation condition of chiral
superfields. We show that MHV super-vertices can be described
by a formula similar to that of the MHV super-amplitude. In the
discussions we briefly remark on how to derive Nair's formula for
SYM theory directly from light-cone lagrangian.Comment: 25 pages, 7 figures, JHEP3 style; v2: references added, some typos
