This study examines the effect of technological innovation on performance of employees in the Nigerian oil and gas sector, upstream segment. The purpose of the study was to determine if technological innovation was adopted in ODENL plc and the oil and gas sector in Nigeria. Also, if technological innovation has contributed to the performance of employees which in a large extent would yield high organisational productivity. The population of the study used in this study was 124, being the total staff strength of offshore workers ODENL plc, while the sample size was same with the offshore population with the use of complete enumeration method. A mono method approach was used, specifically quantitative method, using a structured questionnaire to generate the primary data. The study used descriptive type of survey design while t-statistics was adopted for hypotheses testing. The study analyzed data collected through the use of SPSS while structural equation modelling (SMART-PLS) was used to predict the influence between each independent variable on all dependent variable constructs. The result of the study revealed that technological innovation has significant effect of (<0.05) on the performance of employee’s oil and gas sector in Nigeria. Specifically, results showed that perceived ease of use on technology contributes more to employee satisfaction while organisational support had the least, perceived usefulness of technology contributes more to employee satisfaction while employee’s commitment had the least, perceived behavioural control contributes more to employee’s productivity while employee’s commitment had the least, and lastly, psychological adoption contributes more to organisational support while employee’s satisfaction had the least. However, the findings depicted that null hypothesis was rejected and there was a significant effect between technological innovation and employee performance

A significant challenge in the Nigerian work environment is the challenge of productivity. This challenge has been attributed to a long-held emphasis on training which is concerned with the immediate benefit of the organisation. This study examined the impact of Monitoring and evaluation of learning and development outcomes on employee productivity. This study measured how far the Nigerian corporate world has adjusted to this trend. The scope of the survey cut across the Nigerian telecommunication companies. Specifically, the objective of the study was to determine how Monitoring and evaluation of learning and development outcomes impact employee productivity variables (employee problem-solving skills, employee effectiveness, employee efficiency, and employee innovation and creativity). The population of the study consists of all employees who are engaged in the operations of the three main mobile service providers in Lagos state which was a total of 359. The sample size of 359 was arrived at using a census approach because the population of all the three firms’ customer service centres and total number of employees of their customer service centres are within the Lagos geographical location. The study adopted the survey research design to generate findings from quantitative data. Results were analysed with structural equation modelling with Path coefficients, and T-statistics used to measure the variables. From the study’s findings, variables measured had a high effect on each other, with Monitoring and evaluation of learning and development outcomes directly and significantly influencing employee productivity. It was recommended that management ought to implement strategies such as bonuses and recognition to encourage active learning among employees in the organisation and must assess the learning requirements of individual employees and cater for their learning needs

There have been notable legislative advancements and improvements in corporate governance codes towards stakeholder rights protection. It identifies faulty philosophical background together with policy misalignment of corporate governance codes and primary corporate law as critical factors undermining efforts to embed responsible corporate behaviour towards safeguarding qualified and legitimate stakeholder interests. It recommends specific amendment provisions which address the ideological defect and aligns corporate governance codes with primary corporate legislations in the countries

It is usually assumed that there are sufficient legislations to regulate the Nigerian business community and combat corporate irresponsibility but that the challenge lies in lackadaisical enforcement by regulators. This article queries this assumption and analyses the CSR regulatory landscape in corporate Nigeria. It depicts bleak pictures of weak regulations, faulty legal transplantation of foreign principles, lackadaisical attitude to enforcement, double operational standards of multinational enterprises (MNEs), and incoherence and policy disparity between CSR regulatory provisions in primary legislations on the one hand and their subsidiary laws on the other hand. It argues that the challenge rather borders on faulty and disjointed legislations grossly undermined by fallacious legal transplantation. In the end, the article sets an agenda for the harmonization of the disjointed CSR framework in highlighted primary and subsidiary legislations in line with best international standards

This study focuses on the effect of culture on the application of corporate governance practices in Nigeria. Corporate governance has been receiving serious attention in emerging markets over the past two decades. But relatively little attention has been given to the study on corporate governance in a country study. The current situations in Nigerian public and private sectors such as the corporate scandal resulting from Lever Brothers Nigeria plc, Siemens, Shell, Halliburton, and Cadbury Nigeria plc, have shown that the issue of fraud, corruption, and corporate scandals cannot be overlooked. Most top management, as this study argues, bring in beliefs acquired from their early childhood into their senior management roles and responsibilities. This study adopts a grounded theory and reports on the effect of culture on the implementation of corporate governance in Nigeria. Based on the interview with 32 staffs, this study identifies the effect of culture that shapes corporate governance and they include abuse of power by top management, weak legal framework, poor recruitment and ineffective control. Although having efficient corporate governance is worth pursuing, this depends on the power of top management, the strength of internal control procedures and the legal framework put in place by management
