.La reelaboración de la propia historia personal, un elemento del Programa Proyecto Hombre realizado en una Comunidad Terapéutica, posibilita el proceso de rehabilitación de toxicómanos. El material resultante de cada relato se utiliza en los diferentes grupos con el objeto de que cada uno reelabore ciertos aspectos de su historia para facilitar el cambio y el crecimiento personal. Construirla en positivo es un elemento de primer orden para mantener el cambio terapéutico, y el modo de contarla viene determinado por las circunstancias presentes. Son hipótesis planteadas que tienen sentido y que hay que mantenerlas en futuros estudios

Sexual violence against women in Ecuador: an overview from the rural and indigenous areas of Imbabura

Objectives. Sexual violence against women is a major social problem for governments and institutions. International reports warn about its magnitude and its global nature and findings from Latin America have also confirmed the seriousness of the issue. The objective of this article is to address the problem of sexual violence against women in Ecuador, with emphasis on rural and indigenous areas. Material and methods. The official data offered by the Attorney General of the State of Ecuador is analyzed. Likewise, the qualitative information provided by professionals in the province of Imbabura through interviews and focus groups. Results. Quantitative data shows a very significant increase in the number of crimes of sexual violence against women in practically all the provinces of Ecuador in the past three years. Likewise, from a qualitative perspective, patriarchal culture is very present as one of the causes that explain violence. As for the manifestation of sexual violence, its most frequent form is within partner relationships. However, cases of incest, sexual abuse and aggression against minors within the family environment are also common. Conclusions. Data for disaggregated and specific monitoring of sexual violence in Ecuador is limited. In this regard, the use of qualitative methodology to complement such information is recommended. This study identifies a serious situation both in terms of the prevalence and of the impact of sexual violence in Ecuador. Professionals’ support role for survivors of femicide and relatives of victims

The ways in which care professionals’ support is provided to survivors of femicide, as well as to victims’ families (children, parents and siblings), may be crucial for their process of rehabilitation and integration into society, thereby increasing their chances to live a relatively satisfying life in the future. The objective of this article is to analyse the characteristics of this professional response, and suggest recommendations to enhance the care provided to femicide survivors and their families, in order to make it more significant and context-sensitive. Thus, a qualitative research, including 12 in-depth interviews, was conducted among femicide survivors and family members of femicide victims from the provinces of Imbabura and Carchi in the Ecuadorian highlands. Notwithstanding the governmental efforts, both through legislative changes and the development of care plans for the victims, the findings indicate an ambivalent professional response, as well as a significant lack of support networks for survivors and families of femicide victims

Understanding and preventing femicide using a cultural and ecological approach

Femicide – the killing of a woman or girl, in particular by a man (often an intimate partner), on account of her gender – is not only a complex phenomenon but also a leading cause of premature death among women globally (Corradi et al, 2016; Vives-Cases et al, 2016). To effectively manage or prevent cases of femicide – and other forms of violence against women – it is therefore necessary to comprehend the sociocultural and ecological parameters that may influence it (Vives-Cases et al, 2016). While viewing femicide from a cultural perspective increases its complexity, it is nevertheless essential to consider not only how Western and non-Western cultures influence myriad individual, organizational, communal and societal attitudes regarding male violence against women, but also how these attitudes can in turn determine public policies and the state’s actions in relation to such violence (Flood and Pease, 2009; Gill et al, 2016; Vives-Cases et al, 2016). In taking such a cultural and ecological perspective, this chapter seeks to explore and understand femicide in European countries.peer-reviewe

Características de la violencia intrafamiliar en Imbabura

La violencia intrafamiliar en general y en concreto la violencia contra la mujer en las relaciones de pareja representa un problema importante en la sociedad ecuatoriana. Este artículo presenta un estudio descriptivo de la violencia intrafamiliar en la provincia de Imbabura. Asimismo, se comparan las características sociodemográficas de la víctima y del agresor en función del sexo. Para el desarrollo de estos objetivos se ha analizado la base de datos del Departamento de Violencia Intrafamiliar de la Policía Nacional (DEVIF) correspondiente a los años 2013 y 2014. Para el periodo estudiado, los resultados muestran un total de 2.565 casos de violencia. Respecto a las características de víctimas y agresores, las primeras son mayoritariamente mujeres y la situación de violencia que sufren se enmarca fundamentalmente en las relaciones de pareja. Por otra parte, se identifican también algunas características sociodemográficas diferenciales en función del sexo de la víctima y del agresor así como en las medidas de protección adoptadas en cada caso. Finalmente se discuten estos resultados y se constatan algunas debilidades del sistema de recolección de datos que tienen las instituciones gubernamentales vinculadas a este tema

A preliminary analysis of gender violence among migrants and displaced people in Europe

Background. The vulnerability of migrant women, especially those coming from patriarchal societies, leads to the increase of gender violence. This is incremented by a myriad of socioecological determinants related to the immigration process and to the nature of male-female relationships. Objectives. The main objective is to conduct a preliminary analysis of recent publications dealing with the relations between gender violence and migrant populations in the European Union, including internally displaced people. Materials and methods. This paper is based on a revision of scientific publications from SCOPUS that relate to migrant women who are victims of gender violence in the European Union. The qualitative thematic analysis was used in order to identify the main issues targeted in the articles. Results. The thematic analysis of the studies reviewed dealing with migration and gender violence highlighted several important themes, including prevalence of violence against migrant women; the forms and contexts of gender violence; the impact of legal, economic environments and sociocultural barriers; the influence of conflict and war; the impact and consequences of violence, especially on women’s mental health, as well as strategies and suggestions for interventions. Conclusions. Increasing the awareness of migration, regarding the conflicts and problems experienced by migrants (of both genders), could enable health and legal authorities to offer more significant culture and gender sensitive services, thus reducing gender violence

Violencia de género en España y violencia doméstica en Lituania. Comparativa de dos realidades

La violencia de género es un problema social que afecta a todo el mundo. las influencias patriarcales que han arraigado en la sociedad desde hace décadas han propiciado esta violencia que las mujeres están sufriendo . En este trabajo se ha hecho una comparativa de esta relidad como es la violencia ejercida a la mujer en España y Lituania. Se ha analizado para posteriormente comparar los puntos más importantes de la violencia contra la mujer: estadística, legislación, intervención con las víctimas, servicios sociales, centros especializados y el papel del trabajador social

Tipología de hombres condenados por violencia de género en un contexto de intervención psicológica en la comunidad

Este estudio analiza una muestra de 61 hombres que participaron en un programa de intervención psicológica en la comunidad dirigido a sujetos condenados por un delito de violencia de género. El objetivo es clasificar a los participantes en grupos homogéneos con el fin de detectar sus diferencias y semejanzas, y en particular determinar si valoran de manera distinta el programa de intervención. La información sobre los integrantes de la muestra ha sido obtenida a través de una entrevista semiestructurada, una valoración de sus expectativas ante el tratamiento y la utilidad de éste, y mediante la aplicación de los cuestionarios SCL-90-R, IRI, BDHI, IPDMV, MCMI-II y CTS-2. La clasificación de los sujetos se ha realizado mediante análisis clúster y los resultados evidencian la existencia de 2 grupos con una fuerte cohesión interna. Uno lo forman individuos más estables emocionalmente, con menor consumo de sustancias y una expresión de la violencia de menor intensidad. El otro lo constituyen sujetos que reconocen un mayor número de agresiones físicas menores (CTS-2) y que obtienen puntuaciones significativamente superiores en las escalas de personalidad antisocial, pasivo-agresiva y esquizotípica y en las de abuso de sustancias (MCMI-II). Sin embargo, no se observan diferencias significativas entre ambos grupos respecto a su valoración del programa de intervención psicológica.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.14349/rlp.v45i2.80
