Insights into the Electronic Properties of Coumarins: A Comparative Study Synthesis, Characterization, and Theoretical Study of New Peptides Obtained by Opening Reactions of Sulfahydantoins

No full text
International audienceSulfhydantoin from glycine or L-valine is used as a precursor via heterocyclic opening reactions. The operating conditions used during electrophilicity tests influence the reactivity of heterocycles, the best control of the electrophilicity of our molecules, and consider as well as their use as enzyme inhibitors. The regioselectivity of the reactions carried out in various nucleophilic media leads to three new linear products derived from acetamide and butanamide and which are analogous to the peptide structures. The structures of the synthesized products 3-5 have been elucidated and confirmed by the usual spectroscopic methods. A theoretical study based on the DFT/PW6B95 method combined with the basic set 6-311G (2d,p) was carried out to determine the structural and electronic parameters such as the energy parameters, the molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), the natural bonding of orbitals (NBO), non-covalent interactions (NCI) and 1 H NMR. Novel unsymmetrically p-acetoxyphenyl and p-hydroxyphenyl tetrathiafulvalenes: Synthesis, electrochemical properties and electrical conductivity of their charge transfer complexes

884-889Organic molecules such as tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) and its derivatives are important precursors in the design of new conducting, optical and magnetic materials. A new series of unsymmetrically tetrathiafulvalenes have been synthesised. The synthesis of p-acetoxyphenyl tetrathiafulvalenes 5a-d has been carried out by Wittig reaction and their deprotection leads to p-hydroxyphenyl tetrathiafulvalenes 6a-d. The structures have been assigned by 1H NMR spectroscopy and mass spectra. The reducing power of each new precursor has been determined by cyclic voltammetry. Charge transfer complexes of the donors with Tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) have been prepared and characterized. The electrical conductivity of these materials have been measured and discussed

Activated sulfahydantoin as Boc-glycine enolate equivalent: highly diastereoselective alpha-hydroxyalkylation and application to the synthesis of aldopentonate analogues

No full text
International audienceN-Boc-activated sulfahydantoin can be seen as glycine enolate equivalent. It appeared as a convenient starting material for the stereocontrolled preparation of threonine homologues through an alkaline syn aldolization involving a Boc migration. The methdology allowed the one-pot preparation of constrained analogues of polyoxami

Research and innovation (R&I) feature high in both the African Union’s and the European Union’s agenda. While the African Union “Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa 2024” (STISA-2024) places science, technology and innovation at the epicentre of Africa’s socio-economic development and growth, European investments in R&I are seen as a means to help Europe to compete globally and improve the daily lives of people.Under the AU-EU partnership, both continents have also confirmed their commitment to strengthen R&I collaboration and partnership to address common or complementary society challenges. The EU’s main tool to support such collaborative efforts is the Horizon Europe Framework programme which will run over the period 2021-2027. This programme, which builds on the previous R&I framework programmes, also integrates new instruments such as “missions” and “European partnerships” which aim at finding new R&I research funding instruments and innovative ways of collaboration involving all stakeholders (from consumers to industry) as partners. In this context, it will be important to understand how new joint research and innovation (R&I) mechanisms can support research and development activities.Through an online survey, African and European partners were invited to share their experience with LEAPAgri and the lessons learned in order to develop suggestions for a strategy that would promote the partnership forward by evaluating and identifying mechanisms to sustain collaboration and innovation in the FNSSA field. All 24 partners of the LEAP-Agri consortium were asked to share their opinion which is highly valuable since, apart from being partners in the project, most of them also represent national agencies or funding bodies with solid experience in financing FNSSA's R&I activities. The participants shared their own experience in the field, either through LEAP-Agri or other similar co-funded projects such as ERAFRICA. On this basis, they provided inputs regarding the important aspects of collaboration mechanism and ideas on alternative instruments capable of taking the FNSSA R&I partnership to the next level.
