Mini gastric bypass with 4k technology as treatment of morbid obesity in patient with ventriculoperitoneal shunt

    Get PDF
Ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt placement is used to treat idiopathic intracranial pressure. Obesity is a risk factor related to shunt migration, dislodgement, and subsequent failure due to increased intraabdominal pressure. Minigastric bypass consists in both restrictive and malabsorbative mechanisms, and indications to this procedure as an efficient primary and redo procedure are increasing lately. Technology can always improve the surgical act, and 4K vision is spreading in many operating rooms. Laparoscopic approach is subject to continuous change. Ultrahigh definition is the next development in video technology, it delivers fourfold more detail than full high definition resulting in improved fine detail, increased texture, and an almost photographic emulsion of smoothness of the image. New 4K ultrahigh-definition technology might remove the current need for the use of polarised glasses. We present the laparoscopic one anastomosis gastric bypass, done with the new 4K technology, as primary bariatric procedure for morbid obese patient with VP shunt

Gondooroo as an Indigenous Method of Conflict Resolution and Justice Administration

    Get PDF
Oromo as a society, like many African societies, is rich in indigenous institutions of conflict resolution and justice administration. Gondooroo is one of the multitudes of Oromo indigenous institutions that have exclusively been used to settle blood feuds. In spite of its wider utilization and its multi-disciplinary nature, psycho-social analysis of Gondooroo is lacking in literature. With an aim of helping to fill this gap and of maximizing Gondooroo’s potential contributions to conflict resolution, justice administration and peace building, this article offers a psycho-social perspective on Gondooroo. Having analyzed combined data from multiple sources regarding Gondooroo within psychological and social frameworks, the author identifies and highlights six interrelated theses (themes) about the key roles Gondooroo plays in conflict resolution, justice administration and peace building (in cases of homicide). Finally, based on the themes identified and highlighted and other pertinent elaborations and case material, the author theorizes Gondooroo as a vital psycho-social method of conflict resolution, justice administration and peace building and calls for its official recognition and revitalization

Optimization of Blanching Time-Temperature Combination and Pre-Drying Durations for Production of High Quality Potato Chips

    Get PDF
During Experiment I the overall organoleptic acceptability quality (Color, Odor, Crispness, and Taste) of potato chips were studied in relation to pre-frying blanching T°-time combination (70, 75, 80, 85, & 90oc for 2, 3, 4, & 5 minutes). The sensory result showed blanching increase the acceptance of potato chips and helps production of superior quality potato chips. Among the blanching T° -time combinations potato chips from slices blanched at 85oc for 4 minutes got the first rank for color, crispness & odor as well as perceived as superior quality potato chips. During Experiment II the effect of pre-fry drying durations for minimum oil uptake of potato chips during frying was evaluated. During this experiment potato slices blanched at 85oc for 4 minute (optimum blanching T°-time combination obtained from the first experiment) were dried at 75oC for different durations (0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 minutes) and fried. The result revealed a negative linear relationship between pre-fry drying duration and oil uptake percentage by potato chips during frying. Food produced from fruits and cereals processing plants possesses an important natural and valuable material in producing less expensive functional food due to the presence of several bioactive substances. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to investigate the nutritional composition, physicochemical properties, and sensory quality of the control, wheat flour cookies substituted with 20, 30 and 50% mango pulp. The proximate analysis results demonstrated that  the control from 100% from wheat flour (C1), 80% wheat flour with 20% mango pulp (C2), 70% wheat flour with 30% mango pulp (C3) and 50% wheat flour with 50% mango pulp (C4); the moisture contents were 5.49%, 6.81%, 8.37%, 12.41% respectively. The total ash contents for  C1, C2, C3 and C4 were 1.89%, 2.19%, 2.65% and 3.12% respectively. The functional properties values of our products such as water absorption idex values of C1=2.5, C2=2, C3=3.2 and C4=3.5  and water solubility index C1, C2, C3 and C4 were 34.75%, 31.7%, 30.48% and 29.27% respectively. Sensory qualities this product were evaluated in terms of color, flavor, taste, crispness  and acceptability. Generally, the cookies produced from C2 (20%) and C3 (30%)   mango pulp were gave better colour, test and acceptability but there was no significant  difference  with other C1 AND C4 quality attributes such as flovour  then from this  results the cookies which had more acceptable were could be produced.
