    Polarization effects in the reaction e++eρ++ρe^++e^-\to \rho^+ +\rho^- and determination of the ρ\rho - meson form factors in the time--like region

    The electron positron annihilation reaction into four pion production has been studied, through the channel e++eρˉ+ρe^++e^-\to \bar \rho+\rho . The differential (and total) cross sections and various polarization observables for this reaction have been calculated in terms of the electromagnetic form factors of the corresponding γρρ\gamma^*\rho\rho current. The elements of the spin--density matrix of the ρ\rho -meson were also calculated. Numerical estimations have been done, with the help of phenomenological form factors obtained in the space--like region of the momentum transfer squared and analytically extended to the time-like region.Comment: 19 pages, 2 figures, to appear in Phys Rev

    Petroleum-related hydrocarbons in deep and subsurface sediments from South-Western Barents Sea

    Subsurface sediments from a pockmark area in South-Western Barents Sea have been earlier found to contain elevated levels of petroleum-related polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. This work describes a comprehensive analysis of various biomarkers, including the highly source-specific hopanes, in a 4.5 m long gravity core from the same area, together with subsurface sediment samples from other areas in the region without pockmarks present (“background samples”). A clear difference between the pockmark gravity core and the background sediment cores was found, both with regard to genesis and the level of transformation of organic matter. A number of indicator parameters, such as methylphenanthrene index (MPI-1), point towards a significantly higher maturity of hydrocarbons in the pockmark core throughout its length as compared to the other sampled locations. Higher contents of microbial hopanoids (hopenes) may indicate the former presence of petroleum. These findings confirm the hypothesis of a natural hydrocarbon source in the deeper strata present in the studied location with pockmarks

The generality of the accompanying tasks, solutions and synergy of their implementation are declared in the system of priorities of Total Quality Management (TQM) and modern innovation and communication technologies on the example of large, structurally heterogeneous, logistically complex infrastructural systems of the transport industry. The authors set a goal to show why these provisions acquire special significance precisely for infrastructure transport and logistics structures, where the price of risk, error, insufficient protection of information is too great.     Radiative corrections to polarization observables in elastic electron-deuteron scattering in leptonic variables

    The model--independent QED radiative corrections to polarization observables in elastic scattering of unpolarized and longitudinally--polarized electron beam by the deuteron target have been calculated in leptonic variables. The experimental setup when the deuteron target is arbitrarily polarized is considered and the procedure for applying derived results to the vector or tensor polarization of the recoil deuteron is discussed. The basis of the calculations consists of the account for all essential Feynman diagrams which results in the form of the Drell-Yan representation for the cross-section and use of the covariant parametrization of the deuteron polarization state. The numerical estimates of the radiative corrections are given for the case when event selection allows the undetected particles (photons and electron-positron pairs) and the restriction on the lost invariant mass is used.Comment: 43 pages,3 figures.     ASSOCIATION OF CLINICAL AND GENETIC FACTORS WITH LEFT VENTRICLE HYPERTROPHY IN ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION

    Aim. To evaluate association of clinical and genetic factors with left ventricle hypertrophy (LVH) in patients with arterial hypertension (HT).Materials and methods. 672 patients with HT were involved, aged 50,6 y.o. in average, men 67%. Laboratory assays, ECG, echocardiography were performed. Control group included 184 healthy persons. Genotyping with single-nucleotide substitutions of the endothelial NO synthase (eNOS) Glu298Asp gene, the C242T of the NADPH oxidase p22phox subunit and the angiotensin 2 receptor type 1 А1166С gene was carried out using a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with evaluating of restriction fragments length polymorphism, while with substitutions of the angiotensinogen М235Т, G(-6)A gene allele-specific PCR “in real time” was applied.Results. LVH was found in 39% of patients. It was more frequent in persons above 50 years old (OR 2,8, р<0,0001), in men (OR 1,43, p=0,035), in HT of degree 2-3 (OR 3,35, р<0,0001), HT duration more than 5 years (OR 2,52, р<0,05), in obesity (OR 1,57, р=0,005) or diabetes (OR 3,33, р<0,0001) presence. At genetic factors evaluation decrease of LVH risk was revealed in persons with the MM polymorphism of the angiotensinogen М235Т gene (OR 0,506, р=0,0187). Association of the MM genotype with LVH risk lowering was more obvious at the young age (OR 0,31, р=0,018). The A allele of the eNOS gene Glu298Asp polymorphism increased risk of LVH development when HT was diagnosed in the young age (OR 1,98, р=0,037) and in women up to 50 years old (OR 2,34, р=0,027). The T allele of the p22phox NADPH oxidase gene С242Т polymorphism correlated with LVH risk reduction in HT patients up to 50 years old (OR 0,6, p=0,01), the C allele – with increase of it (OR 1,66, р=0,01), this influence was more noticeable in women up to 50 years old (T allele – OR 0,21; C allele – OR 4,57, p=0,001).Conclusion. Hypertensive LVH correlates with age, male gender, HT degree and duration, obesity and diabetes mellitus. Genetic factors were less associated with LVH
