This thesis is about the design of a management system in operational control and its application in a factory that produces flour and oil fish based on the British Norma Pass 55 and having as a foundation the basis of TPM and the philosophy of the 5S´s. This work emerges from the necessity of the company, in the searching of improving the management of its process in order to guarantee that all resources produce the expected quality margin of service inside the appropriate economical frame. To do so, a study of the administrative, human and technical factors was made in order to establish the parameters, processes and required aspects to design the management system in operational control. A computing application will standardize this information. The design of this system allowed an increasing result in the capacity of fishing collecting of a 20% having the same cost that it has now. At the same time the stop time of the equipment was reduced and as a result an increase of a 25 % was gotten in the level of the performance of the capture of the fish flour

Bulk depositional fluxes of 7Be and 210Pb in precipitation measured over a period of 16 months (April 2009–July 2010) in Huelva, Spain varied between 5.6 and 186 Bq m−2 month−1 (annual mean: 834 Bq m−2 year−1) and 0.8 and 8.1 Bq m−2 month−1 (annual mean: 59 Bq m−2 year−1), respectively, with the lowest depositional fluxes occurring during dry summer months. Quantitative evaluation of the precipitation-normalized seasonal depositional fluxes of 7Be and 210Pb indicates that the enrichment factor in winter is \u3c 1.0 while in 2010 spring, it is significantly higher than 1, possibly indicating input of air from the stratosphere-troposphere exchange (for 7Be). The specific activities of 7Be and 210Pb varied from 0.03 to 7.42 Bq L−1 (mean = 2.5 Bq L−1) and 0.005 to 1.07 BqL−1 (mean = 0.23 Bq L−1), respectively, with the highest values corresponding to the spring season. The spatial and temporal variations of 7Be and 210Pb in aerosols from three stations are evaluated and compared to their monthly depositional fluxes. The mean depositional velocity of aerosols using 7Be and 210Pb are similar, ∼0.5 cm s−1 and are compared to other published values. This is the first time the fractional amounts of 7Be and 210Pb in monthly bulk precipitation are compared to the fractional amount of precipitation and provides insight on how the amount of precipitation plays a key role on the scavenging of these nuclides. The importance of dry fallout is evaluated for the study site which has direct implications for other areas in the Mediterranean Climate Zone

We describe a new species of the Rhinella acrolopha group (previously Rhamphophryne) from\ud mid-elevations (1800–2500 m) of the Cordillera Occidental of Colombia. It is found exclusively in cloud\ud forest habitats and is not associated with streams or other bodies of water. The species is characterized by\ud possessing eight presacral vertebrae, fusion of the sacrum and urostyle, and nuptial excrescences in adult\ud males, and in lacking conspicuous cranial ornamentation and vocal slits. The most striking characteristic of\ud this species is its middle ear, which lacks a tympanic membrane and annulus but possesses a short stapes that\ud articulates with the palatoquadrate and squamosal in a manner similar to the middle ear of many\ud salamanders. A population of this species in the Serran´ıa de los Paraguas seems to be stable despite drastic\ud declines in many sympatric species.Fieldwork in the Serranía de los Paraguas in 1996 was made possible by H.D. Grant, who provided financial support, and G. Bolívar, who loaned his 434 vehicle, and in 2004 by a grant from the Declining Amphibian Task Force and logistical support from the Fundacion Serraniagua. This study was completed with support from Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico Proc. 307001/2011-3 and Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo Proc. 2012/10000-5. Our fieldwork benefitted from the expertise of F. Castro, P.D. Gutierrez, P. Isaacs, and J.D. ´ Lynch. F. Castro and J.D. Coutilization of glucose and glycerol enhances the production of aromatic compounds in an Escherichia coli strain lacking the phosphoenolpyruvate: carbohydrate phosphotransferase system

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p><it>Escherichia coli </it>strains lacking the phosphoenolpyruvate: carbohydrate phosphotransferase system (PTS) are capable of coutilizing glucose and other carbon sources due to the absence of catabolite repression by glucose. In these strains, the lack of this important regulatory and transport system allows the coexistence of glycolytic and gluconeogenic pathways. Strains lacking PTS have been constructed with the goal of canalizing part of the phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) not consumed in glucose transport to the aromatic pathway. The deletion of the <it>ptsHIcrr </it>operon inactivates PTS causing poor growth on this sugar; nonetheless, fast growing mutants on glucose have been isolated (PB12 strain). However, there are no reported studies concerning the growth potential of a PTS- strain in mixtures of different carbon sources to enhance the production of aromatics compounds.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>PB12 strain is capable of coutilizing mixtures of glucose-arabinose, glucose-gluconate and glucose-glycerol. This capacity increases its specific growth rate (μ) given that this strain metabolizes more moles of carbon source per unit time. The presence of plasmids pRW300<it>aroG</it><it>fbr </it>and pCL<it>tktA </it>reduces the μ of strain PB12 in all mixtures of carbon sources, but enhances the productivity and yield of aromatic compounds, especially in the glucose-glycerol mixture, as compared to glucose or glycerol cultures. No acetate was detected in the glycerol and the glucose-glycerol batch fermentations.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Due to the lack of catabolite repression, PB12 strain carrying multicopy plasmids containing <it>tktA </it>and <it>aroG</it><it>fbr </it>genes is capable of coutilizing glucose and other carbon sources; this capacity, reduces its μ but increases the production of aromatic compounds.</p

Construyendo Cadenas de Valor Incluyentes: una comparación de dos casos de biocomercio en Suramérica

    Get PDF

    Mesoscopic rings with Spin-Orbit interactions

A didactic description of charge and spin equilibrium currents on mesoscopic rings in the presence of Spin-Orbit interaction is presented. Emphasis is made on the non trivial construction of the correct Hamiltonian in polar coordinates, the calculation of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions and the symmetries of the ground state properties. Spin currents are derived following an intuitive definition and then a more thorough derivation is built upon the canonical Lagrangian formulation that emphasizes the SU(2) gauge structure of the transport problem of spin 1/2 fermions in spin-orbit active media. The quantization conditions that follow from the constraint of single-valued Pauli spinors are also discussed. The targeted students are those of a graduate Condensed Matter Physics course

Perfect spin filtering device through a Mach Zehnder interferometer in GaAs/AlGaAs electron gas

Spin filtering through quantum spin interference is addressed exactly, in two dimensions, in a medium that has both Rashba and Dresselhaus spin-orbit couplings and an applied external magnetic field. The problem is addressed from the fully non-Abelian Gauge formulation. We propose an experimentally feasible electronic Mach Zehnder Interferometer and solve for the perfect spin filtering conditions. We find two broad solutions, one where filtering is achieved in the original incoming basis, that is purely a non-Abelian solution, and the other where one needs a tilted axis to observe the polarized output spinor. The latter solution is well approximated by an Abelianized approximation. Both solutions apply for arbitrary incoming polarization, and are only limited by the randomness of the incoming spinor state.Comment: published version, one figure adde
